Revival Day For Receiver Rachaad White?

January 21st, 2024

Rachaad White has 24 catches in his last eight games for a 198 yards. That’s not exactly the stat line of super dangerous guy out of the backfield.

White had special moments during that stretch, but there is no denying that he’s cooled off as a focus of the Bucs’ passing game. Less targets, less production.

Why?

Joe doesn’t have an exact answer. The truth resides in the film, Baker Mayfield’s head and the priorities of playcaller Dave Canales.

Joe is not going to start saying, ‘Well, teams are doubling Mike Evans and Chris Godwin and assigning a guy to White.’ The defensive numbers don’t add up. Plus, White catches a hearty chunk of his passes behind the line of scrimmage.

If the Bucs are going to win today in Detroit, Joe thinks White must be revived as a passing game weapon. White (or Chase Edmonds) racking up six catches for 60 yards and a touchdown out of the backfield is probably a prerequisite to victory.

100% agree Joe, hopefully Dave Canales doesn’t waste any first or second downs running between the tackles

The time has arrived, it’s now judgement day,
The Bucs in Detroit, it’s finally game day

He had happy feet, and at times he would fidget,
Now moving ahead is one six foot midget

The ground it was slippery, the down 4th & 1,
Instead of the field goal, Lafleur chose to run

No home playoff for Bucs, that’s truly a shame,
If the Bucs win today, San Frans their next game.

The Lions seem ready, Baker must hustle,
He is sort of doughy, he ain’t got much muscle

For those that thought Love, would pull it off,
He’s still not quite there, like Jared Goff

Let’s see what Todd Bowles, has up his sleeve,
If they play like the Saints game, you’ll all want to heave

So good luck to the Bucs, in their pants they’re a crappin
No underdog has won yet, anything can happen

So let’s hope that the players are restes and well fed,
And none have booked Momday tee times at Copperhead

If Belichick goes to Atlanta, the South he’ll Enhance,
Bucs better win now, it maybe their last chance

Yep. Wouldn’t mind seeing short passes to the speed receivers too.

When the qb holds on to the ball too long and at times ignores White looking for a play down field this is what happens. I’m not completely dogging Mayfield for that because his job is to get the ball to the best receiver but at times he has to forget what he wants and go with what the defense leaves him, an outlet rb in the flat. 4-5 yards to White is better than a forced incompletion down field and much greater than an interception. Cornales HAS to go back to the Packer and Jaguars games and see what allowed White to be so effective and then translate that to this game.

Ha Ha NE Fan quite quaint and funny. Wasn’t going to read it at first but glad I did. 👍

    Go BUCS!!!! LFG!!!!!

Belicheat won’t enhance the NFC South. He’s getting very long in the tooth and brain. Hope A. Blank realizes it. Go Bucs, FWIW!!!!!

“Belicheat won’t enhance the NFC South.”

BINGO!!! BB never enhanced the AFC East. He failed in Cleveland…goes to NE and posts a losing record 4 years after the franchise was in the SB and THEN..
He LUCKS into the GOAT at QB in the sixth round. He can’t take any credit for that pick nor can any of the other moron GM’s that year who overlooked Brady.

Brady leaves and Bill reverts to his losing ways! AGAIN…BB without Brady has a win % of .420 the same as Bowles career % at the start of this season.

I’d LOVE for BB to go to the Falcons. Harbaugh scares me the most but he’s probably going to LA…Moncken is also scary…not only talented but he knows the Bucs already. I do not want Moncken in the Division. Perhaps Tepper would handicap him too much if he goes to Carolina but Atlanta or N.O. would become instantly better.

Just means they’re not dumping off the ball as much – and they’ve been running more because they’ve had a lead.

If White doesn’t have a bunch of catches today it’s likely a good thing since it means the Bucs are probably winning.

  10. Bucs'n'Bucks Says:

    Good point Rod.

Also, when White was being used the most, everyone was complaining about Mayfield not throwing down the field and using his check downs. Now that it’s reversed, there’s just no pleasing some on here.

    Go Bucs!!

  11. lanshark Says:

It’s true that Baker sometimes holds the ball too long trying to make a play downfield. He has a LOT of confidence, and often does make exceptional plays.

I do wish he would just dump off to White at times. But, of course, many of the “fine people” on this board who had designated him “Capt Checkdown” and criticized him for not pushing the ball down the field are the very people now complaining that he won’t take the checkdown.

Its a fine line, and he seems to be figuring it out, though there are still times he needs to throw it away.
