Anthony Walker Raves About SirVocea Dennis

June 12th, 2025

Bucs ILB Anthony Walker.

Anthony Walker didn’t hold back.

The thirtysomething inside linebacker and old friend of Lavonte David who the Bucs signed this offseason, was over the top about a Bucs linebacker.

No, Walker didn’t go ga-ga over David. We all know David is a franchise icon. But it was oft-injured third-year linebacker from Pitt, SirVocea Dennis, who the veteran Walker made out to be the second coming of Derrick Brooks.

“He’s going to be a great player for a long time, Walker gushed of Dennis. Then, Walker explained that Dennis made a play — in underwear football no less! — that Walker said was one of the best plays he’s seen a linebacker make.

Whoa!

Joe gets that teammates can and often will get lost in hyperbole when speaking about a teammate. You don’t often hear a player speak of a teammate, “That rotten, no good SOB… ” Even though the player in question may be a rotten, no good SOB.

But elevating Dennis to NFL greatness, well, Joe cannot stretch the imagination that far.

Could Dennis become great? Sure. But Joe would like to see him stay on the field for a change. A guy could have the talent of Lawrence Taylor but if he’s always in the tub, it doesn’t matter how good a guy is or can be.

Walker also said he’s been so impressed by the Bucs culture “from top to bottom,” he’d like to finish his career here.

For a player competing at a same position to compliment another player is notable.
SVD has impressed me whenever he’s been healthy.
Let’s hope he stays that way.

  2. Pickgrin Says:

Its your time to shine Sirvocea! Big year coming up for #8.

  3. PSL Bob Says:

There’s that culture thing again. A new player on the team remarking about what a great organization this is. The Bucs have definitely built something everyone can be proud of. Now, if they can just get us back to the promised land.

I always thought both Dennis & Kancey had the potential coming out of Pitt. I had more confidence in Kancey but I always thought Dennis could be a good player, too!

  5. LouisFriend Says:

Gerald McCoy and Calijah Kancey were 2 other Bucs defenders who were sidelined by injuries their first two seasons. McCoy ended up staying healthy and is the 3rd or 4th best DT in Bucs history. Kancey looks like he’s getting past his calf problems and is on his way.

SirVocea deserves a little grace from everyone unless or until he suffers another injury. There’s a very real possibility he gets past it and becomes a solid->great contributor.

Sometimes the body just matures with some guys a little slower and with all the pounding these guys take they can suffer set backs. He had an issue that needed to be taken care of for a while, had another injury, maybe soft tissue, muscle pull/hamstring, can’t remember. But with the recovery time it seems like he solidified himself in training and rehab and hopefully now has all the issues behind him and nothing new pops up. I think when Jensen went down the Bucs really looked at some of the practice’s and what they could do to avoid those freak contact injuries during camp.

    BUCS are TOP NOTCH ORGANIZATION!!!
Good things coming in this 50th Anniversary Season 🙌🙌🙌🙌

    Kool-Aid Days
This is the time of year where every player on every team is destined to the be the greatest of all time. Love it. Drink the Kool-Aid. It’s fun.

  9. Truth be Told Says:

All about availability however unfortunately with this Player and the Position he plays. If he can step in and be able to actually drop in coverage and not have everything go over their head for the whole season -that would be awesome. Of course we need a better Pass Rush. Go Bucs!

  10. Teacherman Says:

    He’s very fluid.

    Very pliable. Very smooth.

And against Detroit he looked like a psycho killer having fun hitting people.

    He’s only 225. So he’s like a LB/S hybrid. Which is what I like.

I am really excited to see what he does!

Because he’s smart! And intelligence is the most important thing for a LB!

  11. Billlbuc Says:

After hearing Bowles I’m tons more confident that Dennis will be healthy from here on out and the injury that finally got surgery was responsible for both seasons . Wish they would have gotten it the first year but you do what your trainers suggest and the initial prognosis was he could work through it and it would heal .

  12. Darin Says:

He was by far their best defender when on the field. Not hard at all to see he could be great. I guess some people don’t see the whole field while watching football either. Stay healthy big fella

  13. Anyhony Says:

The night we drafted Kancey I watched his highlights and couldn’t take my eyes off Dennis, he just kept stealing the highlights, then we got him the next day.

  14. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

Walker sounds like a good pickup.

  15. Brian in St Pete Says:

Let’s not forget, it’s not like Voss has been up and down with injury after injury (IE #35). He has been dealing with the SAME injury since college and now he has finally gotten it surgically repaired. Now is his time to shine.

  16. garro Says:

LOL Walker is just happy to be out of Miami. I would be.

    Go Bucs!

  17. Jeffrey Becker Says:

I’m with Walker, I’ve seen it from day one. Best blitzer I’ve seen in like forever, and his side to side prowess last season in small sample was exhilarating. My only wonder is whether he can do it without having David alongside him. Is he benefiting from being able to ignore David’s side completely? Here’s to good health and our defensive MVP award.
