BSPN Software Not Hip On Bucs
May 29th, 2025
Software says…
No, Joe didn’t expect the Bucs to get much respect from a computer program licensed, if not owned by the four-letter.
Joe has come to expect that the powers that be in national sports media think of the Bucs as mere pests capable of winning a poor division and not much else.
(Getting slapped around regularly in prime time games when not playing the Eagles tends to reinforce such an image.)
So Seth Walder, a man who never met a number he didn’t like, was giddy as a schoolgirl with the release of BSPN’s power index.
How excited is Walder? He ran out of his office to celebrate by buying a new mousepad.
The chipmunks who programmed the software seem to think the Bucs are the No. 14 team in the league. Again, Joe is not surprised, but Joe has issues with four teams ranked ahead of Tampa Bay.
Packers No. 8
Are the Packers really that much better than the Bucs? OK, yeah, they finally got a receiver for Jordan Love. Joe could argue the Bucs are on the very same level, probably better.
Joe would take Baker Mayfield over Jordan Love in a heartbeat. Love is still too up-and-down. He’ll have a stretch of good games and then stink out loud for weeks.
Joe also remembers the Bucs — in December, no less, where Florida teams go to freeze! — marching into Lambeau Field two years ago and putting a beat down on the mighty Packers on their beloved frozen tundra. But, the Packers play in the NFC North and Vince Lombardi and Brett Favre and drama queen Aaron Rodgers made their bones there. So naturally, with such a large fanbase, the Packers will always get the benefit of the doubt.
(Always remember and never forget, when it comes to TV and the NFL, it’s not about integrity or fairness. It’s all about how many eyeballs you pull to the flatscreen.)
Chargers No. 9
Joe witnessed from the press box of SoFi Stadium the Bucs absolutely curb stomp the Chargers. East Coast teams aren’t supposed to do that on the Left Coast.
Have the Chargers improved that much in one offseason? OK, yeah, new coaches in their second seasons usually hit their stride. And Joe is a big Jim Harbaugh fan. Still, though Harbaugh believes in physical football, the Bucs flew to Los Angeles, punched the Chargers in their mouths and destroyed them at their own game.
49ers No. 11
Do people love Kyle Shanahan that much? The 49ers *barely* pulled off a win in Tampa last year in the last second of the game on a field goal, and that was when the Bucs played on a short week, without Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Jamel Dean.
There’s no way you can tell Joe the 49ers are better this year. They lost a lot of talent, especially on the defensive line. And Christian McCaffrey isn’t getting any younger. This isn’t the first time Joe has seen the 49ers ranked higher than the Bucs. Joe just cannot figure that out at all.
Texans No. 13
So Houston lost a really good left tackle and their best receiver and they are supposed to be better than the Bucs? That’s another one Joe can’t figure out.
For Joe, it boils down to this: Do you think the Bucs improved this offseason? Joe thinks they did. Apparently, software programmers don’t believe so.

It’s always the same – no respect for the Bucs. Go out and win then they have no choice but to recognize us.
On another note, my Pewter Chris Godwin Jersey arrived yesterday. Very nice. Hopefully see more Pewter games this year as I don’t recall us having one last year.

Did you happen to see his list from last year? Had the Jets, Dolphins, browns, jags, bears, colts, and chargers ranked above our beloved Bucs! Every single year this team gets disrespected even the years we had TB12 people were doubting this team.

They dont care about why care about them, haters gonna hate

The Bucs should be right where the Bengals are- at the very *least*.

Surprised Carolina or Atlanta were not ranked ahead of the Bucs.
Love the disrespect. Keeps the Bucs without big heads and motivates via the best CHIP of all.
The one on the shoulder.

A computer can only spit out results from the information it is fed. Who knows who programmed this thing? A Eagles fan?
Like the rest of us, it cannot calculate the impact rookies will have on each team, nor can it predict injuries or upcoming coaching decisions in key moments.
In other words, don’t let the prognostications from an inanimate object become anthropomorphic. It’s just a pile of motherboards, or nuts and bolts if you wanna go old school. No reason to let it get to you.
These things ain’t human … yet!
And isn’t it more fun to get angry at some human who doesn’t know what he or she is talking about?

Houston also lost Tank Dell to a HUGE knee injury, he won’t be back in week 1, if ever

More receipts, Jason. More receipts…

JA, we learn something new every day. Anthropomorphic- having human characteristics-yep, every single day. Now to get back to business. Plenty of beating hearts out there without a clue of which they speak to get angry at. This oughta be fun!

Perhaps playing in the worst division in the league is part of the reason.
Maybe the fact we won the division at 8-9 a few years ago and lost the playoff game at home.
Being 1-3 in the postseason under Bowles doesn’t inspire much confidence.
Prime time night games are the bugaboo for this coach.
Bottom line, it’s the defense. Goes well on a roast beef sandwich, but not much else.

7th best in NFC is fair. Based on 2024 record alone Bucs were tied with the Rams @ 10-7 with Rams 13 yards from a Championship game and Bucs laying an egg. Tie goes to Rams.
To win a Super Bowl a 3 or 4 game win streak is needed.
Bucs had a 4 game win streak in 2024 against 3 win Giants, 5 win Panthers, 4 win Raiders, and 11 win Chargers.
Super Bowl contenders need to be playing their best at the end and struggling
to beat and Saints team with a winless rookie ain’t it. Were the Bucs capable of winning 4 straight against the 6 teams ahead of them in the NFC rankings?
Sure any given Sunday but not 4 straight. That amazing Cleveland season had a loss in week 14 against the two win Jets with the QB taking 4 sacks, fumbling 3 times and losing two of them. Got lots of passing yards if 29 of 54 for 250 impresses you. Beat a bumbling Steelers team in W.C round, played well against the Chiefs but got knocked out on that second given Sunday.
Bucs will win plenty games in 2025. After all they are in a Division where the competition is ranked 26, 28, and 31. Just won’t be able to tell if Bucs are playing their best as 4 of 5 of the last games are against 26,28, and 31. of course if they go 2-3 over that span it may be as plain as day.

The reason is simple.
May 29th, 2025 at 9:15 am
It really doesn’t like Atlanta @26. 28, 32 for the Panthers and Saints. I’m fine with the ranking. Who cares? I rather come in other teams radar than be picked top 5.

I get and respect some honest football opinions even if I disagree.
Yesterday JA, a poster I respect, pointed out his belief that the Bucs should have taken a D player since that is their greatest need. That makes sense and is an honest argument about STRATEGY.
The losers like Fan of the South, President Bowles, etc simply are here to downgrade the HC whenever possible. They post with ZERO balance. They never point out successes like winning 3 straight Division titles, beating last year’s SB winners in a post season game but TOTALLY CONCENTRATE on the negative.
They are here for…I do not know, they are clearly not fans simply having a balanced view of thngs.

It’s software ergo, garbage in-garbage out.

Garbage In Garbage Out

Bucs rated atop the division.

Comedy.
The Packers love drives me absolutely nuts. Jordan Love is still looked at as a 23 year old who hasn’t reached his potential but soon as he does, look out! I watched him throw 2 pick sixes last year inside his own 15.

Location bias for sure. But IMO Ryans, KS and harbaugh are better HCs than ours.
Texans are a good team and the niners have had our number.
Do not understand the packers at all.
