Jalen McMillan Reassures Bucs Fans That He Is Fine

May 10th, 2024

Rookie receiver Jalen McMillan.

You’ve heard this so much that you can likely recite it in your sleep.

Bucs rookie receiver Jalen McMillan dropped to the third round of the draft where the Bucs grabbed him because he was fighting through a bum knee in 2023.

Seems logical. Joe has no idea if that is 100 percent true but Joe believes it’s a fair discussion point that McMillan would not be on the Bucs now if he had a healthy 2023 season at Washington.

How hurt was McMillan? Well, he didn’t miss a game with the Huskies last year. And he had a game-high six catches in the national championship game against Michigan, which may have had one of the best defenses in college football.

Still, Bucs fans hear about McMillan’s knee affecting his draft status and start to stress that he may be damaged goods. McMillan put that to rest this morning at One Buc Palace.

McMillan said he was dealing with a sprained MCL. He declared himself fully healed and 100 percent ready to play football.

So we can all exhale now.

MCL grade 2 strain 8 months ago. Not an issue at at. The only ones bringing that up are to justify him still being on the board for the Bucs.

    Good read

One of 3 very important additions to the Offense…….Graham Barton at Center, Bucky Irving at RB & Jalen McMillan at WR…..these three will make a huge difference.

If I were to Power Rank the NFC …

    1. 49ers
    2. Lions
    3. Bucs-Eagles

Eagles-Bucs were 1:1 last year. Each crushed the other in a game. Not sure who the accurate favorite is this year. Both teams had good drafts.

    What TBBF said!

Am very curious to see how Bucky complements White and where McMillan fits in. Evans and Palmer are outside with Godwin in the slot. I think McMillan is more slot but he is going to have to find time on the outside and slot.
    Let’s not count out Jarrett.
We suddenly have a speedy WR corps!

Great news that he is healthy! I am looking forward to see how the Coen uses him, probably slot if he can block a little (Cooper Kupp blocks a lot).

They seem to really like drafting players from the Pac 12 & Pac 10. Maybe they can draft the CB Davis & the WR McMillan coming out of Arizona probably next year.

  9. Bucs Guy Says:

Love him as a 3rd round pick. I was hoping for either of the “other WRs from the UW.” Can’t wait to see him on the field fighting for the #3 WR position.

I really like all of the Bucs draft picks on offense this year. Braswell too.
