The Bucs And… The Dixie Chicks?

May 31st, 2025

Balance!

Joe admits to head-shaking, Looney Tunes-style, like when Yosemite Sam got blasted in the face by a cannon.

The Bucs have as balanced an offense as… the Dixie Chicks?

Yeah, that’s far out there. But who else comes up with head-scratching, far-out-there nonsense like the PFF tribe?

Armed with their well-trained orangutans sitting in Irish dorms, cobbling weirdo stats off broadcast tape, the PFF tribe tried to make the case for the Dixie Chicks having an offense on par with the Bucs’.

That’s the word from Max Chadwick and Dalton Wasserman.

Biggest strength in 2024: Offensive balance

With the addition of the dynamic Bucky Irving to the team’s backfield, the Buccaneers boasted one of the NFL’s most balanced offenses last season. They ranked among the top nine teams in … 2024. The only other teams to accomplish that feat last season were the Falcons and Ravens.

Look, at times last year (specifically against the Bucs) with Kirk Cousins and Bijan Robinson, Atlanta did have a really good, balanced offense. But when Cousins started to slide, that “balance” was out the window. And while Joe likes Dixie Chicks quarterback Michael Penix a lot, he was nowhere near as consistent as Baker Mayfield.

The Bucs ranked third in passing and fourth in rushing last year. While Atlanta was a surprising fourth in passing (the Bucs padded the Dixie Chicks’ numbers big-time), Atlanta was 10th in rushing.

So statistically, Atlanta was good on balance offensively, bot top-three like Tampa Bay. And from midseason through the latter half of the season, the Dixie Chicks were not consistent at quarterback.

28-3, Superbowls=0. Atl sux. Nuff said. Go Bowles!

  2. Teacherman Says:

The falcons have shown teams exactly how NOT to draft.

2021 #4 Kyle Pitts Tight end Florida
2022 #8 Drake London Wide receiver
    2023 #8 Bijan Robinson
    2024 #8 Michael Penix Jr

The last four years destroyed their team!

A small bug fast TE at #4? Lmao!

A small but fast WR at #8? Lmao!

A part time backup RB at # 8 to Algiers (who is a beast)

And a rookie QB at #8 after you signed Cousins for 40 million per year? Lmao!

    What does teacherman say?

Invest in the trenches. Invest in big bodies. Invest in bullies.

Don’t invest top 10 picks on small, gimmicky players!

The falcons are the blueprint on how to destroy a roster!

And they let Grady Jarrett go? Lmao!

    Never draft the falcons!

The Falcons offensive line not better than ours
That’s gonna show the ama have tape on Penix now will see

  4. Fred McNeil Says:

PFF is just just trying to sound like they actually watch football tale all day long and actually know what they’re looking at. They don’t. They just babble about whatever they figure will generate the most ad income and add some weird math mumbo jumbo to make seems like they actually analyzed it all. I suppose it’s fun to quibble over, but it means precisely nothing.

Teacherman, nice rehash of Atlanta’s picks. 2021 they took Kyle Pitts at #4 (meh+) and we took JTS at #32. (Meh-). I guess you could say Pitts is a smidge better than JTS, but Pitts was far more of a disappointment overall. Pitts option is almost $11 mil. JTS’ option would have been $13.2 mil.
In 2022 Drake London West a pretty good pick, but not great. He’s better than Hall, but Hall was pick #33. I’d definitely say Kansey is way better than Robinson for a cheaper overall contract. Barton and Pennix are here to compare, but look at all the cap they wasted on Cousins. I do not see Atlanta displacing us unless Pennix really come on like Mahomes on steroids.

    @teacherman

“ Don’t invest top 10 picks on small, gimmicky players!”

So Liam Coen screwed the pooch with his first round pick, right?

    Small. Gimmicky.

    I think so. You?

  7. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

Death, taxes, and the Falclowns chocking 2nd half of season.

  8. Crickett Baker Says:

Chocking? Is that shocking or chucking??

  9. gotbbucs Says:

He’s got the Bucs preseason ranked 10th in the NFL, Falcons 16th, Panthers 29th, and Saints 30th.

Sounds fair to me. Don’t really care about the semantics.

  10. Aqualung Says:

Todd made Kirk’s Cousin look like prime Marino. Proof of what Todd is and isn’t.

  11. unbelievable Says:

I would really call Pitts or London “small” (6’6” and 6’4” respectively), but agree with the overall assessment of ATL and their recent drafting. Hopefully they screwed up in 2025 too.

  12. unbelievable Says:

    *would not* really call

  13. garro Says:

Ok 1st define “balanced” I’m guessing they have come up with their own new and improved stat for balanced. They neeed to stop this crap.

    Go Bucs!

  14. Teacherman Says:

    Travis Hunter is a beast.

CB is an extremely important position.

But yes. They made a mistake.

    And they overpaid for Hainsey.

Hunter is a dog but I don’t know if he was worth that trade.

  15. FrontFour Says:

Falcons swept us last year so until that changes, glass house here throwing stones for draft is stupid. Signing CK for $$$$ then drafting Penix, now that was dumb. Use that $40m to build the rest of the roster and look out. Sux be them.

  16. Mike Johnson Says:

Say what you like here. But until we can beat the ATL Falcons? They own us. We will get our shot at redemption the 1st game of the season. GO BUCS!
