NFC South Champions!

January 7th, 2024

Back in August, who woulda thunk this?

The Bucs are division champs. The Bucs are division champs. The Bucs are division champs. Joe didn’t hear Gene Deckerhoff holler that on the Buccaneers Radio Network but it’s a good bet that’s what he said.

So the Bucs will host a playoff game next week. The NFL will announce the dates and kickoff times for the games toward the end of Sunday Night Football this evening.

Now Joe doesn’t know who the Bucs will play quite yet but it will be an NFC East wild card team. What Joe will guess is that the Bucs will host another primetime playoff game, maybe even a Monday night game like last year.

BSPN and NBC absolutely slobber over themselves with the NFC East. And let’s be real, those teams –Eagles or Cowboys — draw eyeballs, lots of them.

And in the television world, eyeballs = moolah. Big money.

So Joe predicts that given how much networks covet the audiences that Dallas and Philadelphia draw, it’s a better than 50/50 shot the Bucs will host a night playoff game.

Simply an educated guess by Joe.

  3. Jack Clark Says:

Feels good being the champs and making Cameron Jordan eat his words talking about we’re gonna go back to being the same old bucs without Tom Brady! 🥳

  4. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    ……Joe

That’s two straight awful games these Bucs put together…..

They’ll get beat badly by either the Cowboys or the Eagles….

    We all know this already.

  5. adam from ny Says:

    lame game…

    but a W is a W…

    just ask jameis

  6. realistic-optimistic Says:

@adam, tough or stupid? If he was so hurt, sit down. He definitely hurt the team today. No doubt about it.

  7. Zzbucs Says:

    Congrats!!
I don’t care How ugly it was!!
Nobody gave a dime on the Bucs, jouurnalists, even Bucs fans.
4mm QB, no free agency additions, 1 time OC.

And they did it despiste stupid predictable and negative fans.
    Way better than expectore season.

Some many guys here at JBF should shut up!!

  8. Casual Observer Says:

Solid win to clinch. Charlotte was playing their asses off. But our Bucs D was too much. Our O was banged up. Nice win.

  9. Rusty Shackleford Says:

@Dewey: The home game in 1994 against the Colts ended around 3:40, so it’s close.

  10. Proudbucsfan Says:

RW missed 1000 by 10 yards 990 that stinks. Cris Godwin got his 1,028

  11. Mike C Says:

Winfield is a @$#%&*^/ super hero!!!!

  12. nick houllis Says:

back in the 70s, I remember how Vikings won something like 10 NFC Central division championships in a row, and in 79 Bucs won it. I always wanted the Bucs to be a team that can win a bunch in a row. im so glad I lived long enough to see Bucs win 3 division championships in a row. I don’t care what division, or how.

Guys, remember 2018 and another losing season, a decade of not making playoffs, and now we’ve made playoffs 4 years in a row.

80million in dead cap space, but we did it. and next year we WILL be better. AND BACK

  13. NJbucs23 Says:

I never been so blah on a win and a division crown. Game was crap. Over at what 3:30pm? Put us on peacock

  14. heyjude Says:

    This is exciting!

  15. HC Grover Says:

I did not think they could do it but they did somehow. Congrats to all the Bucs even the coaches. Enjoy the week and the Hype.

  16. Rusty Shackleford Says:

Lol at the Jags. The media darling chokes.

  17. Buc4evr Says:

Congrats to the Bucs! Canales better get his play calling straight because both Philly and Dallas have solid lines.

  18. HC Grover Says:

Sorry bout that Staink Fans!! Heh Heh

  19. realistic-optimistic Says:

I’m not impressed by his “toughness.” Dude, move the chains. Keep moving the chains. Score points. If you’re not able to do that then sit on the bench and let somebody else do it. Machismo doesn’t win games. Both he and Bowles knew he wasn’t able to hit all the throws. There’s no way they didn’t know. Starting him was coaching malpractice. Keeping him in the game should get Bowles fired. Playing hurt and hurting the team is exactly what he did in CLE.

  20. Miller5252 Says:

Today’s win was just horrible. This team is back playing like when they were losing 6 out of 7 games. If Mayfield is still hurt next week and this is the best he can do, put Trask in. Mayfield looked god awful today. Lucky Carolina is an absolutely horrible team or we would have lost. No way we win next week if this is the best we got

  21. Rod Munch Says:

    I’m glad to be wrong.

Congrats to Todd Bowles! He earned his right to return next year.

  22. la48 Says:

How much does this kill our draft position?

  23. Rusty Shackleford Says:

Imagine being Jag fans right now, lol. So cocky the entire year until the past month.

  24. Buc4evr Says:

Congrats to JTS! He finally made a play when it counted.

  25. HC Grover Says:

If Hawks and Pack lose could it be Stainks?

  26. Rusty Shackleford Says:

Bills and Steelers in the playoffs. Unreal for the Steelers. A few weeks ago they were dead. Now they are alive.

  27. Rusty Shackleford Says:

Bills and Steelers in the playoffs. Unreal for the Steelers. A few weeks ago they were down and out. Now they are alive.

  28. adam from ny Says:

they should have let white run the ball in…

    get his 1000 yards…

and win 16-0 so there’s a feeling of some real scoring, going into the home playoff game…

    #WayToGoDefense

hopefully they’re saving up all their scoring the past couple of weeks ———> for next week

  29. Rusty Shackleford Says:

Bills and Steelers in the playoffs. Unreal for the Steelers. A few weeks ago they were down and out. Now they are playing in the postseason.

  31. Zwak Says:

Three field goals against a team that only won two games all year! Yet they will bring Todd Bowels back next year!

  32. Rusty Shackleford Says:

Buffalo and Pittsburgh in the playoffs.

  33. Rusty Shackleford Says:

Remember when it was such a big deal when we won the 1999 NFC Central ?

  34. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Two very good teams ^^^^^

  35. TheBucsAnthem Says:

I miss the “battle of the bays” and Sapp Vs Farve games 🎮…….good times!!!!

  36. Thomas Edrington Says:

Impressive offensive showing against one of the NFL’s premier teams……

  37. stpetebucfan Says:

This was a particularly enjoyable game for me. In addition to keeping the run of NFC South Championships I knew the same crowd of butt hurt snowflakes who have dissed the Bucs from the beginning and Baker in particular. I KNEW that these “Buc “fans” would concentrate more on Mayfield’s struggles than McLaughlin’s heroics. I love watching them grasp for some form of meaning!!

FACTS!!! The Bucs had to replace the GOAT at the most important position on the team. The Bucs had to deal with 80 million SPENT $$$…well spent for a SB but SPENT none the less…as in NOT AVAILABLE FOR LICHT THIS YEAR!

S.I.’s annual pre season edition called for the Bucs to win 2 games. More impressive is the “smart money” in Vegas had them at 6.5. They won freaking NINE!!! That’s 30% MORE THAN THE SMART MONEY FORECAST. THAT is truly impressive!!!

Don’t worry whiners. You have all of next week to point out how the Bucs have NO chance in the playoffs. And should the Bucs win you’ll find some other lame excuse to prove the Bucs are lucky losers.

  38. Buddha Says:

Predicted to win 4-6 games, the Tampa won 9. Well done!

  39. orlbucfan Says:

Pittsburgh beat Ravens in Baltimore? Aren’t the Ravens the AFC Darlings? That weather was nasty, but you could see the worldwide climate change. 50 Years ago, they would have played in a snowstorm. Who won?

  40. orlbucfan Says:

st.pete, I just don’t feel as ecstatic as you do. Playing a QB who was badly injured is wrong. BM was loaded up on some heavy duty meds. Plus, NC quit.

RW missed 1000 by 10 yards 990 that stinks.

    ——-

That should teach him to stop taking a knee when he has a wide open field and a TD in front of him.

If you’re going to do that, at least take it to the 1 yard line.

  42. Zzbucs Says:

    @stpetebucfan….

    Well said my men.

    Some Bucs should quit smoking!!

  43. RGA Says:

The Bucs beat one team with a winning record that’s the 9-8 Jaguars. Let’s not carried away.

  44. Bosch Says:

This was the most embarrassing win I have ever seen.

  45. Tbbucs3 Says:

    24-0 Giants beating Eagles.

Who says the Bucs cant beat Philly???

  46. unbelievable Says:

@Dewey – yea I said to my wife that was the fastest NFL game I’ve ever seen. Crazy.

Well, the good news is that the Eagles look even more broken than us, so maybe just maybe we have a chance.

  47. unbelievable Says:

Orlbucfan – Ravens rested a Bunch of starters, including Lamar Jackson.

Not a great game to conclude anything from

Hey, I’ve got to hand it to you, man; you’re not just all talk. You’ve got the guts to own up when you’re wrong. Something you don’t see often around these parts.
