Sean, great explanation about “ drafting the safe pick”. Sad to see comments like the pick was a cover your ass pick or the “safest pick”. WR 1st round hit rate of 27 percent though, tells the story. Correct it’s folly grading these players before they’ve taken a snap but if you did I’ll bet you’d give Egbuca an A. So would I. Your optimism about this pick, and prediction that all 6 will be on the opening day roster, bodes well for this season. We’re going to be a hoot to watch. And we’ll lose a few games. But not many.

This dive into and all the way through the Bucs’ haul for 2025 is truly impressive. And 11 correct first round picks in this knuckleballing draft, or any draft, is phenomenal. Not only do we have an excellent football team we have draft coverage to match it. What a time to be a Bucs fan…

Proper analysis is thorough. I appreciate both the time and depth of awareness that goes into aficionado grade draft content like this. I’m thrilled the Bucs got a pair of man-capable corners, a power type edge prospect and a late versatile high-motor DT, even if it wasn’t JJ Pegues. There were so many feisty DBs in this draft that I figured the Bucs would chose at least one but two is even better. Adding the whole man coverage dimension with these two and Deion Jones as a dime ILB should do a lot to remedy what ails the Bucs slutty pass defense whether any efforts to generate more sacks are successful or not. Thanks for laying out both the individual prospects and how they fit into the theme and style of roster we are watching develop before our eyes.

I like the Bucs draft and really enjoy trusting Licht and Co. to know what the team needs better than any of us could but there were a few draft hauls that make me a little envious. The Chiefs with Omar Norman-Lott and Nohl Williams as their day two plus snagging Bassa just in front of the Bucs is one. The dastardly Iggles scoring Campbell and Mukuba to add to their defense is another. It also looks like the Falcons may have had the pivotal draft in their franchise’s history. From the first round to their UDFAs- Raheem and that lousy team that beat the Bucs twice last year just got a serious talent injection. Will there be coverage on how the Bucs division opponents drafted as well?
