Rachaad White The Recruiter

April 5th, 2024

Salesman.

Those who follow Rachaad White on Twitter (currently known as “X”) noticed how White was on the offensive during free agency trying to lure a certain player to the Bucs.

And that was safety Jordan Whitehead. What is cool about this is that Whitehead, who was drafted and developed by the Bucs, had never played with White. The two became friends when their paths crossed in an offseason encounter.

Apparently, White did more than pump out Twitter love letters to Whitehead. He was texting him, too. And Whitehead wasn’t the only guy White was hounding.

While appearing on the “Pick Six” podcast, White admitted he was texting Bucs free agents. White said he soft sold Mike Evans via text. He wanted to give Evans his space but did tell host Tyler Sullivan that he texted Evans, “I miss you.”

Evans, White said, replied in kind.

White noted he didn’t have to text Baker Mayfield. He’d run into Mayfield every few days bouncing around Tampa. White added he had a hunch Mayfield would return because of the vibes Mayfield was giving.

“It was great, bringing everybody back,” White said. “We had a lot of leaders, veterans back. It is huge for me, a young guy who wants to be one of them. Be one of the voices on the team.”

White added he hopes that with just about everyone back, the Bucs can carry the momentum of winning six of their last eight games into this season.

“We didn’t like how the season ended,” White said of the close playoff loss in Detroit.

I like white , I’m not to the point where I think he should be getting the ball 20-25 times a game . Mr.white if you start breaking off big runs and getting 1500-2000 all purpose yards then I won’t want them to ever take you off the field .

  2. Buc4evr Says:

Note to Rachaad: now use twitter to find us a center and a guard…

  3. Pickgrin Says:

Find this man some IOL help – STAT!

  4. Lt. Dan Says:

I’m guessing that if White recruited guys on his own then it’s not considered tampering. If coaches but him up to it, I believe Warden Goodell will be side eyeing the Bucs shortly.

  5. Rover Says:

So if this season goes as the critics anticipate, we have our scapegoat. Sometimes you get what you ask for. Go Bucs !

  6. RVATom Says:

Say what you want about White’s running, he certainly doesn’t lack enthusiasm for his team. If the starters feel the same energy White feels and the new Offensive system isn’t a bust how can this yr NOT be entertaining at the least?

  7. go dawgs Says:

Finally, some actual use to whites podcasting empire.

  8. George Says:

Hail, I might be wrong, didn’t White have 1500 all purpose yards or very close to it

  9. TomBucsFan Says:

With the signing of Gregory, I think first round is OL and then 2nd round is DL/EDGE or a WR/CB

  10. SenileSenior Says:

OL first if we evaluate the individual as close to Wirfs level talent.

    Go Bucs!!!

  11. Pa Bucs fan Says:

@hail2dabucs I believe White did have over 1500 scrimmage yards! Kinda shocking but he was 8th in NFL in total yards which is pretty awesome, love seeing him with the ball in space he’s like Leveon but not a weirdo

  12. WildebeestBuckJoe Says:

Joe, he didn’t say almost everybody, he said EVERYBODY!

Interesting read between the lines. Devin White was likely never a part of last season’s team. Not a working, positive part at any rate. Imagine even last off-season, before the trade demand & petulant behavior, having someone speak words that equated to Devin White is nobody.

    I hate that I love he’s gone.

  13. Not Says:

I agree with White it’s great we were able to keep so many guys. Now we just need a RB and we’ll be all set !

  14. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

    White has a great attitude.

  15. Jack Clark Says:

Tom Brady lured players to Tampa bay that made him perform better at his position such as rob gronkowski, Antonio brown, shaq mason, Leonard fournett, etc. Rachaad White needs to do the same by luring good run blockers, especially guards and center

  16. Darin Says:

He’s gona be recruiting for another team if he doesnt play better. He at least needs to play better than Ronald Jones did

  17. BillyBucco Says:

Guy was a top 5 overall RB and you think he needs to play better SMH
He is the least of my worries at the moment.
Started thinking about needed offensive players and the more I think about a 1st round WR, the more i think it’s a pipe dream.
Do we really think now is the time the Bucs will load up at WR and spread the ball around. Can you imagine Brian Thomas getting like 1200 yards and 10 TDs and ME13 losing touches and having 950 yds. I seriously doubt the way Baker targets ME13 that would happen, but it doesn’t seem the Bucs WANT another 1,000 yd receiver when we have 2 that can play. I think Corneiilus Johnson would work just fine on the outside in round 4 or 5 and get us 509-600 yds. Or a slot receiver like Corley etc.
It’s not a sexy pick, but OL in the 1st round seems like it is gonna happen. Even a T that moves inside or Goedeke moves inside leaves so many guys available at 26. Teams will reach and guys will fall. I saw a mock with the Cowboys taking Jonathan Brooks at 22. Stupid.
