Benjamin Morrison “Moving Very Good”

June 3rd, 2025

Rookie cornerback Benjamin Morrison (left) coming off the practice field today with fellow rookie Tez Johnson.

Joe is impressed. Others collecting checks from Team Glazer are, too.

There was concern by those outside One Buc Palace when the Bucs made Notre Dame cornerback Benjamin Morrison their second-round pick in April. Injuries have plagued Morrison and his final college season was cut short by hip surgery.

However, Morrison was on the field during rookie minicamp. And as of this morning, it appears he’s shaken off a ton of rust.

Morrison looks quick and Joe saw his top-shelf acceleration. Morrison had no issue keeping up with first-round pick Emeka Egbuka down the field. And Joe thinks Egbuka is a wonderful combination of speed and power, a guy that practices hard.

Todd Bowles was positive about Morrison after practice. “He’s been moving very good and we’re pleased with him right now,” Bowles said.

Joe thinks anything Morrison is doing now is a bonus.

Initially, Joe thought the Bucs might hold Morrison out until training camp. Nope. He’s clearly full-go.

He had separate surgeries to repair a birth defect in both hips that was going to happen at some stage of his career. Other than that he had a shoulder surgery in spring ’24 & missed a game with quad strain. Not sure how that’s being plagued lol.
LOL. Well, a lot of 21 year olds like him haven’t had a major injury yet. –Joe

this is GREAT news! We need the competition and depth at corner.

  3. SteveK Says:

Hopefully the hip and shoulder is a go, was happy we drafted a guy that can stick like glue with some length and to challenge Dean and Zyon. Depth is a great thing.

I also think David Walker is a steal, don’t know why, but Joe sharing his 80+ career pressures gets me fired up to see him next to Kancey and Vita, hello sacks!

  4. TBChucky Says:

Glad to hear. It sounds like he’ll be good to go for a training camp battle with Dean.

And …. That’s why we have to trust the process.

Picking Morrison up in the second is like finding a large chunk of Gold that 100 others walked right past without taking a second look.

Man….. Jason Licht and staff ARE on Their Game on the Biggest stage in the World!

I Really Love our GM. And I’ve been peaved at him before! (No O line for Brady in 2022) for instance. But without a doubt, He IS the hands down BEST Drafting/ Signing Up GM in our history BY A LONGSHOT and Still Going.

He doesn’t seem to be going All In this year though. He’d bring in more “Heavy Weights” for the D line and fill the Line Backer dept with at least another High End Backer Talent.

I believe “His Target” is 2026. I Want To Win NOW! But Licht is far wiser than me and IF we’d have any Real Shot at a “Dynasty”, it makes sense that he needs One More draft to Actually be able to Tow the Line for multiple years. Got to remember, we’re about to lose Two Big Ones in Mike and Lavante (especially Lavante) so …. he’s still building. Though we’ll ALL take a Super Bowl while we build.

The choice of EE makes PERFECT SENSE in building towards a “long term” Run at it. SUPER SMART from a “Dynasty POV”

The Only thing Jason Licht hasn’t accomplished yet??? Building a Dynasty.

THAT’S my type of GM! SO GRATEFUL He’s Our GUY…

Looking at the picture above with Tez Johnson is just comical. I have a hard time believing those chicken legs can last long in the NFL. Hopefully he puts on some leg muscles next off-season.

  7. ballwasher61 Says:

Yeah Morrisons triceps are more defined and bigger than than squirrels quads..LOL

  8. GoneGator Says:

Positive News Joe. Glad to hear Morrison is looking this good this early.

  9. Aqualung Says:

ballwasher – LOL! The squirrel seems to me like he’ll be wishing he had Jaelon Darden’s career in a few months, but I hear he’s funny.

  10. GoneGator Says:

I heard The squirrel caught a 55 yard TD in practice today 😳

  11. Aqualung Says:

The squirrel also had dropped a punt – why he is on the team in the first place. And Kenny Bell and Darden looked like Pro Bowlers at this stage,

Man, it’s becoming clear that a vegetative state would be an improvement for a specific drooling knuckle dragger,

  12. FrontFour Says:

Tez looks like he’d get carried away with a good gust of wind. Slight looking guy.

Aqua – what’s your deal. Such a weird axe to grind with their last pick of the draft. Go lay on a futon somewhere and speak to a professiona. This isn’t 1988 where receivers get wrecked over the middle. And even then, it’s not like Jerry Rice could squat more than 315 or whatever. Are you the same kind of person that thought Devonta smith would get broken in half? He is an over qualified number 2 and will forever be much more playing time than Tez. Tez will be just fine as a gadget guy and returning a few punts. Receivers are pretty deft at just getting down nowadays. Relax

Great news on Morrison Joe! Was worried he might fall behind on even learning this defense. Hard to keep up as a rookie from the sidelines.

    Go Bucs!
