“Look Out. He’s Wide As A Refrigerator.”

April 27th, 2024

Love, love, love this video of new Buccaneers guard Elijah Klein, Tampa Bay’s sixth-round pick.

Former NFL offensive lineman turned NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger is well known for his Twitter/X film breakdowns. And prior to this week’s draft, he took on Klein and loved what he saw.

“Look out. He’s wide as a refrigerator. And he’s strong,” Baldinger said after noting how well Klein pulls, and hunts when he gets to the second level.

Out of the University of Texas El Paso, Klein was a four-year starter. He’ll need to tap that experience quickly if he hopes not to start the Tampa Bay season on the Bucs’ practice squad.

Joe also likes how the Bucs drafted an offensive lineman in addition to first-round pick Graham Barton. It’s a positive for Barton to have a fellower mauler to go through the rookie process with.

This draft was excellent! Bucs added at nearly every level.

  2. Buc4evr Says:

Wow, he could develop into a starter at some point. Seems like Baldy is enjoying this guy’s aggressiveness and attitude.

  3. Buc king Says:

Prospect…might take him 2years to figure it out

  4. QBKilla Says:

Love this pick almost as much as round 1.

  5. Hopein1hand… Says:

That’s the stuff. I hope Klein leaves me poking fun at myself for hemming and hawing about the earlier mauler beast-type guards available going to other teams. I love being wrong sometimes. I know nothing of him but I will trust Licht, Spytek and co. on this one.

  6. SB~LV Says:

The OL is going to be packed with a shot across a few bows that there will be competition for the 3 interior spots.
It is also clear that the FO still has fresh memories of the Lions DL grinding the Bucs OL into submission.
The OL starters will be a better unit along with the backups.
I think we are in for some offensive treats this fall.

  7. Capt.Tim Says:

    Center.
This guy needs to be our Center.
    Really like the pick.

  8. Todd Says:

I miss the confidence Donavan Smith provided us fans.

    Not.

    Love the direction we’re heading!

  9. Proudbucsfan Says:

These Oline pics are looking very tuff, we will find out soon

  10. Boss Says:

Bg durable white dude…..cloning the pats OL!

    I like it!

  11. lambchopp Says:

Why would you put him at C? He’s never played the position and it would further stunt his growth. Let him compete at G, this is a great depth/prospect pick. Moving a G to C has, as history has shown, been a difficult challenge even for guys picked way up higher in the draft.

  12. Biggun Says:

Now 2 NEW road graders on OL… Yes sir loving it!

  13. Gipper Says:

This looks like a real sleeper find. Hope this guy gets a chance to start at either Guard spot. Not sold on Mauch unless he has added strength in offseason. Wouldn’t mind using Round 7 to uncover another O lineman.

  15. SB~LV Says:

I stumbled across some Buc talking head or blogger opining that Cody Mach would get a look at center

  16. D-Rok Says:

This guy is gonna be mean and nasty. I’m sure. Why? Because I did Army basic training in El Paso, and that place made me pretty anxious (angry?) and was relieved when the Army sent me afterwards to Ft. Polk, LA. That relief was short-lived after I got to Leesville, but still, I REMEMBER El Paso. Nothing there to do except to think of ways to pancake people.

We got bigger and much stronger on the O line with this draft. Well done, JL et al.

  17. lambchopp Says:

Hainsey is on notice to put the work in at the gym and play meaner.

  18. Citrus County Says:

Looks like another redwood for the O line.

  19. David Says:

    A new center
Mauch Year older and hopefully has been in the weight room
Brought in left guard, drafted another guard
    biggest need has been addressed.
    Edge has been addressed.
    Nickel CB depth addressed.
    Wide receiver depth addressed.

    Like it!!
My biggest concern is ILB depth.

Road grading guard. Nice pick up to develop.

  21. infomeplease Says:

After the last two seasons, it would be nice to see the OL dominate weekly. I have no clue if this guy will find the field this year, but even if he doesn’t, I hope his attitude rubs off on the others. OL time to man up!!

  23. Admiral Redbeard Says:

Don’t know what you’re seeing BigSombreo, but can I get some of what you’re smoking so I can see it too? Barton was the ONLY solid pick.

  24. Oneilbuc Says:

He might end up being a starter!!

  25. All_da_way Says:

Crazy thing is that he might end up starting. That is how sub par the Bucs collection is at guard competing at LG.

  26. gotbbucs Says:

    Developmental guy

  27. 1#bucsfan Says:

For the people concerned about us NOT drafting a LB for the departure of diva white and for LVD eventual replacement Bucs brass believe we already have them and can replace LVD with a player next year. We have Britt which played good in place for white being benched. He’s not great in coverage so don’t let him cover lol. SVD showed promise in camp then got injured he could be LVDs replacement or whites. I bet he takes the next step forward this year and unseats Britt. Might just need to find another LB next year or sign one from FA

  28. ModHairKen Says:

These two OL are going to set a tone on that side of the ball. Klein is a mauler.

    D Smith. Our security blanket.

“Look Out. He’s Wide As A Refrigerator.””

There you go. so we bring in William Perry to teach him to run and we have our short yadrage pounder

  31. Idroolpewter&red Says:

    D Smith. Our security blanket.

Say what you want, but he’s got 2 rings. Tristan’s only got 1, so far.

  32. Mostly Peaceful Trask Fan Says:

You don’t usually find 10 year starters this late in the draft, but the Bucs might have.

This season will be stout, but next the Bucs will have the best line in the league.

  33. Oddball Says:

Hmmm. Always wanted an excuse to paint the beer fridge like a Bucs jersey. Maybe this dude give me that! His jersey would probably fit over it so there is that as well.

  34. orlbucfan Says:

LVD is healthy and will play like he always does this coming season. Quit worrying, David. You don’t think Licht and Bowles aren’t aware of his situation? Plus, CG14 will most likely move on after this year. Time will tell. now, let’s see who Lights-Out signs with the UDFAs.

  35. Kidfloflo Says:

Best time of the year, when people who are laying on their couch eating bags of Doritos and never put on a helmet in their life are screaming how we should have drafted their guys, and this one or that one are gonna be busts and we should have picked so and so and blah blah blah blah blah…

  36. MadMax Says:

Im loving this pick….and TE Kulp

We’ll see i guess….but the first 5 Jason and Spytek nailed it

  37. garro Says:

Our new RG? Mauch to center Rook to LG next to Wirfmonster?

    Go Bucs!
