Rachaad White Has Dropped 8 Or 9 Pounds

June 10th, 2025

Rachaad White is an extra serious running back as he enters the first contract year of his career.

The 2022 third-round pick is the Bucs’ No. 2 running back to Bucky Irving, but White believes he’s No. 1 material and intends to show that to the NFL.

Always a guy who trains hard, White says he’s dropped down to 212 pounds after playing at 220 or 221 pounds last season and at 223 during his standout 2023 season. And the weight loss was intentional.

“Just wanted to shape it up right and be able to move around more better than I was the last two years,” White said.

White says he feels a difference. He noted, “I may be quicker in and out of cuts” and that he might be able to put his body in different positions this season than he had in the past.

Yes, this is a very motivated and deep Bucs roster. Hopefully, it’s a dangerous one, too.

It’s an extremely dangerous team if the fellas stay healthy.

35-20 week 1 W with Falcons scoring in garbage time.

hold on to the ball white!!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

RB and Receiver might be our strongest position on the Team. It’s going to be hard to double team anyone on our offense.

  4. JimBobBuc Says:

Tuck is gunning for more touches so White needs to prove his next contract. If Tuck improves his pass pro, and continues to catch the ball well, he will get touches at the expense of White. Speaking of pass pro, rookie Josh Williams reportedly had a PFF grade of 95 in pass pro (if that grade means anything!).

  5. OR Buc Says:

Hopefully he has learned that the point of his position is to largely avoid contact, rather than run into it.

    It was just dread weight.

You know when you’re reading about a future free agent. You lost your job, in a contract year so NOW you do what you should have when we had the worst rushing attack in the league? Everybody could see you were slow hitting the hole friend.

  8. firethecannons Says:

hope he can still pass pro, not sure what the motivation to lose weight was, he needs to be more beefed up as Bucky and Tuck are not big.

  9. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

He’s an outstanding receiver and open field runner. I would love to see him catch more passes this year.

I understand the weight loss, as he said you move quicker, feel quicker, sharper. It’s mental too and it doesn’t affect your pass protection either. It can give you a mental edge over your opponent, especially in the heat during a game here and later in the 4th quarter.

  11. Irishmist Says:

Doosh- So you’re saying he should be a hair quicker?

  12. Bosch Says:

Ahhhh.. Dooosh on the loose. That’s what I was going to post. Good one! You too, Irish.

If he will sign for $5 million per year, extend White now for four years plus some performance incentives with two years guaranteed.

  14. LouisFriend Says:

Beware when running backs deliberately add or drop weight, it usually works against them. If they add weight they lose speed, and if they lose weight it leads to increased soft tissue injuries. This isn’t my opinion but years of watching similar kinds of attempts to either get faster, leaner, stronger or whatever. Anyway, hopefully Rachaad is the exception to the rule.

The adios is coming to a really good dude who might thrive with some better coaching and role change. He came to the Bucs when a moron was coaching the offense without his dad to compensate, and a brand new head coach who can’t manage his own alleged expertise.

Not sure if that is good or bad. They finally got him to start hitting the LOS like he wanted to run through some tackles (sometimes) and now he slims down? It will, however make his pass catching RAC a bit quicker soo…

    Go Bucs!

  17. Jeffrey Becker Says:

skinnier fumbles haha. as long as he protects mayfield

  18. Bucswin Says:

Working on being more like Bucky. Good job. Go Bowles!

  19. Adam’s Angry Says:

I’m sorry, White is capable of making a cut?

  20. Rod Munch Says:

General rule of thumb, when a runningback drops weight, that’s a good thing – and when a receiver gains weight, that’s a good thing.

So, looking at the chart above, this is a good thing. So long as it doesn’t affect his blocking, which he was exceptional at.
