No Europe Game For The Bucs

May 15th, 2024

Great news!

As the official NFL schedule leaks/announcements continue, it’s become clear this morning that Tampa Bay will not be forced to travel out of the country this season to play the greatest sport in the United States.

Seven teams are headed to Europe to play (England and Germany) and only the Panthers in the NFC South are on the hook for the energy-sucking trip. They’ll face the Giants at Allianz Arena in Munich (not to be confused with Major League Soccer’s gorgeous Allianz Field in Minnesota). It seems Roger Goodell wants to torture the Germans with subpar quarterback play.

The Jaguars will play two games overseas, hence the uneven number of teams.

The Eagles and Packers play Week 1 in Brazil.

So the Bucs officially will have nine home games at The Licht House. That’s never happened in a regular season.

    Good, Go Bucs.

  2. Lt. Dan Says:

Funny Joe! You slipped Jon Gruden’s ring of honor name into the pic. I’m not against it – I just see what you did there. Well played.

    Love the photo!

  4. Permanently Moderated Says:

    Brazil? Really?

  5. BucVoyager Says:

I feel bad for the Jag fans. They should not be subjected to these games every single year. It’s almost as if the owner wants to move the team overseas should the opportunity present itself.

  6. A Bucs Fan Says:

Good. I don’t like international games. They should incorporate their own league and organizations in the EU like Canada did.

Great news! Although if we’re greedy it’s too bad that Carolina gets dumped on I’d rather it be Atlanta or New Orleans.

BTW a question for all…perhaps Joe will not be upset…how do JBF fans rank the
so called “rotten” NFC South Division.

If I was handicapping I’d go 1.)Bucs 2.)Falcons 3.) New Orleans (perhaps a sleeper) and 4.) Carolina…a true long shot.

  8. BA Red Pen Says:

Thanks Jesus!! No Euro games, just keep us off the schedule for Thanksgiving and the stupid Wednesday Christmas games and it will be great.

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Paying in California….doesn’t that count for out of the country?

  10. BA Red Pen Says:

The game passed him by in 2008. Old news.

As for myself, as I get older (64) and life gets shorter, I want to focus on the more important things in my life. Family, peace, health, etc. I love football and the Bucs have been my team since their inception in 1976, but with all of the streaming services needed to watch certain games and the amount of overseas games, I am starting to lose interest in the NFL.

  12. rriddler Says:

I’m a little disappointed. We couldn’t lose a home game this year, since we gave one up 2 years ago.

I enjoyed Munich so much in 2022, I went back last year on vacation.

I would have liked to see the Bucs in Europe again as a road team this year.

  13. KABucs Says:

The Panthers will probably suck, so no need to reserve the energy for anything special during the rest of the season.

  14. BigBucsFan Says:

Let’s go, more games for the home crowd. We have a bad thanksgiving day record so fine if they don’t play turkey day. But, I do hope for a red and pewter Christmas. Love being able to watch my team with family during Christmas celebration. But most importantly I’m looking forward to another good if not great and definitely improved season let’s go this team is catching fire, let’s fire those cannons!

  15. Boss Says:

can we get no creamsickle games?

  16. Patrickbucs Says:

That’s funny TBBF:) sad and try actually.

Nice click bait pic there. Not a lot of non-sell out games like that I can think of recently. Ive had season tix since 98. Morris years and GS years, yeah. Can show for that pic for a number of teams.

  17. View from 132 Says:

    Agree Boss. Ugly past.

  18. Crickett Baker Says:

It seemed to me like the team LOVED that Munich game. Why are so many on here against it?
Also, it seems that the Panthers have taken over our “underdog” role. They almost beat us last year without our coaches and players…

  19. rrsrq Says:

what is the Bucs third approved helmet?

  20. drdneast Says:

Tampabaybucfan, just like playing in Tennessee.

  21. heyjude Says:

This is great news for us this season!

Agree with BucVoyager, feel bad for the Jags. It doesn’t seem right, but that’s the NFL’s rule since the extension of the schedule in 2021. My understanding of the rule is that four or less teams are eligible for a ninth regular home game and will be selected to play a neutral international game each year.

  22. D-Rok Says:

Supposedly, Netflix will get 2 Christmas games this year. So if the Bucs play on Christmas, get your Netflix account ready to go and then promptly cancel after the game (if they allow it).

WAY too many “pay-site” games lately. Whatever happened to turning on the boob tube on Sunday, adjust the rabbit ears, and enjoy some free football?

  23. 1sparkybuc Says:

The thing that sucks is that every single game that we have played overseas has been a “home” game.
