Report: Bucs To Play Rams In Thanksgiving Nightcap

May 12th, 2025

Considering WDAE radio host Pat Donovan sent this directly Joe’s way, and considering Donovan is employed by the Buccaneers Radio Network, Joe is taking this to the bank.

This evening, Donovan dropped via X that the Bucs will play Thanksgiving night at the Rams.

The fourth Thursday in November just got a lot better!

Of course, Thursday night games are brutal for the road team, and a cross-country trip is never ideal. However, Joe did hear a little chatter last week from important people that perhaps the NFL will schedule the Bucs’ game at Seattle immediately before or after the Los Angeles game, so the Bucs can have an option to spend a full week on the west coast and avoid multiple long trips.

The official 2025 schedule will be released Wednesday night at 8 p.m.

Donovan is likely to share a little more tomorrow on The Pat And Aaron Show.

Hope this Seattle game happens the week before.
    Go Bucs!

  2. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

Any given Sunday (Thursday). We thought the Charges game was going to be rough and we steamrolled them.

Add to that the Bucs seem to implode on national stage, and they have the same disappointment as DC, SO, a LOT of challenges between them and a win!

  4. DailyRich Says:

So not only a West Coast night game on a short week, but there’s a chance they spend Thanksgiving week away from home? Ugh.

  5. Drdneast Says:

Tye, they don’t implode, they just play against better competition in nationally televised night games. I can;t remember one game last season where the team imploded. Maybe the coaching staff but not the players.

  6. Rod Munch Says:

    Well, that’s an L.

I figured that regardless the Bucs will lose vs the Rams, since that’s just the way things are, at least this takes care of a west coast road game, Thursday night game and prime time game all in one sweep, all games the Bucs tend to do poorly in.

  7. unbelievable Says:

Yeah that stinks if true, IMO. We suck in prime time as it is, but a short week cross country trip? Oof.

Hopefully the Seattle game is the previous Sunday so they can stay out west and then have extra time to rest afterwards at home.

  8. Captain Dan Says:

The league seldom does us any scheduling favors.

  9. Saskbucs Says:

If I could pick a night game, I’d take it in LA. Bucs in recent history (last 6-7 years) have had decent success in LA. 2 wins against the chargers and tight games vs the Rams.

  10. unbelievable Says:

@Rod – if this holds, that means Bucs are getting 2 Thursday night games this season. Turrible

  11. rrsrq Says:

Break the trend on night games against the Rams… have we beat the Rams in an evening game since the Shaun King and Warrick Dunn first down. Will it be a mustard and ketchup game for the late night turkey sandwich

  12. Tony Says:

All of their games need to be either 1:00 or 4:00 because they seem to go to sleep from 8:00 on. Seriously it’s like they all just go to sleep because yeah they very rarely do anything during a primetime game. It’s like they’re a bunch of birds or something. They must go to sleep when the sun goes down.

All them high character Christian boys, they ain’t used to being up late

  14. KABucs Says:

there are a few things the books need to do to make themselves a great team instead of just a good team of wins 10 games and a deal for division.

    1. Play much better defense against the pass… of course
    2. 6 – 0 in NFCS for once
    3. Have a very good home record
    4. Win the close ones agains teams with a winning record
    5. Be well over .500 in week night and Sun evening games
    6. Win 12 games min

I realize it’s a tough list to hit on all six but we need to hit on most of this list to truly be considered great… good health is pretty much mandatory.

  15. KABucs Says:

… and we really have to avoid that mid-season slump we’ve been doing for a couple years.

  16. Let ‘em bake Says:

Baker at so-fi…. Win in rams debut. Crush Denver as a ram in that building. Crush chargers too. I think bake gets fired up to play in so if.

  17. Kenton Smith Says:

The day after Baker asked for his release at Carolina Sean McVay had him on a plane to LA. After the Rams crushed Denver 51-14 – Denver had the 3rd best defense in the NFL that year- he was all over the media talking about it being way past incredible what he’d witnessed in 3 weeks. He knows Baker very well and he knows very well with the offense Baker’s bringing to SO-FI that he’s the underdog. At Home. He will have no problem convincing his team that they are the underdogs. No matter. Just another rock in the road. Can’t wait to see Kancy and Reddick and Vea and YaYa zero in on Stafford. 35-14 Bucs. I love Thanksgiving. It’s my favorite holiday. Is this a sign?

  18. kgh4life Says:

Loss for the Bucs. Prime time game and Mcvay is too much for Bowles.

  19. Jmarkbuc Says:

Off topic, but the Bengals aren’t communicating with Hendrickson.

They are only obligated to pay him 15M this season. Seems to me he’d play for 25 somewhere else if that’s all they’re gonna do.

    Puro RAMS

  21. Ledesma Says:

    Puro rams…gonna b tough…

  22. Ledesma Says:

    From the OC

  23. Ledesma Says:

    RAMS

  24. Ledesma Says:

    Just sayin

  25. Aqualung Says:

Chalk it up. Bucs come out flat and seem bewildered that Stafford throws for 420 yards and 4 touchdowns while completing 43 passes. The Rams never punt. But Todd is proud that his defense only allowed 85 yards on the ground.

  26. MelvinJunior Says:

Was literally just thinking the exact same thing, at this exact same moment, right before reading your comment, Jmarkbuc!”
