Baker Mayfield & The Brock Purdy Windfall
May 16th, 2025How good is 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy?
Joe’s not quite sure, but coming off a nothing-special season, Purdy just locked down a contract extension that will guarantee him $55 million per year for three years.
Purdy, 25, was the final pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, aka Mr. Irrelevant. Astute NFL fans have watched the 49ers purge talent and make tough decisions while planning to afford him.
Baker Mayfield, coming off back-to-back strong seasons at 30 years old, will earn nearly $35 million this year. Reliable Spotrac.com puts Mayfield as the 20th-highest paid quarterback, though their list still includes retiring/retired Derek Carr.
Yeah, Mayfield is underpaid. Way underpaid.
And that’s why Joe would like to see the Bucs try to make another bold move this offseason to chase a Super Bowl. (Perhaps a trade for a beastly pass rusher?)
Mayfield’s contract ($40 million next year) runs through the 2026 campaign. Will he want to renegotiate after this season? Or will he just demand market value when his contract runs out?
Joe doesn’t put it past Mayfield to be the very rare quarterback to offer a hometown discount, but that can’t be counted on.
The Bucs have manufactured $20 million-plus for the 2025 season thanks to maneuvers by the gurus at One Buc Palace. Joe presumes that’s cash to keep Mike Evans from entering another disrespectful contract year, or to help extend a stud like Luke Goedeke or a quality piece like Cade Otton. Or maybe it’s money to roll over to help retain Haason Reddick if he has a monster 2025 season.
But that money also provides flexibility to chase another talent before training camp. The Bucs probably won’t have that freedom when Mayfield hits another jackpot.

What a steal they got with Baker for that contract. Got to strike while the irons hot. Go all in next 2 seasons before we have to pay the man which we undoubtedly will! I would love for them to trade for Hendrickson but don’t see it happening. They likely let it roll over to next season.
May 16th, 2025 at 6:18 pm
Baker, look what just happened with Carr. Leaving a little money on the table for quality OL and receivers that get open fast can be a wise investment in future career longevity.
May 16th, 2025 at 6:30 pm
If we traded for Trey Hendrickson we would live rent free in Atlanta’s heads for the foreseeable future.
May 16th, 2025 at 6:37 pm
Purdy is worth every bit of that money.
He’s only 25 and has already led his team to two NFC title games in back to back years and a Superbowl.
What the hell has Faker done? He’s 2-3 in postseason play and never sniffed a Conference title game.
The guy loses games in the biggest moments in the biggest games.
He’s not worth what he’s getting now and should give back some of the money.
The only reason he’s even here is because Licht has no idea how to evaluate or draft a QB. Proof: Winston and Trask. Both busts, at least Winston got 5000 worthless yards in a season. I’ll give him that nugget.
But miss me with all the underpaid nonsense. You get paid for your capabilities.
Faker has shown so far that he isn’t capable of taking the next step.
Prove me wrong!!!!
May 16th, 2025 at 6:41 pm
Gotta see what happens this year with Baker. Joes say he’s had 2 back to back strong seasons but what about the post-season? Lots of football to be played.
Go Bucs
May 16th, 2025 at 6:41 pm
Dude, half the QBs making the big money don’t meet the criteria you’re tossing around. Just say you hate everything about the Bucs. Baker is way underpaid an at least 2 other teams would be happy to pay him.
May 16th, 2025 at 6:44 pm
I like Purdy and think he has that clutch factor about him. His supporting cast has gotten worse over time and that o line has fell off big time. Hard to say who I’d want more but I love Bake and how he slings it. We would be way better off if the defense was at least middle of the pack.
May 16th, 2025 at 6:57 pm
Joe hasn’t gotten the message that they’re not trading for Hendrickson. Clear as day. Not. Gonna. Happen. Not to mention that you haven’t bothered to suggest who they’re unloading from their current edge rushers. Are you kicking Braswell to the curb after 1 season? Are you releasing David Walker before he steps on the field? Or are you including Anthony Nelson in the trade? I would say, outside of maybe Anthony Nelson, that our top 5 OLBs are not going anywhere. Do you think they’d carry 6 OLBs? Hendrickson isn’t a down lineman in our scheme, so let’s not try and wedge him in as a Logan Hall alternative.
Also, in the context of an article about quarterback pay, you’re gonna suggest taking on the giant contract of a 31 year old pass rusher? Really? Wouldn’t we wanna keep some space to extend Baker next year? How about the contracts for Goedeke, hopefully another Evans contract? Hendrickson literally is a moronic idea for roster construction and continuity.
There is absolutely no effing chance they’re trading for Hendrickson unless they could trade Nelson in that deal and pay the guy below market value. Not. Gonna. Happen. Boggles my mind how the ripple effects of these proposed moves isn’t even considered.
At some point you have to put your young guys out there and develop and carry you instead of drooling over every disgruntled player looking for new scenery.

WeakSecondary,
Since coming to the Buxs, Mayfield has proven himself.
You can make your claims, but you ignore the state of the rest of the team as you do so. You seem to pretend it was all on Baker when it wasn’t.
May 16th, 2025 at 7:08 pm
Poor fellas. Joe, you should stat a go fund me page for Baker to compensate for his deprived salary. How can he afford to pay for brunch for so many players and their families?
May 16th, 2025 at 7:12 pm
To be honest, I don’t think ANY QB is worth $50m.
Tom Brady himself didn’t either. He consistently gave discounts to his team
Brock might be getting paid, but he’s not going to have the players he needs around him if the team he is leading cannot pay them
So far as Mayfield, I think he’s earned some trust, but still has things to prove.
And I surely am not comfortable with the backup situation
May 16th, 2025 at 7:22 pm
Buccaneer Bonzai Says:
“Since coming to the Buxs, Mayfield has proven himself.
You can make your claims, but you ignore the state of the rest of the team as you do so. You seem to pretend it was all on Baker when it wasn’t.”
Baker has proven that he can survive in the worst division in football and skate by into the postseason. Only to lose by his own hands in both playoff losses. The lone win was against an already defeated team. That shouldn’t be good enough for Buc fans.
If you think I don’t recognize the state of the rest of the team you don’t comprehend the written word very well. My posts are mostly about the Swiss Cheese pass defense that Bowles continues to roll out season after season.
I’ll give Baker this. Had the defense shown up to play vs the Redskins and given him more chances to score, he might have been able to win that game. But Bowles went conservative and played not to lose, instead of playing to win.
However, Baker is responsible for the fumble that was a pivotal play in that game. Chalk up another playoff loss for the Sooner.
Had Bowles not decided to let the beaten defense lose the game, perhaps Baker could have made a game winning play.
We’ll never know thanks to Bowles, and Baker.
May 16th, 2025 at 7:26 pm
Purdy finally got paid… I believe a portion of this contract is a retroactive payment for playing through his initial 4 year $3.4M contract.
Dude got rewarded for being a team first guy…
If Baker can take us to the promise land perhaps he will get the same size bag as Purdy got.
Fumbling the game away against the Redskins didn’t help.
Let’s hope Baker can step it up this season.
May 16th, 2025 at 7:35 pm
That’s why a family of 4 can no longer afford to go to games.
May 16th, 2025 at 7:36 pm
The 49rs are my “home” team. I’ve watched them almost as much as the Bucs. I would NOT trade Baker for Purdy. These two dopes in front of me don’t realize the class act Baker is by taking the blame for that fumble rather than let the rookie take the full blame.
May 16th, 2025 at 7:39 pm
Purdy demonstrates how crap shooty the draft is.
May 16th, 2025 at 7:46 pm
@ Oregon
Don’t get me wrong. I still believe Baker is a solid NFL QB.
However – if he doesn’t fumble the game away against the Redskins then we had a legit chance at the Super Bowl…
Everyone will remember that specific play over all others.
That;s not my fault pal.
May 16th, 2025 at 7:51 pm
Weaksecondary, I’d say make your mother read Bakers stats to you while she’s feeding you your Thorazine and pablum ala mode in her basement. He threw for 4500 yards and 41 TDs. The 16 Ints was a bit high, but not crazy. He buys time scrambling around and really throws a dart. Far lesser QBs demand far more cap room and get it. I don’t think he’s ever had the luxury of having the same offensive coordinator two years in a row. He is better than Brock Purdy and Trevor Lawrence…and they’ll make $20 million more than him. He’s not Tom Brady, but he is very, very good. Last year’s playoff loss wasn’t on him either. He tied the game up but our defense couldn’t stop a tumbleweed on a breeze less day. We improve that we might just sniff a Championship game as long as you don’t stink the place up with you leaky Depends
May 16th, 2025 at 7:57 pm
How can you spot a worthless troll? When their comments have the intellectual heft of PeeWee Herman!
“What the hell has Faker done?”
Faker? I guess I need to respond in Pee Wee fashion. I know you are but what is he? The intellectual heft and maturity indicates that some here actually have NO pride in their posts.
Meanwhile the owner of this here blog gets it EXACTLY right!
“Joe doesn’t put it past Mayfield to be the very rare quarterback to offer a hometown discount, but that can’t be counted on.”
Bingo! That is a BALANCED opinion/observation. As pointed out Brady did it frequently with N.E., he was more concerned with Super Bowls than money he didn’t really need. But Joe is right it’s rare. Greed rules in ‘Murica.
And so no it can’t be COUNTED ON. But IMHO….only an OPINION…Baker gets it. If anyone would offer hometown discounts it will be Baker, especially if Jason can pull it off in a “respectful” manner.
Baker is already set for life now that’s he finally got his greedy family under control. So 40 million actually represents 4 million a year in returns annually.
It’s money that investment guru’s can invest and make Baker even more fabulously wealthy than he already is. He can have his cake and eat it too.
Provide the discount for a better team around him and still earn a TON of money from INVESTMENTS!!!
Again see Tom Brady role model for all “smart” QB’s.
Throughout his entire NFL career across 23 seasons, Tom Brady earned an estimated $530 million. For only playing, he got around $333 million and another $200 million from all his sponsorship deals. Most recent source I could find…2025.
IE – IF Baker got a team around him that could win a SB how much value would a swashbuckling, wreckless, EXCITING QB earn off the field? We’ve already seen how much he capitalized a Heisman and #1 draft pick. He’s been to this rodeo before!!!
May 16th, 2025 at 8:00 pm
Brock Purdy couldn’t carry Baker Mayfield’s jock strap on his best day.
May 16th, 2025 at 8:01 pm
Fred gets it.
Hopefully that 20 million is for a trade if we happen to lose a key cog to injury this season. Or it’s going to Mike for next year. Please don’t let this will they won’t they with Evans happen again. Not good for my health.
May 16th, 2025 at 8:04 pm
Can you imagine Purdy or Goff stiff arming Bosa? Running over Wagner? Juking a LB outta their shoes shortly before strolling in a TD?
I certainly can’t.
May 16th, 2025 at 8:06 pm
Put da Lime in da Coconut
May 16th, 2025 at 8:16 pm
Baker Mayfield or Brock Puridy is worth that kind of money. Baker Mayfield has never played in a conference championship net alone a Superbowl. NFC Championship or bust
May 16th, 2025 at 8:18 pm
BTW Just checked. A 7% return, easily obtainable even using secure conservative investments DOUBLES your money in ten years.
Again we’re only talking ONE year’s contract, 40 million. This means that at age 40 Bakers salary from next year is worth 80 million!
May 16th, 2025 at 8:18 pm
Salaries of pro athletes are absurd. Any of the brilliant scribes who post here would be thrilled with winning a Florida lottery with a one time payment of $50Mill. That is enough money to take care of your children’s children, children. To earn that amount for 5 consecutive years or more is unfathomable. When Baker signed his last contract, he called it “life changing money.” We won’t have to have a benefit for Baker but he will be soon be getting a new contract from Tampa reflecting his relative value in the QB pool. Baker is a significantly better QB than Brock Purdy and others. He will soon be paid that way.
May 16th, 2025 at 8:34 pm
Some sage posts: Marinebuc: Part of purdys pat on that contract was retroactive pay for getting them to two NFC championship games and a Super Bowl. When I look at the high dollar value and short term I think you are spot on. Bravo Sir!
Buccaneer bonsai said no quarterback is worth $50 million. Depends on how you look at it. But there’s only so much cap. Do you want to be rich beyond any sane person’s dreams or do you want to be very rich, but have enough hardware to sink an aircraft carrier? Brady demanded a very nice salary, but he values rings over stupendous wealth. He is making $35 million a year as a broadcaster and I can’t imagine what he makes in ad revenue.
Filthy Animal, you were a smidgen harsh, but I agree whole heartedly. Trey Hendrickson has been great, but he’s getting older and we can always trade for him later if the need arises. I don’t like how he handles his business in public either.
May 16th, 2025 at 8:49 pm
Septe. You are a true Baker Mayfield fan lol 🤣🤣 !! You act like Baker Mayfield is a Superbowl winning quarterback. Lol 😂😂 so if we don’t make it to the NFC Championship game who will be at fault oh let me guess the defense Todd Bowles, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Bucky Irvin and LVD lol 🤣🤣!! Brock Puridy showed with a good team he get there Baker Mayfield haven’t prove that yet. Even in Cleveland he had a good o line, good defense with 2 good runningbacks and a good TE with a real good defense and he still couldn’t get to the AFC championship. You got to know this guy personally !!
May 16th, 2025 at 8:52 pm
All you Cleveland fans go back to your team you have a good young quarterback in Shadure Sanders get over the Baker Mayfield hype because that’s all what he’s been in Tampa. He’s been Alex Smith since he’s been here so far. Good enough to make the pro bowl and playoffs but not good enough to get a super bowl or a conference championship!!
May 16th, 2025 at 9:16 pm
Baker Mayfield is 30 years old now how much time are guys going to give him at this point of time?? I guess the nest thing y’all going to say he’s only 32 or 34 years old that’s not old for a quarterback? Lol 🤣🤣
May 16th, 2025 at 9:31 pm
Are you guys talking about the team that only won six games last year and their quarterback?
May 16th, 2025 at 9:32 pm
Oneilbuc’s past analysis of QB’s is all you need to know:
Oneilbucs Says:
April 28th, 2020 at 9:08 pm
Jamies went to a organization waaaaay better than ours and if he gets a chance to start he will be killing us for years to come .
Oneilbucs Says:
March 17th, 2020 at 11:10 pm
Brady had a QBR of 54 in 2019 good Job Tampa bay this is why we will be at the bottom again this year .
or how about this one on Bucky Irving:
Oneilbuc Says:
April 27th, 2024 at 3:48 pm
This was a bad pick he’s short and slow!! Licht just don’t know how to pick runningbacks.
or how about his analysis of Bruce Arians:
Oneilbucs Says:
April 25th, 2020 at 2:33 pm
Bruce Arians was the wrong coach . He came not to develop any players and when this is over rather we win or lose we will be the Cardinals . I hope we win but Bruce Arians got to go .
May 16th, 2025 at 9:36 pm
this is quite the over pay…
dude shocked everyone with his play, but as he settles into the league, his play has kinda leveled off, or even gone slightly down…
love john lynch and all, but i think he made a mistake here…
9ers can only go so far with crock turdy…
that salary is freakin’ turdiculous
May 16th, 2025 at 9:39 pm
Grab Trey Hendrickson and go for gold
May 16th, 2025 at 9:43 pm
Purdy got a purdy big contract for a last-round draft pick. Look at the size of his paycheck and the name Sam Bradford comes to mind.
May 16th, 2025 at 9:49 pm
@oneilbuc
So who’s your pick for QB?
Who should we get to replace a QB who threw for 70+% completion rate, 4500 yards etc etc?
A QB who’s scrambling and hero ball saved the team repeatedly and got us to the playoffs to begin with.
Like I remind the fire Todd crowd…. Tuff titty, Baker IS our QB now and for the foreseeable future. Todd is our HC and DC for now and the foreseeable future. Don’t like it? Oh well, I hate it for you. Truly must suck to call yourself a fan while hoping the QB or HC fail so you can be “right”. 😭
May 16th, 2025 at 9:54 pm
I like comparing their stats for the last 2 years. Similar rushing stats. Baker 540 yards 4 TD Brock 460 7 TDs. Baker has thrown a bit more TDs 69 vs 51 in 3 more games. Purdy more YPG and YPA. Similar QBR. Baker should make at least that or more on the next contract.
May 16th, 2025 at 10:08 pm
You trollls like my grandson say what you want but Bakers Bucs contract is the best deal in NFL by far
May 16th, 2025 at 10:12 pm
Only 10 NFL quarterbacks have recorded at least 4,500 passing yards and 40 passing touchdowns in a single season. The list includes Dan Marino, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Matthew Stafford, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Andrew Luck, Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, and Baker Mayfield.
May 16th, 2025 at 10:16 pm
Bayou. Remember it’s a 17 game season now but what about the playoffs? That’s what makes a franchise quarterback at some point he has to put the offense on his back when needed like that lions and Washington game!! He’s 30 years old not 25 . NFC Championship or bust no more excuses!!
May 16th, 2025 at 10:28 pm
Does anybody agree with me that these salaries for athletes have gotten way out of hand and are totally ridiculous?
Pretty soon they will be making as much as Joe.
But seriously though, geez.
May 16th, 2025 at 10:30 pm
Thanks BayouBullet, so 3 QBs in the NFL today have reached those lofty figures. Purdy managed to toss 21 TD passes last year-superstar numbers for sure. I didn’t follow Baker over from Cleveland, I’ve been following him since he enrolled at OU and had to play on the practice squad for an entire year per NCAA rules at the time. I’ve watched the best QBs in football for over 50 years and he’s on a team now where he has the chance to show what he’s capable of. Those capabilities include multiple Super Bowl wins and first ballot hall of famer.
May 16th, 2025 at 10:40 pm
Baker is underpaid or Lynch badly overpaid for Purdy? The 49ers window is closing and a $50M+ QB cramps the ability to build a great team.
May 16th, 2025 at 10:41 pm
WeakSecondary, you’re dumb.
Baker is a way better QB than Purdy in every way.
Stronger arm, more accurate, more passionate, better leader, more moxy, better and stronger runner…
There’s literally no aspect of the game that Purdy is better than Mayfield.
By the time Baker is due another contract, the salary cap will be so high that we’ll be able to pay him at least $50Mil/season and still have room for everyone else’s salaries.
May 16th, 2025 at 10:42 pm
@Kenton Smith
Baker is the next Drew Brees and we are truly blessed to have him. He will be the greatest Buccaneers QB of all time and I’d bet the ranch on that. Go bucs
May 16th, 2025 at 10:56 pm
Peyton Manning won his first Super Bowl at 34. Drew Brees won his first Super Bowl at age 33. Manning threw 28 interceptions his rookie year. Mayfield set NFL rookie record TD passes in 13 games. Hmm. One ill Buc. His 2-3 career playoff record skews the fact that he played beautifully in all 5 of them. He’s gonna have bunches more playoff games in his career. He hasn’t even begun to make his mark yet in the NFL- when he’s done some of you smartsss doubters will still not like him. But I will. Always have, always will.
May 16th, 2025 at 11:27 pm
Baker Mayfield holds the ball for to long if he can get that ball out faster he’d be alot better
May 16th, 2025 at 11:28 pm
Worry less. Drink more. Trust Jason.
May 16th, 2025 at 11:48 pm
Anybody saying Baker had a good defense and weapons in Cleveland can be easily disregarded. The Browns defense was ranked 21st in 2020 and was the worst defense on 4th down in the league since 1989. No lead was safe and Joe Woods is an awful D coordinator.
David Njoku was and is an inconsistent TE who still has problems with drops. His only good WR with a name was Jarvis Landry, who is a solid #2 but not a #1 and he fell off the last two years in Cleveland and has been out of the league. Every other WR Baker had in Cleveland is out of the league. Including that overrated bum OBJ who did nothing here except drop passes or hurt himself.
And the Browns were an AWFUL missed call on a helmet to helmet from beating the Chefs and going to the AFC championship.

This damn site and its buggy moments that make phone browsers easy thumb-landmines, discarding thoughtful comments by triggering ads (only while typing in the comments section). The site is antiquated, buggy, and provides a 2 (out of 5) on the UX spectrum. That’s an honest—and industry-standard—assessment, being in the software industry myself and interacting with dozens of organic, consumer-engagement sites, as part of my profession. You can do better.
Where the above paragraph differs from the drivel of 95% of the commenters here is that I don’t sling empty cans of Busch Light at the TV when someone makes a physical mistake, or if a coach clearly identifies last year (before the season) that the team isn’t as deep at certain positions as in previous years…and then we see it play out exactly the way he said!
Too many negative people here—it ruins the experience and culture. I know JoeBucsFan.com was started in an attempt to be the arena of normal Bucs fans, to have discourse and talk about all things Bucs that are (at least) interesting to the Joes. But I think I mostly read comments from people who expect superhuman results from humans, when they probably perform at about a C- level at their own place of employment.
Trust me when I say you are making the discourse more like a Finebaum-regular/Real-Housewives episode than anyone I’d give two s(p)its listening to at any bar I’d frequent.
May 17th, 2025 at 12:00 am
Please Baker, spend some time with Drew Brees. The off season that Josh Freeman spent time with Brees led to his best season ever. Fix the one issue you have, deep ball accuracy. By the way, have money on Baker as MVP as well as Bucs for the NFC Championship and the Super Bowl.
Go Bake!!! Go Bucs!!!

“Baker is a way better QB than Purdy in every way.

And yet Purdy has been to back to back NFC title games and a Superbowl at 25 years of age and three seasons in the NFL.
Not to mention Purdy is 2-0 vs Mayfield.
But yeah, Faker is just so wonderful.
Last pick in the draft has already attained more than the first overall pick will ever see.
Faker will be out of football in five years. Purdy will likely have a SB title or two by then.

You are a low life piece of trash. My mother has been gone for four years and I’d give my life savings for one more day with her.

GoneGator Says:
“Baker IS our QB now and for the foreseeable future. Todd is our HC and DC for now and the foreseeable future.”
Guess you don’t need another SB appearance then.
One, it will never happen with a HC like Bowles that has been given the keys to a Cadillac in Boca and turned it into busted Pinto in the ghetto.
Two, you simply cannot think that a QB who is 1-2 in the playoffs as a Buc will ever amount to anything more than what he currently is. He was at fault for both losses by his mistakes. And he is not close to elite.
If we had a HC with a brain cell and balls Baker might have a chance.
But we do not have that at the current moment.

Weakthinker says what has Mayfield done? Oh i dont know, he only has the best performance in playoff games. Out of all the great qb’s throughout nfl history Baker has the BEST performances. He has averaged a 105.9 passer rating while all the greats have averaged 92.5. I would have to say he has DONE MORE THAN ANY OTHER QUARTERBACK. But I know, you are going to be a hater and say a quarterback that has played better than all the others hasn’t really played better than all the others because you don’t want him to. Well I have news for you weakstinker, Baker HAS played better than the rest because the NFL has decided that the passer rating is the best way to judge a quarterbacks play and when you have the highest passer rating you have played the best. And Baker has done just that. This year he had a 146 in the playoffs. The highest BY FAR. So you see the fact that we lose isn’t his fault at all. In fact, this whole season he was tied for second in passer rating with a 108.1. So you can “claim” it’s his fault all you like but you have zero evidence to back up your ridiculous claim. As the head coach said “Baker IS THE REASON WE ARE IN THE PLAYOFFS”. You have a short memory, last year we were supposed to win 4 whole games. Because Baker is that good he will get a huge contract and your opinion does not matter one bit because all the people that actually know football says he deserves it and you don’t fall in that category, obviously.
May 17th, 2025 at 1:26 am
Ok now we know what is wrong with weakthinker, it’s a college thing. Baker dogged his beloved Longhorns or his Buckeyes. Pay him no mind, he will NEVER get over the beaten Baker gave his blessed alma mater. Hilarious!!!Lmao
May 17th, 2025 at 1:46 am
Onei, just so you know Cleveland is where quarterbacks go to die. Baker has done better than anyone, especially Jamies. Jamie’s won what, 4 games this year, pitiful. Baker took them from a record of 2-41 to 11-5. Can’t get better than that and only Baker could have done it. Actually, he is the only one that has turned around a team THAT BAD.
May 17th, 2025 at 1:57 am
Weakthinker, the more I think about it the more I realize just how ignorant you are about the game of football. You are still beating that dead horse. Anyone that’s anyone has stated it was McMillan that caused the fumble, including nfl coaches. The jet sweep is designed to happen very fast. There is NO TIME to make adjustments. You either do it right or it doesn’t work. You can’t be 1.5 yards too deep at the moment of hand-off. And McMillan was just that, much too deep. If you actually cared you could take advantage of the miracle of YouTube and watch hundreds of jet sweeps being ran right and compare them to ours against Washington but you are either too d*** lazy or just don’t want the truth. Whichever it is you don’t have a clue of what you say.
May 17th, 2025 at 2:15 am
You Baker fan boys just don’t get enough do you? Lol 😂😂 Alex Smith did everything Baker has done in his career so far. Again in Cleveland he had a good team and you Browns fans know it . NFC Championship or bust no more excuses. I don’t care about the regular season because we in a trash division show me in the playoffs. He only won 2 playoff games because he’s the one who chokes every time. Lol 🤣🤣 NFC Championship or bust Brock Puridy showed he can get to a conference championship and a Superbowl with a good offense Baker Mayfield haven’t proven that yet!!!

This is the whole problem with you 3 crybabies onei. You say Alex Smith has done everything Baker has done knowing full well thats not true at all. Alex didn’t have a career of playing better than all the other quarterbacks in the league during the playoffs now did he? Alex Smith has a playoff rating of 97.4 compared to Bakers 105.9. That’s 8.5 points less than Bakers. Whenever we put together a team that is good enough to go to a superbowl we will go to a superbowl. We sure aren’t waiting to get a quarterback that can play good enough to go because we have that already 😉

Geno711’s post above is hilarious!
I like that Oneilbuc disparages Baker. It means Baker will be a super bowl winner one day… maybe this season! Thanks Oneilbuc for saying things that we know the opposite will happen! Baker will thank you too one day. You seem to have some kind of magical power of spewing out an idiot opinion and the opposite happens not much later. Can you please say things like the Bucs defense will be terrible this season… and a little something about the Bucs have no chance of staying healthy all year?
LOL
Ever come back here and eat crow for your backward a$$ opinions? Probably not. LOL

It’s ALWAYS been crazy money that NFL players get paid but these days it is truly life changing, especially if you turn it over to a financial planner .
The G’Boys only paid something like 180 million for the franchise seemingly not that long ago. I’d love to hear the conversations with the boys and their father talking dad into the business deal .

Purdy is worth every bit of that money.
He’s only 25 and has already led his team to two NFC title games in back to back years and a Superbowl”
So how many CHAMPIONSHIPS is that? I’ll help. ZERO.
Purdy has dinked and dunked his way to 50 million a year on the back of a defense, and good for him.
I would wager 90% of NFL GMs would take Baker over Purdy.
The Niners gutting their roster to pay Purdy won’t age well for the franchise.

Geno
As usual very well done. We’re going to have to give you a nickname.
“Trollkiller”.

Davy. How many playoffs wins does Baker Mayfield has ? I can care less about stats. If we don’t get to the NFC Championship game this year it’s time for the bucs to draft a quarterback in the first round. And once they do that you Cleveland browns fans can go back to your team. It’s NFC Championship or bust no more excuses for a 30 year old quarterback!!
May 17th, 2025 at 11:20 am
KA. I hope you are right but Baker Mayfield has to prove he can get us to the NFC Championship game. I’m not going to say super bowl right now because he’s never played in a conference championship game. Get to the NFC Championship then we can talk Superbowl next year. The problem with you fans now days y’all act like you have a personal relationship with these players. I don’t care about none of them personally I judge what they do on the field. Baker Mayfield lead the league in picks and turnovers last year and not mention ranked second in passes thrown under 10 yards and people talking about Brock Purdy dinking and dunking. I don’t care what Baker Mayfield stats is get us to the NFC Championship game.

If you think NFL players are overpaid you are either uninformed or just plain jealous. NFL players are trading years off their lives for that money. In a study comparing MLB and NFL players life expectancies-NFL players came in at 59.6 compared to the actual average of 76.2 for the everyday Joe.
I have friends that have played running back in the NFL and the most apt description was imagine getting in 5 car wrecks every Sunday for years. The game takes a huge toll and I believe the market determines the salary they earn, but if after reading this you still believe NFL players are overpaid , then you have a problem that a well qualified psychiatry pro MAY be able to help with.
May 17th, 2025 at 1:26 pm
Wow. Lots of cripple fights going on above. Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Andre Lick, Joe Montana would all have trouble winning 9 games with this declining defense the last theee seasons. Swiss cheese and lack of inspired game prep explains most everything.
May 17th, 2025 at 2:22 pm
Onei, I could say something about your belief system but I won’t. But I will say this, I have seen you use stats as much as anyone but when they don’t agree with your yappin, you don’t believe in them. Just like when it comes to the playoffs and how Baker has played better than any other quarterback in history, 105.9, you don’t like it. If the truth was known when I put up the 105.9 I can imagine it sends you into orbit. It is what it is onei. When money is on the line, the stats that the NFL pays attention to, says Baker is MONEY. Now he can’t take the whole team and play defense for them but he can do what the NFL wants him to do and that’s score a high passer rating and buddy 105.9 is as high as anyone ever has gotten, EVER. Google “who has the highest passer rating in the playoffs” and then you will see the reality of your position and who is money in the playoffs. Not to mention Baker has quarterbacked the 3rd best offense all year. All we have to do is stop making mistakes and stay healthy and we will go to the superbowl, it’s that easy. When we are “ON” we beat the Eagles
Detroit and should have beaten the Chiefs. Do you recognize those 3? 2 went to the superbowl and Detriot lost 2 whole games. WE ARE THAT GOOD!!! So in 2025 we will see if we can:
1-Stop making mistakes in key moments and
2-Stay healthy
If we can do the above 2, we will ride Bakers 105.9 all the way to the big game in February!!!
Hey onei, don’t forget to Google “who has the highest career playoff passer rating ever”. You can do it!! Let us know who it is!!!
May 17th, 2025 at 2:33 pm
Kit,
Wow………You got it right about Baker in Cleveland and the missed spearing call at the goal line that somehow became a fumble and a touchback for the Chiefs. Browns should have won that game and been on their way to the SB. You neglected to tell the tail of the 2021 season where Baker played hurt with a torn labrum in his left shoulder that occurred in the second game of 2021. Baker toughed it out for the entire year only to have the lunkheads in Cleveland dump him for the masseuse molester Watson. It is poetic that Baker is today a ProBowl playoff caliber QB in Tampa and Cleveland is…..well, looking for a QB.
May 17th, 2025 at 2:55 pm
It’s funny, Wikipedia has a long list of quarterbacks with at least 150 career postseason attempts and there are names from way back Bart Starr, Kurt Warner, Joe Montana, Tom Brady, Aaron Rogers, Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Terry Bradshaw, Drew Brees, Len Dawson, John Elway, Peyton and Eli. Anyway, there are 50 and old Baker sits… atop them all!!! But he’s a choker say the haters. Well I hate to tell you, but the NFL says he is the opossite of a choker, he is money when it matters most. Learn your lesson boys, whatever the haters say you can turn 180 degrees and you’ll then know what Baker really is. Choker… 😂 😂
May 17th, 2025 at 2:56 pm
If Baker has a similar performance this year and we make it to a minimum the NFC championship game, he will probably be able to get 50m a year. But I’m hopeful that he sees the potential of what he can get if he takes a hometown discount assuming it is fully guaranteed like Deshaun Watson. Otherwise, guys will go for the biggest bag because they don’t know when it will end.
May 17th, 2025 at 4:13 pm
Lest we forget Mayfield also played the 2021 season with a fractured collar bone along with his completely torn labrum. One tough son of a gun. That’s what happens when you give your heart and soul to Cleveland
May 17th, 2025 at 4:19 pm
My prediction is that at the end of this coming season, the Baker haters will just have to shut up and sit down. And he’ll get way more money when it’s time to renew.
Go Bucs
May 17th, 2025 at 4:33 pm
All you emotional Baker Mayfield fan boys are a joke lol 🤣🤣!! Don’t know body hate Baker Mayfield or hope he fails. Baker Mayfield ain’t never played in a conference championship because when the games is on the line and it’s a do or die for both teams he always comes up short. He did against the lions and Washington playoff games. When will y’all stop blaming everyone else when games are on the line and the ball is in his hands to win it or lose in playoffs games and he either throws a pick or change the momentum of the game like he did against the lions and Washington. Those are on him elite quarterbacks don’t do that every time in playoffs.

Hey onei, denialism-when an individual chooses to ignore reality to escape an uncomfortable truth.lol lol
May 17th, 2025 at 7:37 pm
No one will read this because I’m the 79th comment, but your state already offers a hometown discount called no state income tax, having repealed it in 1858 (not a typo)
5% to 10% of $50 million is (punches numbers into calculator) a lot of money

Oneilbuc,
Most are content to let you ramble on in a sea of non sequiturs. So just keep doing what you do. Hopefully, somebody will come along and tell us what you mean and what you would do differently with the Bucs.

Onei, u b hoplesslol. live the dream buddy. Live the dream 🫡
May 18th, 2025 at 4:31 am
What it is. Everything I just said was the truth how many conferences games we played in with Baker Mayfield? How many conferences championship games Cleveland played in with Baker Mayfield? My point exactly the truth hurts your feelings don’t it ?
May 18th, 2025 at 4:37 am
Gipper. You not even a bucs fan you a Cleveland browns fan lol you must be mad about Shadure Sanders being your quarterback . Lol 😂😂 I guess when he starts winning with Cleveland you will be back with your team. I wish I knew the web site Cleveland browns fan base were on because I would tell them to please come and get your people from my team. Lol 🤣🤣 I’m sure you’re a eagles fan as well because Hurts played at Oklahoma!! Fake fans don’t care nothing about the team they only care about one player. Go back to Cleveland and take the Baker fan boys with you!!
May 18th, 2025 at 11:22 am
You really don’t get it onei. When the GOAT retires due to seeing how bad his team will be, you can’t say, oh well how many conference championships has our new qb played in. You can’t unless of course you are delusional….
May 18th, 2025 at 11:27 am
It takes a few years to overcome the 4 win team onei. And when you are hurt like last year, you sure can’t expect what you are acting like what you expect. Get some perspective, it would help you tremendously.
May 18th, 2025 at 12:43 pm
weaksecondary is a complete asswipe. we know you hate baker. where are your comments on lamar, allen, prescott, murray, love, herbet, goff, tua and others. never been to super bowl. all but allen have losing playoff records. all these qb making 40 plus mil.per year. go to walmart and but a brain before the tariffs hit. MORON
May 18th, 2025 at 8:40 pm
NLK. I know it’s always the hate word now I don’t know Baker Mayfield to love him or to hate him. The problem with fans today is some of y’all act like you know these guys personally. I can care less about Baker Mayfield or any other player in the NFL. I judge players by the play on the field and Baker Mayfield is Alex Smith to according to what he’s done the past 2 years.
May 19th, 2025 at 6:54 am
that’s ok oneillbuc. just don’t understand how people knock one athlete and not another. the qb’s i mentioned are never put under a microscope. they have had much better org. stability yet NONE have won a super bowl and only goff has been to one. in order to get to and win a super bowl, you org. stability, a really good head coach and a well balanced roster. let the stat gurus look at post season numbers amongst those qbs and see who steps up their game the most.
