Unknown yapper expects bounceback for Bucs defender.

Joe never knew Bubba the Love Sponge worked for the PFF tribe.

An unidentified dude wearing a PFF tribe cap, on video in the PFF tribe’s Twitter feed sounding astonishingly like local radio personality Bubba the Love Sponge, expects Bucs safety Antoine Winfield to blow up (again) this fall and reclaim his title of the NFL’s best safety like the All-Pro Winfield was in 2023.

“He missed a handful of games [with an] injury [and] was never quite right, even down the stretch,” the unknown PFFer said. “Winfield, he’s the glue that holds this whole defense together.

“I mean, he’s one of the best safeties in football the three years prior.”

That’s not exactly incorrect, either.

Last year, Winfield was barely recognizable. The Bucs said it all stemmed from Winfield’s health, or lack thereof. The unknown PFFer agrees.

“Get him healthy, get him playing all 17 games, get him a little bit more fluent in coverage,” the unknown PFFer said.

A healthy, productive and old-school Winfield could himself flip this pass defense from bottom-five to above average.

As for the unknown PFFer, well, yes, Bubba the Love Sponge, who Joe never understood, is still far more interesting than the tribe’s mindless “grades.”
