Gerald McCoy Vs. The PFF Tribe
June 28th, 2025
Battle lines drawn.
Uh, oh. The PFF tribe has gone and done it.
They’ve angered former Bucs stud Gerald McCoy.
The six-time Pro Bowl Bucs defensive tackle and current NFL Network personality has a bone to pick with the PFF tribe. And Joe doesn’t think McCoy is wrong.
This week, Joe believed the PFF tribe slandered Bucs defensive tackle Calijah Kancey. Their dumbass “grades” suggest Kancey is really bad against the run. As a result, the tribe thinks Kancey is on the cusp of being booted off the Bucs. Nonsense!
Credible NFL sources like NextGen Stats and Bucs coach Todd Bowles himself suggest the PFF tribe doesn’t have a clue. They aren’t the first to make that claim and Joe can guaran-damn-tee you they won’t be the last. Why? Because those PFF tribe dumbass “grades” are, well, dumb!
This Zoltán Buday of the PFF tribe typed an article of the best duos in the game. He picked Eagles defensive tackles Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis as the best interior defensive line duo.
Joe doesn’t think that’s an awful selection. But GMC did and he came at the PFF tribe.
While Joe suggested the PFF tribe had slandered Kancey, GMC typed the PFF tribe outright lied about Vita Vea and Kancey, which GMC suggests is the best defensive line interior in the NFL.
Helluva point by GMC. If you are looking for production, it’s hard to overlook Kancey and Vea. But this would mean the PFF tribe would have to admit they are wrong and their dumbass “grades” are trash. Cris Collinsworth isn’t going to destroy his lame business model, no matter how faulty it may be.
Pardon Joe for valuing production over nonsense that a dude in his Irish dorm hatched because he couldn’t otherwise pull.
And no, the Bucs are not on the verge of throwing Kancey into the Gulf. For crying out loud!

PFF Tribe can walk the plank.

Good on GMAC for coming with receipts. I actually wasn’t aware that they topped the eagles Duo on all of those metrics. Shameful stuff from PFF.

when Bucs curb stomp the Iggs in the playoffs that will be enough of a rebuttal for all to see.

Don’t forget that every NFL team is paying PFF for their ‘advanced analytics’. The Bucs themselves are writing checks for it, which is bizarre.
I’m not talking about them forking over $50 for a premium membership – PFF gets paid six figure fees for personalized analytics per team
Some of their work is juvenile and pathetic. But for whatever reason the NFL is handing them millions. And you’d better believe they use those metrics when it comes time to negotiate contract extensions. Stop the madness.

Teams farm out their quality control work (stats from tape) to the PFF tribe. Saves lower level coaches hours of time each week in the season.
NFL already has an in-house analytics data service (NextGen Stats) which the league owns and has invested millions into.
Trust Joe when he tells you NFL folks don’t give a damn about the tribe’s “grades.”
Joe fully agrees that teams will only use those dumbass grades against a player in contact negotiations.
Joe is fine with the tribe’s advanced stats. It’s the dumbass grades where there run off the rails.

To me PFF’s player grades come in handy when I’m looking up some info on a player that I’m not familiar with and don’t necessarily care about. For example outside of Bosa and Herbert I couldn’t name you a single Chargers player. When it comes to the BUCS or any team I watch a lot I can usually just form my own opinion. The BUCS are the only team I watch every week. Other than that NFC matter more to me because their records effect the BUCS more. AFC team…I usually don’t care who wins except for the Patriots.

Although during the regular season I’ll usually root for any AFC team over almost any NFC team because that tends to help the BUCS at least a little.

Any of you fantasy guys use PFF grades for drafting purposes?

Nice, Gerald. Nice.

GMC was first team All Pro once, second team twice, and Pro Bowl six times when it meant more.
I am generally inclined to heed his opinions about DTs. And, in this case, it agrees with the opinion that I had already formed.

The pff tribe are about as accurate in their assessment as the Dan Campbell disciples around here….. 🤡s

Yeah, PFF is ridiculous with their grade on Kancey, I literally have zero idea how in the world they think he was the weak link on the defense last year. There’s nothing that shows that, no stats, certainly no the eyeball test. Kancey had a great 2nd year last year, and looks like he’s on the verge of becoming a star – he’s just got to stay healthy – and Bowles need to stop with the trash zone defense which always gives opposes QBs an easy throw to make even under pressure.
