Bucs Range For WR Tetairoa McMillan

April 22nd, 2025

“You’re reading that correctly, Mr. Glazer.”

Now this got Joe to put down the imported pomegranate juice.

NFL insider Peter Schrager, who recently bolted to BSPN from NFL Network, is a true Bucs insider. He’s an ol’ pal of the big guns in the Buccaneers front office, GM Jason Licht and his assistant, contract doctor Mike Greenberg. In fact, years ago Schrager spent days at a time crashing at Greenberg’s home in Tampa.

So yeah, Joe pays attention when Schrager talks Bucs.

Today on The Pat McAfee Show on ESPN TV, Schrager talked about beastly University of Arizona receiver Tetairoa McMillan, who gives off Calvin Johnson/Mike Evans vibes when he’s playing his best.

A consensus first-round pick, Schrager identified a wide range for McMillan in Thursday’s first round because of questions about McMillan’s work ethic and hunger for football (he likes volleyball, too, apparently).

Schrager’s draft range? That was pick No. 5 through pick No. 19.

Hey, the Bucs pick at No. 19. So why did Schrager close McMillan’s draft window at No. 19?

Very interesting. Joe doesn’t think that’s a coincidence. It smells to Joe that someone at One Buc Palace told Schrager the team would pounce on McMillan but doesn’t believe he’ll be there at No. 19.

As Joe maintained on today’s Ira Kaufman Podcast, eventually replacing Mike Evans likely will be a greater challenge than replacing Lavonte David. So drafting a big-dog receiver like McMillan is in the realm of reasonable if the Bucs think he’s a future star.

Not if he doesn’t love the game. Guys fade out and lose interest when they truly don’t love the game.

No way ! Bucs Super Bowl window is now. They can find WR help in the 3rd. It’s Emmawori in the first and corner in the second .. then they’re set for the 25 season

  3. geno711 Says:

Solid Player and if WR was one of our most important positions then he would be a solid value at 19.

I think he is actually a little bit behind the receivers taken last year in the 1st round.

He certainly does not give off Mike Evans vibes. His arm length is below average and his wing span is slightly above average.

Mike Evans is a freak with go go gadget wingspan.

Comparing Tetairoa McMillan to Drake London is fine. Comparing him to ME is just stupid.

  4. D-Rok Says:

It’s a stretch to comp McMillan to Megatron unless he’s a robot. ME vibes? Not seeing it.
Would he be good? *SHRUGS SHOULDERS* I dunno, prolly, but I’d rather have a WR sleep with a fuzzy football instead of dreaming about volleyball.

  5. Leopold Stotch Says:

Idk, there’s a handful of guys that seem like “Buccaneer Men”, but I also see a lot more who don’t fit the culture of the team. This just seems like a ho-hum draft, honestly. Very top heavy, no WOW prospects. Well see.

  6. geno711 Says:

Tetairoa McMillan arm length 31 1/2″
Mike Evans arm length 35 1/8″.

  7. FilthyAnimal Says:

I am not sold on McMillan. I still think we’re going defense.

This team needs help on D. But, there is one offensive player in this draft that if the Buc somehow managed to get their hands on would shift the balance of power in the NFL in the Bucs favor for years to come. This kid can only be described in offensive line lingo as “real nasty”! He plays with a huge chip that reminds me of a young Mike Ditka when I was a kid growing up in old PGH. The kid is big fast can run past you or over you or through you and he eats up contact. I watched a couple of his games and picked up on his extra curricular activities between plays and had laugh and chuckle as he elbows and pushes around DE s and line backers and just can’t resist an opportunity to squash defensive backs. Have you guessed who he is yet?
Yes TYLER WARREN out of Penn State. This kid is a young Gronk and Bavaro and Kelce all rolled into one. In short he is a fast human tank with an attitude and I can see him hooking up with Baker and the gang and suddenly the Bucs will have the most dangerous and unstoppable offense since the greatest show on turf.

Are you listening to me Jason,Todd,Grizz,BAKER? Yuo can spend the rest of the pics on D but this move would Trump the whole league and solidify the Buc futre championships. Starting this year. Just do it!

I’d rather get one of the TEs from Michigan or Penn St. The system we run has proven productive without Evans AND Godwin, don’t think we need to put such a high pick in for a player that would ultimately be a back up. You look back at Brady’s career and when he had Gronk, he had the ultimate chess piece for the offense. Get baker a stud TE and the offense will control the game especially with our running game.

Standing at 6’5″ and weighing 212 pounds, McMillan is a physical marvel with exceptional ball skills. In the 2024 season, he recorded 1,319 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns, earning first-team All-American honors. His standout performance included a school-record 304-yard, four-touchdown game against New Mexico.

As user geno711 pointed out, McMillan is missing about 8 inches of wingspan. However, it’s worth noting that while Mike Evans has 9 5/8-inch hands, McMillan’s hands measure a full 10 inches. That added size could translate to increased grip strength, potentially offsetting his wingspan deficit.

McMillan is known for winning contested catches, his reliable hands, and his ability to make plays after the catch. He’s widely projected as a top-10 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, with some analysts even ranking him as the top wide receiver prospect.

I’m not saying he’s the next Mike Evans—there may never be another—but he’s very close. So close, in fact, that he’s being underrated heading into the league, much like Evans has throughout his career.

My biggest concern is that he may not live and breathe football as some other posters pointed out. Honestly, I had him as my WR1 with no close second—until that detail came to light.

That said, if he’s still available at pick 19, you could command a king’s ransom from teams like the Chargers, Packers, or especially the Chiefs I bet…

    ^^^^^^^

FOR REAL!!! I stood next to Calvin a couple months ago. Dude could start in the NFL tomorrow. His hand was the length as my elbow to my knuckles. I’m 6’. Truthfully you don’t say Evans and Calvin in the same sentence … that’s like comparing Shaq and any center. CJ is a freak of nature. Two different players. Both great.

TMac and Evans. Meh? People forget how great Evans was in college. We won Johnny a Heisman.

  12. Ryan Hayes Says:

The Bucs prolly put out the report that he doesn’t love football to get him to slide this is the time of lies Everyone says Bucs want to trade down when Jason said he never even made a call about trading down yet this kid would be great for the Bucs

  13. Ancient Says:

This T Mac thing is no where close to the player ME 13 is, even coming out of college. Never mind the MAN ME13 is, and this lazy flake couldn’t even fetch water for the great ME13. Much slower, lazy lack of student of the game, plodding, unathletic versus ME13.

Just….shhh. On mentioning this thing, in same breath as MS13. Misguided, uninformed, mis characterized.

    Flawed. Stop.

  14. PSL Bob Says:

Kysbucs – YES! We’re in it to win it this year. Don’t know what next year may bring. The same logic applies for why we shouldn’t take ILB Campbell with Pick 19. We have to get players that can both start and contribute on Day 1 in 2025. Hopefully, those same players should help us build for the future.

  15. Esteban85 Says:

Not sold on this feller, neither is the car salesman. I want a first round WR who is a franchise WR like last years draft. Not seeing it with these cats

  16. MadMax Says:

    Jayden Higgins, 2nd rd.

  17. geno711 Says:

I was more a Brian Thomas guy last year than McMillan this year. I’ll stick with my eyeballs. McMillan is fine but not a probowl guy IMO.

  18. garro Says:

Would our man Jason Possibly…maybe…trade up for McMillan? That would require some crazy future draft picks. But Hey this guy can be Mikes pupil for a couple of years and Wow!

BTW how could a guy with that kind of talent be unmotivated to play in the NFL?
That baffles me! Volleyball!?! That is seriously stupid if true.

    Go Bucs!

  19. Aqualung Says:

Josh Failman didn’t love football. Look what happened to him.
