“You Won’t Have Any Jerks”
May 10th, 2025
“Greeny, what next? Will The Athletic claim you’re the only reason Mike Evans re-signed?”
It was a shining reality-show moment for the culture the Bucs are so proud of at One Buc Palace.
Unscripted. Raw.
Thousands of Ira Kaufman Podcast listeners already heard about this (they often hear stuff before it hits these pages), but now Joe has the full quote and context.
As most fans know, Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht is locked in on making sure the Bucs only add quality dudes to the Tampa Bay roster. Character matters a ton in Licht’s front office, more than at most teams.
And that brings Joe to former Bucs long snapper Zach Triner (2019-2023). He joined the Denver Broncos last year. Working out at the University of Colorado this month, Triner encountered Bucs undrafted rookie free agent Shilo Sanders of the famous Sanders clan.
Of course, Sanders was shooting a video of his move to Tampa in between his training. He engaged in conversation with Triner about life in Tampa and Sanders asked Triner for good spots or places to hang out.
Triner talked about Hyde Park and then, without prompting of any kind, Triner told Sander he’ll be surrounded by quality teammates.
“Your rookie class will end up being pretty good because Jason [Licht] and his crew of guys, like they just do a good job screening good people so that will be cool. You won’t have any jerks to deal with,” Triner said.
Telling moment right there. Again, Triner wasn’t asked. He referenced the GM, no coach or veteran player.

I just saw that Carr is officially retiring – that’s another good break for the Bucs as he carved up Bowles super soft garbage zone defenses.

Erik, right on brother! This is a team you’re proud to cheer for, win or lose!
Let’s hope their play matches their character.

Somewhere Dan Sileo is shaking his head….talk about your A-holes and D-bags. Gives me another reason to tune out terrestrial radio!

Wild that you would mention Triner. He got cut this morning.

After seeing the rookie pressers , I looks as if Jesus will be an extra coach in the Bucs locker room…

Rod… what the hell are you babbling about?
Carr on the Saints played in two games against the Bucs/Bowles and never even made it over 200 yards passing. One of the games he actually got utterly shut down with 127 yards passing.

Am I the only one that wants to see much more of Sean Tucker? If he gets a hole, he’s GONE with his 4.3 speed. Like Saquon gone except faster. Great pass catcher too. Would love to see him a lot on third downs- especially third and long. He will also beat any linebacker to the edge. Incredible athlete…

Every American should emulate the Bucs culture!

Ummm. Doubt it. Jesus would tell them all to take their bling, sell it, and give the $ to the poor.

One small disappointment from last year, besides crumbling against the Redskins, West that we didn’t use Tucker more. That Saints game was amazing.

Stpetematt, no you aren’t the only one.

GoneGator: Not to be sacrilegious but if he led them to a super bowl?????

If Jesus led them to the super bowl?

Seriously I hope Saanders was making that video for his family because what kind of pinhead would think an undrafted college player would have enough followers who would be interested in him moving. Only a Sanders,
May 10th, 2025 at 9:34 pm
bballwasher61, you bet. Center might be the most important player on the team. If he doesn’t;t get the ball back right to the QB, no play. He’s where it starts and possibly ends. He doesnt block the play is probably DOA as well. Sorry I made you think so hard.

You can have high character AND be elite.
It’s actually an awesome combo.
I remember Dungy saying a long time ago when asked to describe risky or low character guys, paraphrasing, he said: the low character guys check out when they’re down and quit.
That always stuck with me.
I admire Licht and the Bucs process.
