Baker Mayfield On New Bucs OC Liam Coen

February 3rd, 2024

Bucs QB Baker Mayfield.

So what does pending free agent quarterback Baker Mayfield think of new Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Cohen? Mayfield shared some thoughts yesterday in Orlando at Camping World Stadium where the Pro Bowl practice was held.

Joe’s good friend Rock Riley was out there and he chronicled Mayfield’s words.

Of course, Mayfield is playing in the Pro Bowl.

“Out of all the guys they interviewed and all the names I saw, lot of good options,” Mayfield said. “Obviously I got to work with Liam in LA. Great guy. Really, really great guy.

“If they lock [Coen] down for sure, it is a similar system. [It is] basically the same system, just different terminology and how he wants to call things.”

Mayfield also added having the same type of offense that had so much success last year, along with the same players, “is important to have.”

It was Coen who one could say salvaged Mayfield’s career late in 2022 with the Rams. When Mayfield was cut by the Stinking Panthers, it was his lowest point since being drafted No. 1 overall by the Browns.

Mayfield had some success with the Rams, which planted a seed in Bucs AC/DC-loving Jason Licht’s noggin that Mayfield could be the Bucs’ quarterback.

And we all saw what happened.

  1. Gipper Says:

Don’t know why you keep promoting the idea that Mayfield was “cut” by Carolina. Baker asked for and was granted his release so he could join the Rams.

  2. Paratrooper Buc Says:

You are right Gipper. He asked to be waived after being benched twice. The Panthers last year were so bad that no QB would have brought them a winning season. This year showed they haven’t improved and have a lot of areas that need work. Canales better have a guaranteed contract because Temperament Tantrum Tepper will fire him on a whim even though the team is in rebuild mode.

  3. Oneilbuc Says:

Bo Nix should be our franchise quarterback move up to get him if you have to. Him or Penix Jr it’s time to move into the future. We will not win a superbowl with Baker Mayfield or less we have the 02 bucs defense and they can’t play defense like that anymore. Go Bucs !!

  4. Crickett Baker Says:

I hope Baker stays. He has a LOT of reasons to want to beat the Panthers (who have recently become my least favorite division team).

  5. Anyhony Says:

    Go Bucs!

  6. Oneilbuc Says:

Baker lost his job to Sam Donald and that’s the truth I know you guys think Baker is a franchise quarterback but he’s not and you will see how many teams will want him as their franchise quarterback. Watch and see how much money that teams are going to offer him . The bucs has all the leverage over Baker Mayfield they do not have to pay him 40 million dollars. They don’t have to even pay him 30 million. Ain’t no other team paying Baker Mayfield money like that. I just hope the bucs organization is not stupid enough to pay Baker that kind of money.

  7. Jake been there since the beginning Says:

Nice job reminding everyone that Baker wasn’t out of Carolina Gipper.. the Bucs could have been in the same place this season if not for, we’ll say Baker plus everyone else getting on board with him and Canales. What the hell the NFL pretty much wrote them off. We’re gonna ask God for success with Coen. I like what I read from Jenna about this guy today.

  8. Lt. Dan Says:

I’m pretty impressed with Coen. Baker went to LA with what..? about three days to prepare for a game and he nailed it. Gotta give Coen the teacher props.

  9. chickster Says:

Onilbucs is right on , He took Cleveland to the playoffs and won a game but sucked the next year . Id be weary about this guy

  10. stpetebucfan Says:

    ONeilbuc

You were such a Jameis jock sniffer and supporter that your opinions on QB’s has been trashed previously on this blog.

“It was Coen who one could say salvaged Mayfield’s career last year”

OK so which is it? Did Coen save his career or Canales? Man I get trolls looking for EVERY excuse to find fault but I agree with Cobra…It was Mayfield who got Canales the job and probably has been instrumental in getting Coen’s his position.

Why do we need such revisionist history. Baker SUCCEEDED with one of the worst franchise in the NFL in Cleveland…an injury and bad management stopped that success. On his way back he tried Carolina…Tepper’s personal dumpster fire and then showed he still had some game left in LA.

According to LA papers at the time the Rams wanted to keep Baker as a backup and heir apparent to Stafford. Baker bet on HIMSELF and came to a Bucs team forecast to suck out loud by most…smart money in LV said 6.5-7wins…NOT 10 wins and another division championship.

I think this is a great hire. It also shuts up our moronic trolls who keep yammering see..NO OC because nobody wants to work for Todd Bowles.
Yeah how’s that looking right now?

    —-

So your genius idea is to actually use trade assets to move up for a player like Penix with a history of multiple injuries?

So happy you are not making any decisions for the Bucs

Baker lost his job to Sam Donald and that’s the truth

    ——

and then also PJ Walker. In other words they tried every single QB they had and none of them could make the Panther’s work.

So then they drafted one —— and still couldn’t make it work. There’s the REAL truth.

Congratulations! You toasted your own argument going down that road.

  13. MadMax Says:

Welcome aboard Liam….. now we need to get to more business Mr Licht…. Bring back Baker, Evans (if affordable), Winfield and our surefire kicker….. draft rt Mims, wr Wilson, rb Irving, and another safety. Find a C or move Mauch there and Goedeke to rg (he can also be a bu rt). Ok, another scenario, if you want to go QB, spencer Rattler in the 3rd and his WR Leggett in the 4th. There ya go…. Im still waiting to get paid but its all good, I’ll take rain checks lol.

  14. Oneilbuc Says:

Stepetebuc. You mad because I tell the truth lol 🤣🤣 Baker Mayfield is a inconsistent quarterback and I can promise you one thing we ain’t winning a superbowl with Baker Mayfield. He showed you that when he choked against the Lions. But I get it if that would have been Jamies then he would have been the reason why we lost according to you! Lol 🤣🤣 again I rather Bo Nix or Penix Jr than average to below average quarterback that’s already showed you what he is at this point of his career. How many drop interseptions he had a guy pulled it up it was like 27 drop picks ? Oh I forgot according to you that’s only a Jamies stat not Faker Mayfield!! Lol 🤣🤣 I just call it like I see it regardless who the player is!!

  15. A Bucs Fan Says:

@MadMax – Goedeke was ranked as a top 7 RT this season. He’s not moving inside.

  16. Saskbucs Says:

When Baker sucked with the Browns after taking them to the playoffs, he was not healthy. His none throwing shoulder was effed. All year he looked like he did in the Panthers game end of the season where he was also hurt. Over throws, poor accuracy. When he is healthy, those things aren’t an issue and he is a decent QB. Worth paying 25-30 million. Falcons are the only competition for him.

  17. Oneilbuc Says:

Tony Marks . Baker Mayfield stays hurt remember that’s one of his excuses you guys give him. Baker Mayfield has been inconsistent the whole year and we ain’t winning a superbowl with Baker Mayfield you know it and I know it to so why waste another year with Baker Mayfield? But I don’t believe you a real bucs fan you might just be a Baker Mayfield fan and all you care about is his stats and not the team winning superbowles!!

  18. MadMax Says:

I dont care what he was ranked, I know what I saw. Did you see? Obviously NOT. I dont need rankings and stats when I have eyes to see pal. Go back and watch that playoff detroit game!!! I swear Hutchinson must have told him 10,000 to your account right now if you will just ignore me this one play!!!

Baker better than Bo Nix IMO.
Yet Bo Nix might be better than Jameis Winston at this point so there is that.

  20. geno711 Says:

    MadMax,

Goedeke got beat in the Detroit game by the best defensive player from the 2022 NFL draft IMO. Who do you have rated higher from that 2022 draft?

Just curious why you want to forget the other 18 games that Goedeke played this year at Right tackle.

Did you not use your eyes in those other 18 games this year? Please explain all the other games your eyes showed you he got beat in.

  21. stpetebucfan Says:

    ONeill

If it had been Jameis it would have been a miracle. Let’s see how many playoff games has “Fameis” won. Oh that’s right Fameis has yet to win even one because the cement head has yet to even make it to the playoffs!!!

BTW ONeill…I’m Irish so I like you don’t take it personally.

And speaking of being Irish…I love any coach named “Liam”.

  22. Winny Testaverde Says:

I like Mayfield and enjoyed his season. He was one more loss away ( at 4-7 ) from a possible career death. He rallied, played well ( hated his final pass of the season, however ) and backed into the pro bowl as an alternate. He’s riding high. Having said that…he’s probably not worth what he expects to be paid. This is going to get interesting.

  23. Conner50 Says:

    @Oneilbuc
You may or may not be right about mayfield winning a Super Bowl ever but Bo Nix or Penix? Now that’s crazy considering both of them took like 5 or 6 years to get good in college. Also Nix is a turnover machine, his senior year he did well cause it was dump off passes/line of scrimmage plays that got his stats. He is not a guy who can throw it all over and be trustworthy or consistent. Penix has been hurt a lot and is a lefty so idk bout that pick.

  24. WyomingJoe Says:

Oneilbuc and Chickster: Baker can’t win a SuperBowl? Don’t make me laugh!

Ok, geniuses, how many SB’s have the following “elite” QB’s won:

    Lamar Jackson
    Josh Allen
    Joe Burrow
    Herbert
    Kirk Cousins
    Jalen Hurts
    Dak Prescott

I COULD GO ON AND ON BOYS… So don’t make me laugh!

  25. HC Grover Says:

    Oh Well.

  26. Capt.Tim Says:

    Onielbuc
    We get it already!!!
We know you are a clueless clown, with no knowledge of Football you’ve been showing us that all season!
No need to keep showing your ignorance. We all know.

  27. MadMax Says:

Oh great excuse Geno, another apologist!!! HE DIDNT EVEN TRY on that one play…i guess im the only one who saw it….f me for being real and calling what i see!!! Go f yourselves!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. Jack Clark Says:

I hope Liam Coen gets hired to be a head coach next year so we can have a Todd Bowles coaching tree 🙂

  29. Jack Clark Says:

Liam Coen will win me over if he doesn’t waste first and second down running between the tackles

  30. Oneilbuc Says:

Wyoming. Dak and Cousins are not elite I will say Baker is better than Cousins all day long and he might be as good or one notch under Dak . But Burrow, Jackson and Josh Allen played in conference championships and Burrow actually played in a superbowl. Herbert is better than Baker Mayfield as well as Jackson, Josh Allen and Burrow you can’t compare Baker Mayfield with those guys. The only ones you can compare Baker with is Dak and Cousins like I said he’s better than Cousins all day long. Baker Mayfield can’t be in the same conversation with Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen and Burrow.

  31. LongSeason Says:

This is a good hire. It does two things. Bucs can run similar offense and Baker knows Cohen. Baker stays and then maybe we keep Mikey, too.

  32. Brandon Jeff Says:

This probably will not be a popular post, but it is my honest opinion. I think we are about to lose ME and Baker to free agency. This may not be the worst thing that could happen.
We don’t have the horses right now to be a Super Bowl contender and will not be that team in the near future. The best thing for the bucs right now would be to let Baker and ME go, pick up a journeyman quarterback and give the reins to Trask For next year.
We will either have our quarterback of the future, or we will have high draft picks for the next several years in which we can rebuild our team, including finding a quarterback. We will also clear the financial burden. We have too many holes to fill now and picking late in the draft Will handcuff us from rebuilding the team. We are stuck in the no man’s land of draft status, and will continue to be for the foreseeable future unless a major shake up occurs.

  33. CalBucsFan Says:

He’s a short-term solution that will continue to fall short of what should be the team’s long-term goal, having an elite QB on board to compete annually for a SB championship. Milk toast 9-8 records just don’t cut it Licht.

  34. A Bucs Fan Says:

@Madmax – staying true to your handle there bud. Objectively, Goedeke was massively improved over last year and is by all means an ascending player. One missed assignment, even in a play off game, won’t change that. Realistically he was the Bucs best run blocking lineman and the second best pass protector behind Wirfs.

  35. Oneilbuc Says:

Capt. Tim . I just call it like it see it you are a Baker fan so you put your blinders on. When he plays well you give him all the credit but when he sucks you blame everyone else but him . Baker is not a bad quarterback he’s just inconsistent and you ain’t winning a superbowl with a quarterback like that. Especially a quarterback that’s going into his 7 year and he’s still inconsistent come on now. I wanted Baker to succeed so bad in Cleveland because at that time the media hated him and they wanted him to fail. I wouldn’t have mind if the bucs would have gotten him right after he was in Cleveland. But when he went to the Panthers and the Rams I was done with Baker being a franchise quarterback. I thought he would actually be good with the Panthers. And what happened in training camp I just don’t believe Baker earn the starting job. If it would have went the other way around im training camp then I would say he earn the starting job. And let’s be honest he was inconsistent all season and we have proof on that.

  36. Okiejim Says:

    Haters, never say never!

  37. A Bucs Fan Says:

@Brandon Jeff – I don’t disagree with you and I think that was the plan all along. That’s why they didn’t offer a long term contract to ME13 before the season. The Bucs surprised themselves with their success. Post-Brady I didnt anticipate them being a contender again until 25/26 at a minimum. Still as a fan I wouldn’t want to lose ME13. He should get the Larry Fitz treatment and retire a buc… Now though I think he’s going to Houston.

  38. Jack Clark Says:

Lian Coen should be an upgrade over Dave Canales because at least he has experience calling plays throughout a game

  39. Cobraboy Says:

  40. MadMax Says:

We can do better with Mims!!!!!!!!

  41. Brandon Jeff Says:

We are at a crossroads right now. We either bite the bullet now, or we remain a not quite good enough team for the foreseeable future.

  42. Oneilbuc Says:

Corbraboy. Y’all say the same old corney jokes find something new to say !!

  43. Oneilbuc Says:

Okiejim. That’s the word people use when you speak truth about their favorite players. Telling the truth about a player is not hate because we have proof of what I’m saying about Baker Mayfield. He’s not a trash quarterback he’s just average that’s all . And with a quarterback like that you have to have a great to historical defense to win a superbowl. And we have already missed on a first rounder in defense like JTS and a top second round pick on Logan Hall!! But I guess if you say JTS has not been good it’s haten right? Or maybe when you say Logan Hall ain’t been good I guess that’s haten on him as well? Come man is it’s haten when someone say Devin White wasn’t good this year? You see that’s what I be talking about you guys don’t know how to even use that word properly.

  44. infomeplease Says:

Oniel, you make me lol!!!! You are comparing a pro bowler-BM6 (albeit a 2nd option pic) to JTS and LH!! LOL!!! LOL!!!

  45. BigEd Says:

Some of these Baker Haters need to quit crossing up your eye drops with your
laxatives because it’s giving them a sh—-y outlook on life !

  46. Cobraboy Says:

@Oneil: the same old corny jokes are still 100% accurate.

Of course, I could say the same about your one-trick ATM pony.

  47. BakerFan Says:

You can say all you want about weather someone could win you a superbowl. I watched Brock Purdy for 3 years in college and he was sub par and if he didn’t work within the 49er system he would still be classified subpar.

  48. Jason Anthony Sturgess Says:

LOL “Bo Nix should be our franchise quarterback move up to get him if you have to. Him or Penix Jr it’s time to move into the future. We will not win a superbowl with Baker Mayfield or less we have the 02 bucs defense and they can’t play defense like that anymore. Go Bucs” – Oneilbuc

LOL AGain, The odds of any QB drafted being your so called “Franchise QB” is very low. Why exactly would any of the names you mentioned be better than Baker Mayfield? Let’s say they aren’t. So you replaced a proven QB with an unproven QB because you don’t think the proven QB will get you to the superbowl but think the unknown will. That is one of the most ridiculous thought processes I’ve ever heard.

  49. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Oneil, if you think Baker is better than Cousins, and close to on par with Dak, you are essentially telling all of us that Baker is a top 10 QB in the NFL. If you believe that, how can you believe Baker can’t win a Super Bowl?
I watch a lot of college football. I think Nix has bust written all over him as he has no arm that I ever see. Love Penix, but hate his injury history. I’ve followed him since his freshman year at Indiana. Fantastic thrower of the ball though. Reminds me of a left handed Marino.

  50. BucaneroJim Says:

We need the Coen brothers as co-OC. They would be most creative and entertaining. O Brother where art thou pigskin?

  51. Oneilbuc Says:

Baker Mayfield is not a top 10 quarterback so we just going to ignore the Lions game right? Baker Mayfield had proven to be average because he’s so inconsistent. And watch this year it will be the same results or worse but I know you guys will give him a pass and blame the OC and Todd Bowles. Remember a lot of people thought Josh Allen was a bust even I said that about Josh Allen and now look at him. He’s better than Baker Mayfield by miles. I know you guys will Nick pick Bo Nix and Penix Jr college career. But Baker Mayfield played in a conference that don’t believe in defense and that’s the big 12 . But I can’t wait until this season starts Baker will be inconsistent and you guys will make every excuse in the book for him so you can’t have a real conversation with people like that even if you show real evidence you guys will deny it and blame everyone else but Baker Mayfield.

Always new he was around 12-14 years old

  53. Oneilbuc Says:

Oh and by the way I don’t want to hear he’s in a new offense excuse he has the whole off season to learn it. I know that’s the favorite excuse Baker fans use CJ Stroud had to learn a new offense and the quarterback you guys say is trash and this his first year and that’s Brice Young. So if you ain’t giving those quarterbacks and others that excuse you can’t give Baker Mayfield that excuse!!

  54. Marky Mark Says:

It is amazing how sure of themselves when people say you will not win a super bowl with so and so. The thing is they will be right 99% of the time because hardly any QBs will win a super bowl. It is a meaningless statement. I can say with a 99% probability that Lamar Jackson will never win a super bowl. And i will probably be right. But i don,t think the Ravens will cut him because he sells tickets.

  55. LongTimeBucaneer Says:

We’ll be fine. Licht is a great GM. I have always been a Baker fan. He’s scrappy, and can throw the crap out of the football. He is not boring. As a season ticket holder I hope he comes back so my #6 jersey is still relevant. I hope all of our priority FA’s can come back. Defense is my primary concern. Our millionaire corners were not that great. The new OC looks like a winner. Can’t wait to see what he does. Canales was okay, but it was hard to watch run after run when we were going no where. Late in the season he got better. Finally started running outside the tackles. No huge loss. A loss for sure, but Coen may just be better.

  56. Marky Mark Says:

Has Josh Allen won a super Bowl? No so he must be trash.

  57. Trask To The Future Says:

    HAHAHHAHAHAHAHA

If I stand to make $35M+ a year I’d say Scooby Doo was an awesome hire and someone I looked forward to running plays for.

  58. Oneilbuc Says:

So as a fan base do we want superbowles or just make the playoffs? I know it’s a lot of Baker fans on here so you don’t really care if the bucs win or not as long as your guy Baker put up good numbers. And it’s funny how you can compare Baker to Josh Allen lol 🤣😆. The Bills has a better chance in winning a superbowl with Josh Allen than the bucs with Baker Mayfield!! This is the only fan base that believes Baker is a franchise quarterback lol 🤣🤣. Golf is a better quarterback than Baker Mayfield if we had him I would be more confident in getting to a superbowl. He’s proved he can help a team get there Baker has never played in a conference championship regardless how good his teams has been . I can’t wait until next year!!!

  59. Chris Says:

Oneibuc, you mad cause Baker just had a helluva year and is getting a big contract?
Nix and Penix are not a s sure of a thing as Baker, and EVERY QB is “inconsistent “. That is the worst argument againsta. QB because it can literally be used against any QB. It all comes out in the wash. What matters is, what kind of overall season a QB has and especially how they finish a season. Baker did both as well as ANY other NFL QB except for Mahomes. We get it , you hate Baker Mayfield, but make better arguments man. Oh wait THERE ARE NO LEGITIMATE ARGUMENTS AGINST BAKER AT THIS POINT.

  60. Chris Says:

Onibuc, you think Goff is better than Baker? Not according to what he did in the playoffs. He had much better protection, a better run game and a good defense and he didn’t put up numbers as good as Baker. He can’t run for tough yards like Baker either, because he would get broken in half. Baker is as likely as any other QB to win a Suoer Bowl, except for Mahomes. Lamar and Josh Allen should have already won at least 1 Super Bowl because they play on great TEAMS.
The Bucs are building a great team, but not there yet.

  61. Oneilbuc Says:

Chris. Mahomes will be playing in his 4th Superbowl next Sunday and you can’t put Baker in the same breath with Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. Baker is not a bad quarterback but he’s average. And if the bucs pay him franchise quarterback money that will bad for the team moving towards the future. He’s not a franchise quarterback and his career has shown that. Think about it like this Baker Mayfield best year is Mahomes worse year in his career that should tell you something. But to all you Baker fans and even some of the real bucs fans if you guys are ok with mediocrey than we have nothing to talk about. We are on 2 different levels. If 9-8 is good to you guys and you are ok with that than I have no more conversation for you guys.

  62. Statguy Says:

Everyone wants to talk QB but they ran the ball well which Bowles wants to do. Don’t be surprised if we draft Ray Davis either. That would a good 1-2 punch. Need.more than just white back there

  63. Oneilbuc Says:

Chris. Let me ask you something why would anyone hate any player that they never met before in their entire life? Why when you speak facts about a player regardless of position it’s call hate?

  64. Oneilbuc Says:

Oh yeah to all those who say everyone hates Baker because they speak on what they see and have the fact it backup. I have one question how come you guys can come on here and say they need to fire Bowles and you bash him every time they show his face but you don’t call that haten . But when it comes to Baker Mayfield it’s hate? That’s a good question you can bash Todd Bowles and he’s not even on the field for bad coaching at times. But for Baker Mayfield you can’t say anything bad about him or even call him a average quarterback but you call it haten when it comes to Baker Mayfield ?

  65. Shane Callahan Says:

Baker did not lose his job to Darnold. Bo Nix can’t hold Baker’s jock. Some of you all are complete morons, I swear.

  66. Shane Callahan Says:

Canales is a glorified cheerleader. He owes Mayfield and Wolford a whole lot of money for getting him that Carolina gig.

  67. Jason Anthony Sturgess Says:

Oneilbuc yu call Baker Mayfield average but you’d rather have 2 unproven QBs like Nix & Pennix instead who have never played a pro game or Trask who’s a second rounder. You make zero sense. Has Josh Allen gotten you to the Super Bowl? Has Lamar Jackson. They each won 1 more playoff game this year than Baker. So that 1 game is the difference between replacing Baker not Jackson or Allen with an unproven College QB. Genius.

  68. Okiejim Says:

No matter how one tries to spin hate, hate is still hate.

  69. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Oneilbuc Says:
    “…Dak…are not elite…”

1 losing season in 8 years and 4 of them were 12+ wins. Maybe not elite, but certainly a winner.

  70. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I firmly believe trust is earned. As EVERYONE here knows, I was not in favor of Baker Mayfield being handed the starting role (which he was; he did not earn it fairly). But that, to be honest, is on Bowles.

I certainly feel for Trask. I do not know if he can be good. Maybe he can, maybe he cannot. But anyone claiming he is good or bad is being dishonest…because we don’t know. Bowles did not hold a fair competition.

But again…that’s on Bowles…and for much of the season, I held that against Mayfield.

And fans of Mayfield make a lot of claims to justify his past performances, relying one a one year record to claim he is great. I don’t buy into that at all.

But…what I do buy into is what he did THIS YEAR.

Okay, so to me, though Baker showed ‘Moxie’ (a term I hate hearing, but a good thing to have in a QB), his performance much of the year left a lot to be desired…

…but then…things started clicking. It was like a light in the entire offense came on, and Baker started playing…well, darn near elite. Not quite, but close enough.

In those moments, he earned a contract in my book.

But I’m not blind. He still had up and down moments…and the down moments were most often.

Still, the kid does not give up…and when things happen that are out of his control…man, I feel for him.

So, yeah, give him a contract…just not a foolish contract. He had a good year in the past and followed it up with a bad year (for whatever reason), so that justifies at least using caution.

Protect the cap. Protect the team.

$25m per year plus true incentives that can raise it to $30-35m per year, 3 year deal with an option for a 4th year at an increased salary. $40m Guaranteed.

That prevents the cap from exploding unless he does well, and he can be cut without real penalty after 2 years (or traded) if the Bucs are not happy.

Those incentive and option will keep him earning his contract.

Trask has one year left. Keep him thru camp, bring in 2nd string competition for him. Make the best of the lot our #2 in case Mayfield gets hurt.

Meanwhile, make a center a first pick priority.

  71. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Ahhh, the mod bot is holding my post! LOL

You just a Baker Mayfield fan I’ve never seen you on here lol 🤣🤣 . Baker Mayfield is a average to below average quarterback rather you like or not. It’s been proven he’s a one read quarterback and he panics if it’s his first read ain’t there . I get he’s a hall of famer to you and his fan boys!! Lol 🤣🤣

  73. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

The proof is in the pie, and baker cooked us a pretty good pie last year. Next.

  74. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

Just remember this, if one lower oneself to argue with an idiot; that says idiotic things repeatedly, what does that make you?

  75. heyjude Says:

Baker is out there performing and other teams are looking at him. He sat at the big table during the Pro Bowl. He won the precision throwing. What we saw is a calm, humble, and good guy. Hopefully, we can keep him. Reading rumors about the Patriots possibly being interested in him since Van Pelt is there now. And there is a possibility that Evans will go where he goes.

Tony Marks . Baker Mayfield stays hurt remember that’s one of his excuses you guys give him.

    ——-

Literally not a single person this entire season has ever claimed Baker stays hurt. You just pulled that out of your lower end.

Congrats! Put that together with all your other nonsense and claims of having a working crystal ball and you are now competing with David for the commenter no one can bother taking seriously or even read.

Mayfield is a waste of time and money if our objective is the Super Bowl.

If our objective is the Super Bowl – unless a Tom Brady is available – we should be playing and developing Trask.

    ——

oh Good Lawdie. 23 yard in three years 30% completion rate Kylie boy is the Saviour for the Bucs winning a super bowl.

Baker can’t win one according to these neophytes but done nothing , most time third stringer Trask that couldn’t even win a championship when called upon in college is a super elite SB winning Qb

There comes a time when You have to stop reading blog comments here because your brain cells will just melt away for the silliness.

is the Mahomes tye layer for SB dominance

  78. Hodad Says:

You don’t need a superstar QB to run this offense. Baker is good enough to make us competitive. That said, you should always be looking to upgrade the QB room. I like resigning Baker, but if a good young QB falls to us in the draft we should pounce. It’s worked well for K.C., and G.B.. I can’t wait to see who Coen taps to fill out his staff.

  79. Statguy Says:

We can always tag baker @35m for next season

“But when it comes to Baker Mayfield it’s hate?”

I agree with you “hater” is hyperbole in MOST cases not all. I do not consider you a “hater”. I do consider you misinformed.

Here is why guys still feel free to tee off on Todd. He’s now 17-17 with the Bucs.
    Given his circumstances I consider that to be a B- B+…still it’s .500.

In six seasons Baker narrowly missed out on rookie of the year to Saquon Barkley. No shame in that. The team he joined had won ONE game in the previous two seasons! Placed in context..Baker had an excellent rookie season as recognized by even the players who named him 50th on the top 100.

    Season ONE -SUCCESS!!!
Season Two – Bad…too many ints 22TD’s 21ints and a 6-10 record which was actually again very good for the Browns but nothing to really brag about.
Season 3…11-5!!! First playoff win on the road for the Browns in over FIFTY years. Enormous SUCCESS!!!
Season 4…horrible injury…coaching turmoil…wasted year not Bakers fault.
Season 5…struggling to come back from injury on a crappy David Tepper Panther team that traded freaking McCaffery their offense! NOT Baker’s fault
Season 6…you know season six…Bucs in playoffs win first round and hang in their on the road in the second round. By all measures Baker good to excellent season given the Cap strapped cast around him.

Do the math…3 successful seasons…one not so successful..two wasted seasons not really on Baker after his injury.

Take away the two lost years and you have Baker succeeding in 3 out of his 4 seasons in the league.

Opinions are like……How about some facts!!!

  81. Gipper Says:

    stpetebucfan,

These guys don’t want facts they want to pretend they know something about NFL QB play. This is a harmless forum where they are allowed to sound self assured. Your response is spot on but until Mayfield wins MULTIPLE Super Bowls these guys are going to tell you what he can’t do. A lot of it is a need to be taken seriously by anybody. Joe Burrow who is a spectacular QB couldn’t win a starting job at Ohio State and transferred to LSU. There are many in Ohio who ran down Burrow because he couldn’t win the OSU starting job. I like the example of Matthew Stafford who couldn’t win anything in Detroit but the year he escaped to LA they win Super Bowl. Goys like OneillBuc would be part of the chorus saying “Stafford not going to win Super Bowl” until he does.

  82. StormyInFl Says:

Oneill is the same guy who said the Bucs would regret dumping Jameis and signing Brady.

That’s really all anyone really needs to know.

  83. Oneilbuc Says:

Look the only thing you Baker fans do is make up a bunch of excuses for Baker Mayfield. I get it to you guys he’s a hall of famer but to the rest of the franchises in the NFL know that Baker is not a franchise quarterback. If he was he wouldn’t be on his 4th team in 6 years. But I’m done with you Baker fan boys you don’t look at facts and next year you guys will blame everyone else but him when he sucks. Just like no one talks about how he choked against the Lions. He’s a one read quarterback and this is his best season in his career middle of the pack . Lol 🤣🤣 but I get it you guys settled for mediocrey and I don’t so ain’t nothing else to talk about . Lol 🤣🤣 I can’t wait until the season starts!!

  84. Gipper Says:

    Oneilbuc,

Your credibility is in shambles. Don’t write about mediocrity unless you know how to spell it.

  85. Watzz Says:

Looking forward to it! Lets go bucs!!
