Chris Braswell And Dallas Turner Equal Production (In Practice)

April 26th, 2024

Bucs OLB Chris Braswell.

OK, the more Joe learns about this Chris Braswell, the Bucs’ second-round pick and an outside linebacker/pass rusher, the more Joe likes.

Braswell did a Zoom/FaceTime call with the Bucs’ pen and mic club this evening after the Bucs selected him. There, we learned that Dallas Turner, the 17th overall selection by the Vikings and largely believed to be the second-best edge rusher in the draft, was no more or less productive as Braswell.

Well, at least in practice.

Braswell said Alabama has a production point system for practices. He and Turner had a competition: Who would finish the regular season with the most points.

Braswell said the race was neck-and-neck. Some practices Braswell led the season-total count. Other practices, Turned pulled into the lead.

At the end of the regular season, Braswell said he and Turner were tied.

So if the Bucs can get the same amount of production as the first edge rusher selected in the draft, that’s pretty good for a second-round pick.

Now Joe noticed Braswell’s college sack total the past three seasons with 17, Joe shrugged his shoulders. Eh. Six a year?

Then Joe noticed Braswell had eight this past season. Playing in the SEC.

Joe thinks Braswell ought to work out fine for the Bucs.

Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, you are now on notice.

    Yep !
He will become an excellent player

  2. Austing Says:

He and Yaya should do great

  3. Hearty Dikerson Says:

If you put this player in a vacuum on any other team in the country, he’d be by far the best pass rusher on his team. But because he played for Alabama, he’s super scrutinized. We got a good one, Bucs fans.

  4. Fun Guy Says:

Played behind Will Anderson, only got real burn last season. Led the SEC in pressures, reportedly hit 22 mph in practice. Have you seen his jumping video? Good grief!

  5. CTBucs Says:

Of course you do because he’s an edge rusher. Bashed Barton last night…

  6. BRYAN KOHN Says:

Bad MF! Walks the walk! Welcome to the Family. Need you here!

  7. Hearty Dikerson Says:

We just drafted a DE that runs 22MPH…

  8. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Well hopefully he knows how to develop on his own because this coaching staff is hard pressed to develop anybody, and a head coach too stubborn to let a rookie start even though he showed up big in every game he played in. Don’t know why we get so many “projects” when they don’t do much building on them

  9. MadMax Says:

    I knew I saw something in Braswell…..

  10. SB~LV Says:

    😂
Lots of panties in a wad tonight
Now draft Blake Corum if he is available when the Bucs have their chances tonight!

  11. BigMacAttack Says:

This guy is a beast. Great pick. May end up being a Julius Peppers type player and the steal of the draft. Licht and his band of merry men are doing a great job so far.

  12. Lakeland Steve Says:

So Jason Licht does listen to you Joe. You have been pounding your fist for an edge rusher. Let’s hope he is an excellent pick.

  13. SB~LV Says:

Blake Corum is gone now, Chargers

  14. SB~LV Says:

Jason is being very patient this year and confident in his draft board and the availability of appropriate talent matching with the Bucs needs

  15. David Says:

8 last year and led the SEC in pressures. It was the only year he started at that position.
I think him and Yaya coming off the edge, both high energy nonstop guys, is going to work out extremely well

    LFG

  16. unbelievable Says:

Alright I’m coming around on this pick

  17. unbelievable Says:

The S and WR both seemed like a bit of reaches in round 3, but those cards got turned in fast.

    Thoughts?

  18. Leopold Stotch Says:

Well I called Tykee Smith. I figured he’d be one of our picks for sure. I forgot McMillan, he’s very solid from what I recall, just injured. I definitely don’t think safety was needed at all, but Bowles loves him which is why he’s a Buc.

  19. BamaBucc Says:

He got 8 sacks and only started a few games because of the talent. The 2 “glue” guys for the Alabama D this year were Terrion and Braswell. He’s so underrated I’m telling you guys he was a steal

  20. Pepsi Says:

Loved the Barton pick. This one though.. not gonna lie, I just don’t see what is special about this guy. Looks like he is running in mud, almost always the last one off the line.

  21. PNW Buc Says:

I believe it was Daniel Jeremiah had a 1st round grade on the kid. He could have entered the transfer portal, but stuck around. Played behind will Anderson the year before, tough to surpass the RDPOTY. Great pick, we’re going to love him!

  22. Esteban85 Says:

But for a couple tenths of a second on his 40 time, Braswell is a carbon copy of Turner.

  23. 76 bucsfan46 Says:

    Awesome

  24. Drunkinybor Says:

Love this pick. I think he’s going to be a very good pro. I don’t like the wr we took at all. I hope I’m wrong.

  25. Buc4evr Says:

Braswell is flat out fast. Was reading that he was clocked at 21.8 mph in a game. Tyreek Hill was clocked at 22.01 mph last year for a comparison. Think this guy is going to easily replace Shaq. Great pick!
