Bucs Will Play Week 2 In Houston On Monday Night; Week 3 Is The Home Opener

May 14th, 2025

More schedule news!

JoeBucsFan.com has learned the Bucs, after heading to Atlanta for a Week 1 game, Tampa Bay will fly to Houston to face C.J. Stroud and the Texans on Monday Night Football.

That’s right — back-to-back road games to kick off the 2025 season.

And what is the Bucs’ prize for that challenge?  It’s a Week 3 home opener, Sunday, Sept. 21, against the Jets at The Licht House. That early Week 3 schedule reveal comes courtesy of the New York Post.

Joe does not have times for these games. The official NFL schedule release is tonight at 8 p.m.

The Tampa Bay Rays have a home game against the Red Sox on Sept. 21 at Steinbrenner Field across the street from The Licht House. And the Rays use part of the Bucs’ parking lot. Does that mean a Sunday Night Football game?

Wtf i thought week 3 we all thought would be on the road because of that issue

  2. chris l Says:

Joe – a friend gave me this which is like the official leak page: [LOL “Official Leak.” 🙂 ]

  3. Scott Says:

We will definitely get our pass defense tested that day

  4. miken Says:

Week 3 sunday night football is KC at the Giants. So I guess week 3 will be tough parking!

  5. adam from ny Says:

dam, a monday nighter against the texans…we don’t fare too well in recent years in these national games…

hopefully we head into the home opener vs the jets with at least a 1-1 record…

i’d say a split in atlanta and texas would sound fairly good – then open a can off whoop azz on the lowly jets in the intense heat & sun…

2-1 would sound okay after 3 weeks…3-0 would be even better

  6. adam from ny Says:

    keep leaking joe…keep leaking………. 🙂

  7. Leighroy Says:

The NFL doesn’t care in the least if a Bucs parking lot is used for Rays baseball games during overlapping game times. I’m sure they’d laugh at the thought.

  8. First Last Says:

Justin Fields week 3? Sounds familiar to 2023. Maybe Shaq is back to get another pick six lmao

  9. Jeffs grandpa Says:

When do the Bucs go to buffalo need to get hotel and plane tickets

  10. BridleOaksBuc Says:

Sox early afternoon and Jets late afternoon…Those fans should be great…Talk about your A-holes and D-bags! That being said, what a great way to spend a day just walking from one game to the next!!

Except they don’t. The NFL schedules around MLB in every city where the NFL & MLB stadia are in close proximity to each other.

  12. Lokog Says:

    Damn i don’t have espn

  13. Rod Munch Says:

I don’t know, do the 1300 people going to Rays games actually impact the parking situation that much?

  14. BobbyuBucsFan Says:

This also means first two games are in domes and not the September heat. If we can get a night game in week 3 we would avoid the late summer heat. I think that would be good for the players and even better for fans. Who remember Wk1 opening days at 1pm? No thank you!

  15. Mike C Says:

Short week, great, we won’t win the home opener smh

  16. Fan of the South Says:

    Mayfield Lifetime vs Jets 2-1 64-111 Passing 57% 1 TD 1 INT RTG 79.8 .
Upside is Field’s is much worse vs Bucs.

Jets Game will be more about the Defenses.

    2024 Defense.

    Yards Allowed J 3rd B 18th
    Rushing J 17th B 4th
    Passing J 4th B
    Points Allowed J 20th B 16th

Being a Passing League the Bucs should be fine. Even though they may be able to run the ball.

  17. Steve Says:

That’s dissapointing because we really come out strong and then slump + injuries, so I was hoping we’d get some of the tough opponents up front.

  18. Pryda30 Says:

    3-0

  19. Gbobucsfan Says:

Every team deals with short weeks and traveling and injuries and weather….Lynch, Brooks, Sapp, rice and Barber didn’t care about those things and still got the job done.

  20. BucsMinisterFuller Says:

Can we just play the Jets every week?

  21. HC Grover Says:

    0-2 or 2-0

  22. Durango 95 Says:

Two away games to start the season. That’s the bad news. The good news is that both of these games are very short flights. Always helps.

  23. Gman Says:

Per the NY Post…the Jets game week 3 is at 1pm. Maybe they have the Rays play Sunday night or a doubleheader on Saturday. USF plays at home on Saturday but that doesn’t take up much parking unfortunately.

  24. Vanessa Anne Says:

According to my just-now Google searches, the Rays game is scheduled to start at 12:10 pm.

That opens up a better possibility of a 4:25 pm kickoff for the Bucs against the Jets.

Parking will still be a disaster, but we seem to do a lot better in recent years when we play in the daylight versus under the lights.

As for the Houston and Atlanta games, our whole team is going to have to bring its A-game to those contests.

The one thing I took away from the Falcons draft class is that they’re serious about making a run for the division title this year.

And, C.J. Stroud lit us up the last time we played the Texans.

We can still win both games, but we’ll need to play mistake-free football.

  25. Zman Says:

I’ll be in ATL, just like last year.

  26. FortMyersDave Says:

Gman, the problem with USF playing on Saturday at RJS is that the field could be torn up if the game is played in wet conditions.

Joes, how do the Rays and Bucs split parking concessions on Sundays, time you enter the lot or pre-paid pass?. Just curious. Rays charge 35 dollars to park for a game in the lots, I am guessing the Bucs will be a tad more….

  27. Scotty Mack Says:

Believe it or not, the Bucs have a lifetime 1-6 record against Houston – their worst record vs. any team in the entire NFL (tied with Pittsburgh). I would hope this would be the year they gain a game, but things like that seem to occur for a reason. It’s a matchup thing, I guess.
