Cam Newton Agrees Mike Evans Is A Baller

June 29th, 2025

Respect for Bucs’ star WR.

In just a handful of years, Cam Newton went from being a feared NFL quarterback to a villain in a future “Batman” movie.

Think about it: The way Newton dresses, with his big hats like he’s a real-life “Mario” of “Donkey Kong” fame; it’s like Newton and Gerald McCoy will be “Batman” co-stars.

Joe doesn’t know what the subject matter was in an edited TikTok video of Newton. But what Joe does know is that Newton has a ton of respect for Bucs’ future Hall of Fame receiver Mike Evans.

What is Newton’s apparent definition of a baller? A guy who produces no matter who his teammates are.

“You’ve seen Mike Evans perform with good quarterbacks,” Newton began. “You’ve seen Mike Evans perform with great quarterbacks. We’ve seen Mike Evans perform with not-so-good quarterbacks. And we’ve seen Mike Evans perform with sh!tty quarterbacks.

“And yet, he’s still performing at a high level.”

Yup, that’s Mike. Now, Joe is trying to decipher who the quarterbacks were Newton referenced.

Great? Has to be Tom Brady, right?

Good? While Joe is inclined to think America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston (Evans played with Jameis for five seasons, more than any other Bucs quarterback), Joe is going to guess Newton is referencing Baker Mayfield.

So, as a result, “not-so-good” would be Jameis.

“Sh!tty?” That’s Stewart McClown, no doubt.

But Newton is right. It doesn’t matter who the quarterback is. It doesn’t matter who Evans’ teammates are. It doesn’t matter what the Bucs’ record is. Evans balls year in and year out.

That’s the definition of a great player.

As much as I disliked this guy as a player, in the space where he’s talking about football matters he makes a lot of interesting and valid points. This is one of the more valid points, but Buc fans have been saying this for years. Mikes’ been makin QBs look good since his A&M days.

Is this going to turn into a Dolphins thing where everyone cheers when a top WR has a less-than-1,000 yard season?

  3. Yall don't get it Says:

ModHairKen – yes. Yes it is. I fully expect someone out there to build a website tracker that follows all eligible candidates. When they are out of the running, bottles will be popped.

It will be a big moment – probably sometime in late Dec if/when Evans gets 1000 yards again (for the 12th time) to surpass the immortal Jerry Rice as the NFLs all time leader in consecutive 1000 yard seasons….

Its gonna be hard though, to beat the excitement of that moment he had getting it for the 11th time (tying Rice for the record) with 5 seconds left in the regular season last year…….

So glad to see Mike finally getting the national recognition as one of the game’s greatest receivers the last couple years. It took almost 10 years for many to notice that ME13 was almost certainly going to the HOF – but I think most everybody now knows that Evans is a 1st ballot talent.

Hopefully Lavonte David (in what is likely his last season) gets a big late surge of national recognition this last year that he is also one of the game’s greatest players and that his career is more than worthy of a gold jacket as well.

And just for “grins” so to speak since it’s the off season, where would be the best place from a PR drama standpoint for ME getting the record.

This post is utilizing a special dispensation anti jinxing set of pixels in the awareness that IF ME can break the record that’s enough but it’s fun to “select” the best spot.

Of course for drama and home field thrills it would be the final game of the year at RayJay as the Bucs clinch a consecutive Division title finally eiminating the surprising Panthers who take the Bucs to the final game of the year.

ME needs around 100 yards, he goes off and gets 100+, scores the winning TD leading the Bucs to another playoff. That would be the most dramatic of course and it would FILL the stadium.

I might feel better if he gets it at Ray Jay but in game 15 as part of the Bucs revenge tour on the Falcons. It leaves a few games to spare if game #15 doesn’t work out.

spbf – I would prefer he get it done much sooner than that….

If 13 is having a monster year – then the team is likely kicking ass as well….

  7. Dewey Selmon Says:

Joe didn’t want to mention Mike Glennon for fear the “Glennon Mob” might resurface lol.

If no injuries I think Mike gets it less than 12-13 games and then just tacks it on. I don’t know how many games Chase has missed the last 2 years but I know mike missed 4 last year and maybe a couple in “23” or he would be the league leader in TD’s over the last 2 years. I don’t understand how any team can be ranked better than us with the receivers we have, Bengals are good but we could have 4-5 legit starting caliber wideouts on this team.

    F Sham Newton.

  10. Irishmist Says:

He even made a sh!tty wasted college QB look so good that he was taken in the first round.

    Johnny “Sh!tty” Football!!!

  13. Cobraboy Says:

Newton is a parody of a cartoon clown.

  14. stu padaso Says:

    what a clown

Well I wasn’t going to go out on a limb and say Mike Evans is a baller, but now that Cam Newton has brought into the mainstream, I will say it too. MIKE EVANS IS A BALLER
