Jason Licht And Todd Bowles Have Arguments

March 6th, 2024

Cool insight here on how the big bosses of the Buccaneers’ football product have firm disagreements.

Man, Joe would love to listen in.

Licht acknowledged how debating personnel with Bowles is different than how he interacted with Bucco Bruce arians.

“I find with Todd, he and I have these healthy arguments. And we do them at night and then the next day when we see each other, then we’ll see how each other feels,” Licht told the 3 and Out podcast. “Sometimes I’ll change, sometimes he’ll change and say, ‘You’re right.’ It’s about 50-50. …

“Over time he and I have grown a lot closer and we can read each other’s minds now, finish each other’s sentences. That whole thing. We have a great working relationship.”

Joe wonders if Bowles and Licht had an argument about giving Baker Mayfield a window to jump into free agency if desires? That’s what the Bucs have done by dropping the franchise tag on Antoine Winfield, Jr.

Healthy disagreements. Looking forward to FA, winning a playoff game last year was huge; lowers the chance you overpay. Players have been known to turn down a more lucrative offer for a chance in the big dance

    Baker
    Chase
    (New) Depth O-lineman
    Restructure a few (Godwin, Vea)
Then sign Wirfs to long extension
    Then get ready for draft
    ——
    In that order

Oh and Tweezy is one of my favorite Bucs but I think he’s gonna have to play on Tag this year (like Shaq did) then he gets to break bank next year!!!

    Go Bucs!

  4. I remember 21 Says:

Licht has to look past this season. bowles will be gone after this season. Simple as that.

  5. Marine Buc Says:

Healthy debate between a Head Coach and GM is beneficial to an NFL franchise.

Both Todd Bowles and Jason Licht are “master debaters”…

  6. Pickgrin Says:

“Healthy arguments” are quickly becoming extinct in our current society

Glad to hear that Licht and his HC have such a good working relationship.

  7. ModHairKen Says:

If Baker wants to start over again, with lesser WRs and lesser support over money, I can understand that.

Let’s see what kind of man he is.

  8. Allbuccedup Says:

Maybe Licht will fire him soon Mike Vrabel is still out there and a far better head coach.

  9. DungyDance Says:

I wish Licht had won the debate with Bowles on canning Leftwich mid-season.

  10. HC Grover Says:

I like the name ‘Chop’ that would compliment ‘Ya Ya’.

  11. JimBobBuc Says:

It sounds like Licht and Bowles are adults and can respectfully disagree. Their careers and reputations are impacted by their decisions, unlike us here on JBF. 🙂

This has the hallmarks of success written all over it! Type A personalities winning, collaborating, chipping in… but when losses pile up, it’s butting heads, egos, personality clash…. what I like is Licht’s ability to throw praise at the coach early!!! That is saying I have full confidence!! Very excited
