Lavonte David: Bring On Washington!
June 2nd, 2025
Playoff loss eats at him.
Joe actually likes this for the 2025 season. But Joe certainly does not like it for how the 2024 season ended.
In various interviews across the interwebs and podcastsphere, Bucs players have been downright angry about how they feel they let a playoff win slip away against the Commandos five months ago.
Once again, Bucs stud Lavonte David groused about the end of the 2024 season, this time it was to Kay Adams last week on her weekday show “Up and Adams.”
In fact, David wants a rematch of that game, which would have to come in the playoffs because Tampa Bay and Washington won’t play in this regular season.
“I feel like we will meet up at some point,” David said.
The key for the rematch is the Commandos and Bucs, David said, must do what they are supposed to do. That would be make the playoffs.
“That first-round playoff game was very, very, very heartbreaking for me,” David said as he grabbed his heart. “Me and a bunch of other guys felt like we could have done it. We had the team to do it.
“We didn’t get the job done.”
Joe hopes every Bucs player returning has that bitter taste in his mouth when training camp starts, and they don’t lose it until well after the holidays.
That game was there for the taking. Mistakes involving two rookies did them in.
That loss summed up one of Joe’s favorite sayings by Bill Walsh. The three-time Super Bowl winner said if each player does his job, everything works out in the end.
Take away those two mistakes, the Bucs win that game and who knows what they were capable of?
Lavonte David wants a rematch with Bobby Wagner’s Commanders. 👀

Bucs did have the talent on D to get it done. Period. Move on.

The part time HC part time DC is the one who needs to show that the humiliating loss to a rookie QB has galvanized the coaching and preparation processes.

The chant should be “Bring on ATL!”

“How teams compete in pressure situations determines the outcomes of close games” – another 3 x Super Bowl winner, Michael Irvin.

McMillen was clearly passed the point of receiving the handoff and that mistake is on Mayfield on the Jet sweep Fumble.
Throw shade on the rookie if it makes you feel better about who’s running the show. “Ifs” are another way of another way of not coming fluffing over the fact that the Bucs were not all that good. Certainly not a team that could win 3 straight in that field of teams.
“If’ Mayfield and the Rookie center Don’t make mistakes, Bucs win and ‘If’ Goff does not t have his worse game of the season after a Playoff Bye the Lions go on to win the Super Bowl.
If it were two Rookie mistakes then perhaps Mayfield seen tapping his chest on the sideline after the play was not “My Bad” but ” I Choked”.

Watch what you wish for. I think Washington is more of a threat to win the NFC then Philly, and Detriot. I think both the Lions, and Philly take a step back while the Bucs, and Skins take a step forward. Hopefully we beat the Skins at home to go to the S.B. this season. It’s funny how the media talks about the Bucs losing Coen, and us having a new O.C., but never mention the Lions losing both their O.C., and D.C.. That’s not going to be easy to overcome.

Bowles knows losing. As does Baker.
In pressure situations they fold like a cheap suit.
The SB is just a pipe dream with those two leading the way.
June 2nd, 2025 at 8:30 am
Hodad, that’s actually a good point. They make a big deal out of losing El serpiente, but not the Lions losing both.
Anyway, forget the Redskins. Beat Atlanta.
June 2nd, 2025 at 8:34 am
🔥🔥 Bowles!
Hire McCarthy!
June 2nd, 2025 at 8:37 am
Hodad
AMEN BROTHER!!! Again why must we always disrespect? The HC the opposition? Washington was a team on the rise, and the very next week they EMBARRASSED Detroit.
The Bucs missed a few plays that coulda, shoulda, woulda…..the PLAY that actually decided the game and gave Washington scoreboard was a FG that hit the post solidly and then carommed through instead of out…it coulda, shoulda, woulda, made a difference it the bounce had literally gone the Bucs way. Then again maybe it wouldn’t.
It’s time to wrap up all the second guessing. Hodad is correct. Washington is a team on the Rise. I’m not sure the Lions aren’t heading the other direction and Philly is still good but certainly not unbeatable as the Bucs in their lame post SB condition proved.
Again…on any given Sunday!!!

Lavonte is such a soft-spoken and humble guy. Great demeanor. So lucky to have him on our team.
Hodad, stpetebucsfan, and others are right on point. If we were to play Washington in the play-offs, they are definitely on the rise as a threat for any team.

south – the mistake was at least partly on Coen for calling a jet sweep to a rookie when you could have called it for Shepard. didn’t we blame it on barton at the time? or was that a third down call by Grizz?
June 2nd, 2025 at 11:15 am
South, you analysis of the jet sweep play shows how you are wrong. All Baker had to do is get the ball and turn around and hand it off. If the receiver is not at the correct position Baker can’t hand it off. Think about it. Receiver has to run several yards to be in correct position while all Baker has to do is turn around. Who do you think screwed the play up? Also, the center has to hike the ball at correct time. Least likely player of the three participants to F up is the QB. Doesn’t anybody think anymore?

You’re not wrong BUT you also learn how to win. Michael Jordan lost in the playoffs his first 6 years in the league. His first 3 years, they were swept in the first round. You lose, improve, and go farther. This team has improved and is ready to go farther.

Huh….? The receiver overran the handoff and that’s Mayfield’s fault? Can’t make stuff like this up. Pointless to argue with many who comment here when they contradict themselves all in one sentence.

Longest active playoff streak in the NFC.
Incrementally better each year as we restock critical positions.
Was a very close game against Washington. It was a team loss – offense and defense played a part in losing. Nothing to do but what we’re doing = cut back on weaknesses, reinforce what is strong.
Much more concerned with the regular season games we have to win just to play the commanders again but I hear what LVD is saying.

Where do you think the improvement came from?
That would be the HC Phil Jackson. A true winner.
No one wanted Bowles as HC. The Glazers were ransomed into hiring him.

We didn’t have a pass rush and our corners weren’t great. Doesn’t matter how good the head coach is, if your d-ends don’t get home you are going to look far worse than you really are.
June 3rd, 2025 at 11:20 am
It’s never just one play that decides a game but a culmination of them. Coach told us you have to make the plays when they are there to be made, that’s what we practice for. take a few moments and get your s*** together before the snap and move forward.
