Liam Coen Praises Bucs’ Work Ethic, Culture

May 6th, 2024

Praises Bucs players.

So Bucs coaches have finally been able to get players out on a practice field to start getting used to them and a new offense. And for the players to learn a new offense and new coaches.

Obviously, Joe knows the team is in the infancy stages of preparing for the 2024 season. But already offensive coordinator Liam Coen has an idea of what he can expect from the Bucs.

“These guys are workers,” Coen said. “You can tell there is a real culture in this building that was already set. That’s been set.

“All the message has been is, ‘How can we get better? How can we take the next step from good to great?'”

Coen said the answer to that, “first and foremost” is getting the run game going.

Coen lauded the Bucs for being fully bought-in and bringing “great energy” to the workouts.

“It’s been an absolute pleasure working with these guys so far,” Coen said.

I bet a mortgage payment Coen’s offense is leaps and bounds better than the Carolina Panther dude.

If the run game actually turns into something it’s going to be sweet after these past few years. Kudos to Coen for rocking Bucs’ gear for this presser instead of dressing like Captain Kangeroo.

  3. BucsFan Says:

Coen probably gets a deep discount on the Bucs gear…….

  4. HC Grover Says:

This is just brilliant. How did they fing such a genius coach?

  5. Beeej Says:

    I sense sarcasm Grover

  6. ModHairKen Says:

They will need two reliable RBs to have a running game. White is modest. Tucker could step up. If he doesn’t, he could be gone.

  7. A Bucs Fan Says:

    I second Buc U!

  8. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

    Wirfs, Barton, Hainsey, Mauch, goedeke.
    I like it.

What I really like about this guy is that he seems like a real coach. He has plenty of ideas and ways to get players to improve. Unlike our recent “rah-rah” OC, this guy seems like he knows how to gain results from veterans as well as the new guys. I am stoked.

I like the competition in the IOL, it sounds like we have some solid players to battle. We just need to sort it out relatively soon so the starting OL can work together before opening day.

At RB, we need Irving and Tucker to get their pass pro up to speed, then let’s see who has vision and can make people miss when running the ball. White will be the third down back, but we need a runner to step up.

  11. Thundersack Says:

Does anyone have an opinion about the Bucs signing Hunter Renfrow?

He is renowned for his work ethic and has proven to be a slick WR that could handily fill a role as a slot WR. Wouldn’t be too expensive either. Competition may bring out the best in him and the whole WR room.

  12. Hopein1hand… Says:

Renfrow seems like he could be a decent addition but he has 12 career fumbles so I’m not on board with picking him up. It is rumored he will reunite with Carr in New Orleans. He was almost invisible last season but I could see him bouncing back with Carr.

  13. BucfaninMi Says:

BucU I think it’s going to be also.

  14. Tony Says:

If we’re gonna bring another WR back MAYBE BRING BACK ANTONIO! Then he can come running out of the tunnel waving to the crowd in the middle of the game on his way back onto the roster.😁

Switch Hainsey and Barton and you’ve got a deal.

You know it’s kinda funny in that the harder you work, the luckier you get.

  17. Ex-Browns02 Says:

Despite overall general offensive strategy, it’s always going to be about leveraging strengths. I was disappointed last season with the lack of utilization of Tucker as a receiver. He’s definitely not in the category of “power runner”, but he’s got soft hands and he’s quick and slick in space when he possesses the ball.

I hope that Coen can leverage this guy rather than dumping him as a “pure” running back.

  18. 1#bucsfan Says:

If the Bucs offense does better than last year and we get a run game then coen will be a head coach just like canales lol it’ll be a bitter sweet taste

  19. Eckwood Says:

Bring back RoJo and his PED s

  20. chark Says:

In fairness, I thought canales did a damn good job and got thru a midseason slump. He seemed to always be on the same page with the qb and it seemed the players knew the plays well. He wasnt too predictable. Way better in every way than leftwich. I think we should be thankful that a “base” was established this year and coen only needs to tinker with things. Canales is now the whipping boy for some vindictive hurt fans. Hopefully Coen can fine tune what was left behind.

  21. Brandon Says:

Hilarious that a few challenged fans and Panther management was anything but completely over his head last season. Now that he’s a head coach, Panthers are going to be awful again. Anybody we brought in would probably be an upgrade. Coen very likely is.

  22. Booger Says:

Much different culture than the highly “undisciplined’ one, being lead by a ‘narcissist’ head coach, when at Kentucky.

  23. Noclu4u Says:

Hainsey will not beat out Barton at center . Honestly I think he will lose the left guard spot also to the guy they brought in from Philly .That guy is really good and could start on many teams in the NFL . Licht was smart and went and got a back up from a team with the best O-line in the league.
Very savvy move by Licht .
    As always GO BUCS !!!!

  24. JUAN Says:

“first and foremost is getting the run game going”

So he’s another Bowels yes-man. Great.

  25. Proudbucsfan Says:

Wirfs, Barton, Mauch, Hainsey, Goedeke. They have Barton listed as center so this is how it might turn out
Wirfs, Mauch, Barton, Hainsey, Goedeke, most starts by each player on right and left sides back to college.

  26. garro Says:

Umm it is OTAs Joe. He is a brand new coach here.

He is not gonna say anything else. He would say the same thing if they all showed up like they were acting in a Zombie movie.

    Go Bucs!
