Bucs Day 3 Mandatory Minicamp Notes

June 12th, 2025

UPDATED 2:29 p.m. – *Abbreviated underwear football session, per league rules, kicks off about 9:30 a.m. and runs short.

*11-on-11 starts after about 40 minutes of drills.

*Floppy hat day of rest for Baker Mayfield.

*Kyle Trask throws short left to Bucky Irving. No. 45 meets him. It’s not Devin White; No. 45 is Deion Jones. Joe later finds out inside linebackers had some fun swapping jerseys for this practice, so who knows who it really was on defense?

*Trask completes short crossing route to rookie first-round pick Emeka Egbuka. Hot throw is no problem for Egbuka’s money hands.

*Trask throwaway after pressure from bottom-of-the-roster edge rusher veteran Markees Watts off the left edge.

*More pressure from Watts and Trask is incomplete.

*Fourth-string QB Connor Bazelak — short completion to Sterling Shepard to the right side.

*Bazelak short to Shepard again short left for five yards.

*Trask overthrows Egbuka WIDE open on right sideline route. Incomplete for 8-yard opportunity.

*Trask checkdown to RB D. J. Williams.

*Trask with a nice completion to TE Tanner Taula down the seam for about 13 yards.

*Bazelak gets more work and it’s kind of ugly. Tyrek Funderburk, working at safety, drops a sure interception. Tez Johnson shows more good hands. Bazelak closes this series with a major underthrow of Shepard.

*Next practice in six weeks.

OK boys, go get some rest, but come back in shape and know the play book. It gonna get serious now!

  2. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

So is that it? Minicamp is only 3 days? Oh well, see you at the end of July.

  3. Pryda30 Says:

It’s gonna be a hot summer boys my biggest fear is somebody getting arrested

  4. Pryda30 Says:

Haven’t heard a peep from shilo

  5. Jmarkbuc Says:

Nothing on the 3rd string QB?

  6. Pickgrin Says:

Thanks Joe. Nice to hear that Watts is doing his best to position for a roster spot. Its gonna be tough for him unless there is an injury or the Bucs keep 6 OLB….

(Reddick, Diaby, Braswell, Walker and Nelson are all pretty well locked in as our OLB group I’d say).

PLAYERS – Spend time with your families. Take a nice (safe) vacation. Refresh your minds and bodies and spirit with rest and recreation. Take the boat out – go fishing – commune with nature…. Enjoy your time off – but keep your attention on that playbook daily. DO NOT drink to excess and DO NOT put yourself in any bad situations with questionable companions! Your teammates and coaches are ALL counting on you to NOT get in trouble and to make good decisions while you enjoy your time off.

Any “news” about a player from now until the end of July is mostly all BAD news.

  7. JimBobBuc Says:

It will be good when Pratt is ready to play, this Bazelak guy doesn’t have it.

  8. Stew Brew Says:

    Hey Joe,

Has Tyler Echeverry been participating in OTA’s?

  9. SB~LV Says:

“ Hot throw is now problem for Egbuka’s money hands.“
    Typo ????

  10. KABucs Says:

    Pickgrin…
Not calling you a narcissist or anything, but I do not think a single Bucs player will be reading your post. Just an FYI.
Good advice, though. I’m thinking the coaches are saying something very similar to them. But I don’t worry about this group, they’re not a “go to strip clubs, party it up and smoke a lot of weed” kind of football team. Good character, extremely focused and the rookies from the last couple drafts are extremely mature.

There was a reason why the lost decade was the LOST decade. It was completely in the way we drafted. Bad players and not the best integrity we’re unfortunately for picked frequently. We hit one right every once in awhile (LVD), but it was the exception to the rule. Wonder if Licht would have picked Jameis based on our current draft process?

  11. Beeej Says:

Even if Shilo doesn’t make the team he’ll get some tape/exposure during the preseason

  12. unbelievable Says:

“ Next practice in six weeks.”

    How depressing!

  13. Ryan Smith Says:

Aee y’all in 6 weeks for Training Camp everyone. The longest 6 weeks of the year.

  14. Aqualung Says:

    Joe! “Linebackers swapping jerseys!

    ROTFL!!!

As if your job wasn’t hard enough. Thanks, man!

  15. Pickgrin Says:

KABucs – you might be surprised at how many inside OBP read JBF somewhat regularly…. suits, coaches and players.

  16. Oneilbuc Says:

Baker Mayfield threw 3 picks today Joe it’s been reported on other bucs pages but your’s??

  17. Vanessa Anne Says:

Joe, thank you again for going out there every day and reporting back to us.

  18. Colonel Angus Says:

You fella’s complaining about 6 weeks must be young. I just realized that training camp opens in 6 short weeks! Damn time be flying these days.

  19. Purplebeard Says:

Baker threw 3 picks today in mini camp?. OMG! Our season is over!

  20. Oneilbuc Says:

Purpled. If you are going to talk about what happened in camp tell everything about the players regardless who they are. When Trask throws picks it’s always talk about because he threw them and that’s cool with me. But when Baker throw them it’s not mention. You see that’s why you have to call like you see it. I don’t know Baker or Trask I go by what the players do on the field. So you don’t have to defend Baker lol 🤣🤣 .

  21. garro Says:

Wow kinda make me wonder …Why bother? They must have wanted to get a look at a couple of guys on the practice squad. They peobably will not get many oportunities in camp.

    Go Bucs!
