Antoine Winfield Talks Shilo Sanders

June 3rd, 2025

Antoine Winfield (right) walks off the practice field today with undrafted rookie safety Shilo Sanders.

So the Bucs have a couple of players whose dads were true NFL superstars: Antoine Winfield, Jr. and Shilo Sanders.

Winfield was an All-Pro two seasons ago and Sanders is an undrafted free agent trying to make the team while he reviews Tampa restaurants.

Sanders previously revealed to local media that he reached out to Winfield prior to taking the field for Bucs’ rookie minicamp three weeks ago.

Today after practice, Winfield noted that his new teammate brings a work ethic he respects.

“He plays hard. He works hard,” Winfield said of Sanders. “He really wants to learn and he just wants to improve his game so that’s something that you admire from somebody coming in who wants to learn and actually play this game.”

Those who follow Sanders on social media know he has referenced multiple times how his famous father Deion taught him very well from a young age how to train and practice. Obviously, that doesn’t mean the younger Sanders has enough talent to make it in the NFL.

But if Sanders fails, it won’t be because his preparation was lacking.

Winfield looks absolutely ripped in that photo. He looks ready to tackle Saquon Barkley.

Which s pretty much all you can ask of an UDRFA. Wish the kid the best because this team and this HC need all the help that can be had on the defensive side of the ball.

  3. Usfbucs Says:

I had the same take away Stpetematt. Winfield looks ready to go.

  4. Crickett Baker Says:

It is very interesting that so many Bucs “legends” were at practice today. That seemed to add a lot of fuel to the fire.

You get the fat check you need be there helping your team and helping your backs ups learn you and their playbook.
Football is the biggest morale sport it take a locket room to get through a full season..captains need to be present and invested in the growth.

    Crickett

    Who was there?

  7. Dirtyred8501 Says Says:

Winfield will be ready, it’s the training instilled in him from his dad, he’s hungry to return.

  8. GoneGator Says:

Wish the guy luck. His attitude seems right and we could use more depth @ safety.

  9. Coconut Doughnut Says:

    Somebody never missed gym day

Winfield,.WOW!.He looks like an Action figure! I imagine he’s going to Hit Hard this year. And let’s be honest. The More jacked up you are, the less likely to get damaged.

Let’s just say he’s got his “Inside Armor” on 24/7 and He’s going to be tough to stop!

    He’s a “Incoming Missile”?

  11. Hodad Says:

Picture of rookie Morrison the dude looked ripped too. It’s a good sign coming off his hip injury he’s already doing full team drills. Think other teams might regret letting him get to the Bucs at the end of the second round. Kid has first round talent.

    Zzzzzzzzzzz…

    Let’s talk about J.J. Roberts.

Has there been an article about J.J.Roberts yet? Arguable a more interesting prospect as a UDFA safety, if you’re interested in football. If you’re interested in writing about people because their father is a celebrity athlete, well… apparently that’s where we are.

  13. Aqualung Says:

Shiloh is the few who has the brains to understand Todd’s quantum gravity defense. We used to have a guy like that in 2016, Keith Tandy. Big Head Mike let him go and the defense cratered. Tandy was a coach on the field and made up,for lesser physical attributes by being the smartest guy on the field.

    Maybe Shiloh can be that.

  14. BillyBucco Says:

    Winfield does look ripped.
Anybody who thinks he took a paycheck is in for a rude awakening

    Both great guys!

Loving Shilo’s video! Genuine and respectful of others. He is a perfect fit to be on the Bucs!

As far as Sanders go, a UFA nothing ventured nothing gained. If the kid can show something worth developing, he may make the practice squad.

  17. SlyPirate Says:

Shilo’s stats from 2023 are 2-3 round talent. That was against an absolutely loaded Pac12 schedule – Oregon, Washington (nat’l champ runner up), USC (1st round WR), UCLA (chip kelly).

He could end up being the steal of UDF.

  18. Aqualung Says:

I agree, Sly. I’ll actually be shocked if he doesn’t make the team. Todd loves him some brainiacs. Aside from Winfield and Lavonte, nobody else can decode Todd’s hexadecimal multi-variant play calls. Shiloh’s brains are what gets him a job.
