Emeka Egbuka’s Quick Burst
May 30th, 2025
Video surfaces of fun play.
The impressive play in underwear football that Joe witnessed on Tuesday came from Bucs’ first-round pick wide receiver Emeka Egbuka. A day later, Joe described (again) how Egbuka looks very smooth on the practice fields behind One Buc Palace.
With Mike Evans and Chris Godwin not attending this particular OTA session, Egbuka got lots of work with the first-team offense.
And while it’s underwear football (think flag football), it seems Baker Mayfield and Egbuka are very much on the same page.
This Egbuka just seems to have a knack for getting open and quicker feet than Joe thought.
Egbuka caught a pass over the middle from Mayfield and the moment he had possession and got his feet set, he wheeled to his left and simply exploded downfield. His first two or three steps were lightning fast and created separation for good YAC.
If that wasn’t a fluke, Joe strongly believes linebackers and safeties are going to be shamed trying to defend this guy Egbuka.
Well, Joe is pretty sure the Bucs published the play Joe wrote about. The video (below) highlights two Egbuka catches. The second is the catch-and-run Joe is referencing.
Unfortunately, whomever produced the video got too slick for himself/herself. He/she brought the video to a dead stop when Egbuka caught the ball, so a viewer can’t get a full sense of Egbuka’s quickness with his first two or three steps.
Why did he/she have to do that? smh
The video offers a sense of how quick Egbuka is on his first couple of steps through how players on the practice field react in the background. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Joe knows it’s just underwear football without hitting or tackling of any sort. So it’s unknown how Egbuka reacts when he gets jammed at the line.
But so far Joe can tell why the Bucs were enamored on draft day.
(Fans can also see how Bucs defenders pull up as they approach ballcarriers like Mike Jenkins used to in regular season games. This is a hallmark of underwear football.)

All comes down to if we can beat the eagles

Best player then available. Genius move, yet should be conventional wisdom. Draft the best player. If it’s close, go with greater need. This was a pick for a need in 2027. And it will pay immediate dividends.

They’ll need all the points possible with Bowles running the defense.
Perhaps the pick was also a hedge against the Grand Canyon like wide open defensive backfield that Kirk Cousins made into his playground.
I still think Barron was the better choice at #19.
Looks like Bowles didn’t want a starting CB competing with Dean.

Either way Joe. That vid was a Rookie throughly enjoying himself making some vets look…slow. Ok I get it he has wheels. Wow!
Go Bucs!

SUPERBOWLLLLLLLLLLLL

Call me crazy but I’d rather lose to the Eagles in the regular season then beat them in the playoffs. We beat the Eagles, Commanders and Lions last year in the regular season and I knew beating either one of them again would be a hard task and the Commanders confirmed my beliefs. History suggest it’s hard to beat a good team twice. Ask the Eagles and KC during our Super Bowl Years.

The Bucs might have stopped the video so opponents wouldn’t get an early warning of what they should come to fear.

I’m from ohio and got to see a lot of him. The man is solid. Barring injuries, this is going to be a fun season!

You can barely see it but Emeka has some amazing hand work.

Still chuckling over the “Waco Kid” reference.
I truly think it’s a great nickname for the kid.

Eagles my arse, how about Commanders. That’s the team that’s going to be in our way. We own the Eagles. And everyone was high on every player in the draft but I kept saying Egbuka over and over. Beast player at #19 in draft. Did like the lb out of UCLA that went to Bengals.

This is why I’m ok with ME13 missing these OTAs. It’s giving EE plenty if reps and getting him dialed in. I don’t feel the same away about reddick tho lol wish he was getting dialed in here with his teammates but again I’ll shut up when he starts sacking QBs

Was that Morrison in coverage?

Hey morons on the Bucs social team – just having close-ups of players completely removes anything interesting that they’re doing. The close-ups are good for b-roll, but if you’re trying to show how good a player is, try zooming out, you morons.
