Todd Bowles Names One Standout From Week 1 Of OTAs

June 3rd, 2025

Local media was only permitted to watch one of the Bucs’ four practices last week. So today Joe asked head coach Todd Bowles to share a few positive standouts from the three sessions closed to prying eyes like Joe’s.

Bowles dropped but one name: SirVocea Dennis.

“Not really [standouts], the only one was Voss, SirVocea,” Bowles said of his projected starting inside linebacker. “He gets his hands on a lot of balls. He’s had, if you want to say he’s had a very good four days, he’s had a very good four days. That doesn’t mean anything in the grand scheme of things, but I like where he’s at right now.”

Want to impress Bowles as a linebacker in spring practice? Get turnovers and be around the ball. Dennis is definitely doing that.

He’s also always been known as a smart, instinctive player — and for spending a lot of time with team medical staff.

    Music to my ears =
    1. Injured players from last season looking solid in OTAs.
    2. Rookies from this last draft impressing the coaching staff and Joe’s in attendance.

  2. SteveK Says:

He made some great tackles in space and coverage last year. Would love to see him healthy next to Lavonte.

  3. BucU Says:

Yeah man. He’s got immense talent and smarts. I’m praying he finally can stay relatively healthy for us. If he does this defense is gonna be solid.

Remember GMAC had trouble with injuries his first two years as did VV before they blossomed into full time players

Perhaps SVD is now ready to shine. If he played up to his potential and remained healthy and Winfield remained healthy all of the sudden the middle of the field is no longer the great wide open spaces!!!

  5. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

I don’t doubt SirVocea is talented. He just hasn’t proved he can stay healthy.

  6. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

We never really heard exactly what was wrong with his shoulder, did we?

  7. RBUC Says:

Why do U need to know the med history on his shoulder???? Gesssss

  8. jimmy Says:

Nobody doubts he would fly around in his underwear. Lets see how he flies with pads on.

  9. Daniel Z Says:

He looked good last year before the injury, so here’s hoping he can stay healthy. I still think we should bring in some FA depth in case he’s not.

  10. Erik with Pilot and Driverâ„¢ Says:

SVD is a future All-Pro if he stays healthy.

  11. BigPoppaBuc Says:

I have high hopes for Dennis. He looked really good before going down last season and it wasn’t a lower body injury so he should still have all the tools that make him good. And I also like calling him Voss.

  12. Darin Says:

He’s been one of their best players when he’s in there. Hopefully he stays healthy

  13. Hodad Says:

He’s going on year three and has only played a handful of games. I’m rooting for him, but it’s now or never.

  14. Aqualung Says:

    Keep him healthy. Please.

I wish that I could find all 22 film of all the plays Dennis participated in last season. I need a better play to think about before I try to go to sleep at night.

The only one that I can recall is Dennis running into the back off the DL at the goal line in Denver, then Dennis bouncing outside to square up with Bo Nix at the ten yard line, and then Dennis hesitating and letting Nix lumber to the flag at the right front corner of the end zone for a touchdown.

Nothing about that makes me feel good about Dennis being in the ILB rotation. Surely Dennis made some good plays. I hope someone posts a link to one so that I can break this fixation.

Ah! I just found this film from 2023 on YouTube – Buccaneers LB Sirvocea Dennis Vs Colts Film Study. Dennis started against the Colts when David missed a game with an injury. YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELX9m_oWbN8

Okay, maybe the Bucs have something to work with if he can stay on the field.

In the words of Allen Iverson “practice”… we are talking about “practice” …. I hope he’s good but this guy is the most unproven “starter” and everyone is on the hype train.

  17. heyjude Says:

Good to hear and rooting for Dennis!

  18. BuckyBuc Says:

    Superbowl

  19. Rod Munch Says:

If he can just stay healthy… who knows, maybe he can stay on the field this year.
