Shilo Sanders Shares Impressive Baker Mayfield Traits With Shedeur Sanders
June 27th, 2025More irony for tortured Browns fans.
Undrafted free agent safety Shilo Sanders is trying to make the Bucs’ 53-man roster while he expands his Tampa Food Tour on YouTube.
Sanders talked to his audience today about how much he admires the practice habits and routines of Antoine Winfield, Jr., and how beneficial it is to have a living blueprint for success working alongside him at safety.
He had similar comments about Mike Evans and Baker Mayfield and what it’s like to practice with them. “You realize that the game is just a game, this is what it takes to be a high-caliber player,” Sanders said.
In fact, per Sanders, when his Browns-rookie-quarterback brother Shedeur Sanders calls him in Tampa, Shilo Sanders lets him know what’s impressive about his quarterback.
“Baker’s done some things [in practice] that when whenever Shedeur calls me, I tell him about,” Shilo Sanders said. “Like how he goes from checkdown to checkdown real fast, just like little things. He’s a great guy, great quarterback and it’s always fun out here [in practice.]”
Of course, after four seasons, the Browns gave up on Mayfield in favor of trading three first-round draft picks for sleazy quarterback DeSean Watson. The Bucs have enjoyed two Pro Bowl seasons from Mayfield before his 30th birthday.
Shilo Sanders went on to talk about how he is trying to enter Bucs training camp in the best possible shape and completely mentally prepared, “so I can go in knowing everything and go in playing fast without thinking about anything, too.”
Sanders added that he’s learned in Tampa that mental preparation is most of the game and “translates to you being good at football.”

Sure Shad can learn from Baker but you can’t teach arm strength and quick thinking. The reason Shad dropped in the draft iz,a weak arm and holding on to the ball too.long resulting in long sacks. Shad often does not make a Decision back there. You can’t teach quick decision making. You have it or you don’t. Same with winging the ball 70 yards. You can do it or you can’t. What Shad had,was a master hype machine his, dad. Baker could have used Deon,s marketing skills after the Browns dumped him for the massive bust Watson.

I’m rooting for Shiloh.

Agree with the arm strength, not the decision making.
Players all the time state how the game ‘slows down for them’ as they gain experience. Film study and time will/can improve decision making. You think Brady was able to diagnose defenses as a rookie the same way he did as a 10 or 20 year vet? Nope.
Agree though – you absolutely cannot teach arm strength.
If his interviews were as bad as leaked, then I can see why teams bypassed him, because he was perceived to be uncoachable. Couple that with less than exceptional physical tools and an image that screamed entitlement, and you get what happened in April.

Crab boil for lunch and a turkey sandwich dessert? Elite decision making and shoutout to Bucified Bert lol

Just because someone can read a defense doesn’t mean they’ll make the right decision—look at Tony Romo in the broadcast booth. He breaks down plays like a Hall of Famer and sees things before they happen, but that football IQ didn’t always translate on the field. He was a talented QB, no doubt, but when the pressure was on, especially in the playoffs, the execution didn’t match the insight. There’s a big difference between knowing the right move and making it in real time with the game on the line.

What does J.J. Robert’s think about Mayfield?

I’m rooting for J. J. Roberts.
I’m rooting for the more talented UDFA safety to get a fraction of the attention of the other UDFA who is only around because his father is a football celebrity.

Loving part 3 of Shilo’s food tour! Thank you, Joe. Good stuff. I am rooting for him. He feels like family here. Can’t get any better than that.

Apparently some fans prefer football celebrity to football ability.

I’m pulling for JJ Roberts and Shiloh to be all they can be for our Bucs.

It takes more than arm strength to throw a football 70 yards.
Go to Tom Brady’s YouTube channel and watch the video he posted two months ago, entitled “How to Throw a Football.”
Shedeur would benefit by watching the video and then mastering the technique.

Shilo seems like a really good kid. I hope he makes the practice squad at least.
