Mike Evans Compares Emeka Egbuka To Chris Godwin

The greatest receiver in Bucs history is highly impressed.
Mike Evans’ eyes opened just a little wider after today’s minicamp practice when he talked about the rookie receiver Emeka Egbuka.
“Emeka’s really strong hands, super smart … he looks like a running back but he catches like Chris Godwin,” Evans said. “He’s a very polished, very well-rounded player.”
A stud young receiver pushing for greatness in Bucs camp? “It give me more motivation,” Evans said. “…It helps me keep that hunger seeing young, great players like that.”
Joe asked Evans what went through his head on draft night when the Bucs snagged Egbuka when a lot of people thought they would go defense with the No. 19 overall pick.
Evans said he didn’t think the Bucs were going receiver with that pick. Now, he said, after a few practices with Egbuka this week, he completely believes the Bucs’ front office went with a best-player-available philosophy in Round 1.

The Rich get Richer at WR. Now if that putrid Pass Defense improves with the additions to the secondary and Reddick and some of the others step up, we will be a formidable foe in the NFC. Go Bucs!!

Depending on what Mike Evans decides to do after this season, we might have just a single year of the greatest Buccaneer assemblage of WR talent in their history. The top 4 can do most of the NFL route tree and have the ability to play all inside or outside. That’s something so rare I can’t think of another team that’s ever had that much skill available from a whole group all at once.
Enjoy it everyone, this is a dream team group of guys for Baker to throw to. If all goes well they’ll be playing into February of next season.

CG is changing his uniform name plate to read ‘Godwin Jr.’ in honor of his father. A nice way to pay tribute to his dad on Father’s day weekend.
