Jalen McMillian Hits The Air Flying

May 10th, 2024

Solid first Bucs practice.

If Bucs fans had any questions about rookie receiver Jalen McMillan out of Washington, he may have answered some today, at least in his very first Bucs practice at rookie minicamp.

Per Jenna Laine of ESPN, McMillan caught all five of the targets that went his way this afternoon. Bowles likes McMillan’s versatility and suggested being able to play multiple receiver spots will help earn him a roster spot.

He hasn’t earned it. Yet.

“Physically yes,” Bowles said about being able to handle with NFL defenses. “Mentally, we have to see how he grasps the NFL system. So I can’t answer that right now [of his ability to make an impact with the Bucs this fall] until he grasps the system, how fast he grasps it and how fast he catches on.

“Physically he can step in and play football. But there’s a lot more to the game than that. It helps when you can play multiple positions.”

Five catches on five targets in your very first NFL practice is not a bad start.

Assuming he gets the playbook down the lights aren’t too bright, I think we will have gotten tremendous value grabbing this kid in the 3rd round…

Seems like he may be a Jarvis Landry type to me in the end.

This guy is the wild card in this draft, if he turns out to be the steal some people are claiming he is this will be another home run class for Licht. IMO

I believe he will end up as another strong JL 3rd round pick. Can’t wait to see.

I’m still leery about that injury

Is hitting the air flying commensurate with hitting the ground running?

    Todd loves the complex.

How about giving him one position and having him learn it really really well. Naaa, let’s have him learn X, Y, Z, H-back, nose guard and free safety in addition to gunner, kick returner, and cafeteria line cook. That way he can be as confused as the rest of Bwoles’ players.
