I may get skewered for suggesting this after we just went to the playoffs, but I think a coaching change is deserved.

If Dave Canales leaves for the Panthers, we are left with the same coach that made a horrible, game deciding decision in the payoffs against the Rams. And this week, with 30 seconds left to fight for a win, he left a timeout on the board to walk onto the field and congratulate the other team. WHAT? How do you maintain respect of the locker room and set a winning culture when you are a throw in the towel guy?

The offense is what was good about the Bucs in the final game, but the Defense didn’t adapt. Truth be told, if the Bucs were in any other division, we wouldn’t have been in the playoffs. We had the same record as the 4th in the division Bengals, so I find it hard to praise Bowles for an amazing job. Give the praise to Mayfield, Winfield and a few others that made the difference between a winning and losing record. It was a fine line there.

So my thoughts are, if Canales is offered the Panthers job, we should offer our HC job to him, fire Bowles and bring on Ron Rivera as DC. If Canales takes the Panthers HC job, fire Bowles and hire Vrable as our HC…

Vrable has the passion and experience winning as a HC to motivate the team. Bowles could barely deliver a winning record with Brady as his QB, and delivered the same results this year. Can he be an OK coach…maybe…but eventually we will have to fire him in order to take the team to the next level. That is all.

We had a good year. If we make the right off season moves next season could be really exciting. Overpaid Dean is soft.

  3. Bucfan Says:

Evidently the Glazers’s are content with tv revenues only. Keeping Bowels as head coach will NOT sell many new season tickets.

Gnick are you kidding me ?

Can we stop with the timeout. The Bucs weren’t coming back. This society we live in today and constant complaining is nauseating.

  6. SteveK Says:

My coach “loafed” by not calling a timeout then and all year.
