Morning Cup Of Joe
May 13th, 2025Welcome to your Morning Cup of Joe, an eye-opener to help Joe’s readers ease into their busy workday with a few football links, wacky news and a pleasant distraction.
Cowboys and Eagles to open the season on Thursday night. Try not to get too excited. NBC can’t slobber enough over the NFC East. There has to be a college game on somewhere that night, shouldn’t there? Guess for Joe the season opens the next night when the Chiefs (?) are rumored to be playing the Chargers in Brazil. [NFL]

Rich Eisen takes his show to BSPN. Eisen’s show is better than anything else that outfit broadcasts other than NFL/college football and maybe even college basketball content. Joe can tolerate Eisen’s peanut gallery far more than Pat McAfee’s (Joe very much likes McAfee, just not the peanut gallery). And while on the subject, why the hell do sports talk shows now have to have a peanut gallery? Howard Stern had one but those guys were professional comedians who added to the show, like Jackie “The Jokeman” Martling, Artie Lange and Billy West. Sports dudes just have board jockeys. Enough! Almost as bad as that bearded dude who always wants facetime on Kay Adams’ show. We’re watching for freaking Kay Adams, not your ugly mug! Clown. [The Athletic]

It’s relatively easy to see why they “slobber” over the NFC East.
Giants – #1 city by population in the U.S.
Philadelphia – #6
Dallas – #9
Washing – #23 The Nation’s Capital
Television, JBF, and ALL advertising driven businesses are driven by the number of eyeballs they can attract.
If the NFL got the same share of audience in every city the NFC East clearly provides more eyeballs IE more $$$.
It’s just bizness nothing personal. That opening matchup provides the 6th and 9th markets combined. The NFL sees $$$$$$$$

Hiring Vrabel- # 1 move for me.

I waited until a decent hour yesterday before trying it. LOL. Anyway, my first try, instead of a pickle, I just poured a Yuengling over about 1/2 oz of pickle juice. Gotta say it was tasty, and very mild. Could try a whole oz next time.

Not to mention what you didn’t even mention…
Giants – #1 city by population in the U.S. … and it’s New York, regardless of how bad both of their teams suck, it seems like the Giants have always had way more fans than the Jets. Maybe it’s the fact they’ve won some super Bowls since 1970
Philadelphia – #6 Just won a super bowl
Dallas – #9 Considered America’s team and have fans all over the place, though I really can’t stand them.
Washington – #23 The Nation’s Capital … went to the NFC championship game and beat down the Detroit Lions to get there

Oh Rich my man! You have just screwed the pooch my brother. I had begun to suspect that Eisen had sold out but now he has just confirmed it. Sad day.
I think Joe dislides Chris Berman even though at this point he is a shadow of his former self. I feel the same way about the media creation of McAfee The dude flat out annoys the hell out of me of late.
Go Bucs!

Nobody in the NFL gives up $30 million? Isn’t that exactly what Chris Godwin did to stay with the Bucs?
May 13th, 2025 at 8:53 am
You “give up” $30 mil when you’ve already made over $200mil and your arm is about to “fall off” for good.
Peanut gallery’s – solo hosts need “someone” to talk to. Can’t just have a laugh track cued up can you? Dan Patrick led the way on the sports side. You need a producer at least or a small group of bums to play off of as a foil. Even the 620 personalities use their producers sometimes too.

Just a guess after reading the article, Cousins gets traded to the Saints or possibly Rodgers. Unsure about the others listed. Doubt Jameis would get his chance again there, but you never know.
That entire Pasco thing will definitely be a Dateline episode. Crazy stuff.
May 13th, 2025 at 9:53 am
Rodgers too old for THAT offensive line the Ain’ts currently have, and Atlanta will not trade to a division opponent.
Peanut Gallery = men’s version of The View.

LOL @ that ChatGPT divorce story… I’m guessing there was a lot else going on the marriage were not hearing about.
Then again, there’s lots of stupid people out there so anything is possible!

Speaking of stupid, apparently I can’t type correct sentences yet at 7 in the morning…

Peanut galleries exist so that the faux alphas have something to make them feel alpha.
We’ve all seen the cabinet.

Nothing like a fat man dressed as a woman placed in charge of public health to make one feel like an alpha. LOL
