Injuries Strike Bucs’ Edge Rushers

January 17th, 2024

The first official Bucs injury report for this week is out and YaYa Diaby (shoulder) and Bucs sacks king Shaq Barrett (ankle) showed up with new injuries.

Neither participated in practice today. They were joined by Chase Edmonds and his new toe injury, and Chris Godwin got what appeared to be a rest day for his banged up knee.

Baker Mayfield was full-go in practice but is listed on the report for his healing ribs/ankle.

To quote the great Knute Rockne…wait, never mind. Hope they are good to go this weekend!

  2. Edward Kerber Says:

Let’s get Playoff Lenny back for the playoffs.

  3. SlyPirate Says:

Amon-Ra vs Evans Decides the Game

In game 1 vs Bucs, Amon-Ra went for 124. Evans had multiple HUGE drops, ultimately catching 4 of 10 targets. Evans sucked last game. He needs to be a playmaker against Detroit. Dean played great against Philly (d-player of the game). He needs to have another solid performance.

  4. HC Grover Says:

    Plan 9 to the rescue.

  5. Mike Johnson Says:

if you can guys, And I’m sure you will..suck it up guys. Follow Bakers lead.

  6. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

Yes to signing Lenny. Buffalo just released him after jerkin the mans gerkin this year. I would love to see a Lenny sighting at Buc place.

  7. A Bucs Fan Says:

Diaby and CG went back in and played well. Shaq would be the only real concern. In any case it’s a short week so the best cause is it’s just an extra day of rest and they’ll be limited tomorrow.

No way they don’t all play Sunday.

  8. Trask Cult Leader Says:

Yaya is the 2nd coming of JPP. Not worried about him

  9. Pick6 Says:

they finished the game, so i’m guessing that this is just about giving them some extra recovery. The Lions will make this a super physical game

  10. Boss Says:

    they good!

I just want the same fire out of the gate and the ability to overcome being down a score or a turnover.

Keep pushing. (as long as BM is on target)

I swear BM must have an angel on his shoulder because he throws multiple should be picks EVERY game I see.

  11. Tbbucs3 Says:

Need to get these edge rushers fully healthy cause Jared Goff is an excellent QB with a clean pocket and he has picked the Bucs apart in the past.

Need Shaq Barrett to prove he’s still got something left in the tank.

  12. Pewter power Says:

Toe injury is not good for a guy like chase so uh Sean Tucker have you learned how to pass block yet?

  13. Cobraboy Says:

I don’t recall Diaby or Kancey playing against the Lions.

Those two could make a big difference.

  14. J Says:

    Live in the cryochamber YaYa.

  15. J Says:

Kancey got his first sack in week 6, which was his first game back. I wasn’t sure, had to look it up last night.

LVD and Tryon had a sack as well.

After rewatching the game last night it was clear that we were not out of it.

Lions were missing Gibbs and Branch so that will need to be accounted for, but we’re a different team, too. A lot has changed for the Bucs, more so than the Lions, imo.

  16. dmatt Says:

    Cobraboy,
They both played. Kancey had a sack n tfl. Two players I noticed didn’t play much against the eagles were Delaney n Neal. Both are poor tacklers. Neal allowed a long td pass in last meeting against the Lions. He is awful in coverage.

  17. Saskbucs Says:

J … I would guess that’s why Durham could see a couple targets this week, quite a size advantage over Branch if they can get that matchup. That game, as bad as the Bucs were with penalties and execution came down to like 3 plays and was a 21 point swing. Lions fans think Gibbs and Montgomery missing most of that game means something. Montgomery and Reynolds had 29 yards on 15 carries! Gibbs has a more of a problem forsure and St.Brown is a huge problem.

They need to focus on stopping the RBs again, double St.Brown and drop coverage into the middle of the field force Goff to throw it outside. Rams took away Brown early and Josh Reynolds killed them over the middle. They adjusted and St.Brown started to kill them.

Cobra or one of you football people can educate me here.

To my laymen’s eyes DW45 seems to get lost in space and faked out by even 2nd string QB’s and his coverage skills are also suspect.

His speed is not suspect however and he seems great when he’s on a simple mission like get the QB.

Is it possible with Britt playing as well as he is that DW45 might play more OLB as a pass rusher to spell Shaq.

Is it also possible that DW45 would actually thrive if expected to do what Shaq has done for the Bucs?

  19. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

Must have playoff sub-zero sack dance

  20. Jmarkbuc Says:

    SPBF

Just posted that same exact sentiment on the McCollum post.

    Great minds..

  21. Brandon Says:

Lenny fans need to go away. Dude was average his entire career. You are the same dopes that clamored for Sherman, Julio, Bernard, Antonio Brown, Rudolph, and pretty much every washed up and overrated player available… and they did nothing but hold us back. Fournette had a good playoffs and one good week one game in 2022 and that wss it. Too slow, not quick, doesn’t run with balance, legs stop moving on contact… he’s literally the worst RB1 we’ve had in Tampa since BEFORE LaGarrette Blount emerged in 2010. You guys are clueless.

  22. Drunkinybor Says:

I forgot Shaq was 9n the team. I expect a big game out of him. I just have a feeling 🎶 🎵

  23. Drunkinybor Says:

@Brandon Brown helped win a superbowl. But I agree on the rest.

  24. tbc 1 Says:

Patrick Laird should be brought up and played-McCafferty look alike with the same toughness

  25. Zoocomics Says:

@Pick6… they finished the game? I don’t know what it is about this season, but we’ve had several players finish games and were out the following week. It’s remarkable. D.White, Vea, Davis, just to name 3 of them.

That being said, every game for these banged up Bucs at this point could be the last of the season, so I expect they’ll be fine and they’re simply resting.

  26. Lord Cornelius Says:

Yaya has been playing so well. The guy just looks so physically imposing out there.

I’m sure both will play – hopefully the injuries are not too bad – lets go get this W!

  27. ShindlersLisp Says:

@love and Warrick Dunn- nice handle! Best one I’ve seen on here and yes gimme the sub-zero about 4 times sunday… Goff sucks under pressure
And what happened to all the Trask fans clamoring? I figured since we’re playing in a dome yall’d be all over this game – his fair skin must be better suited for indoor activities right? I remember a September game in the retention pond in Gainesville where his poor freckles had swollen to the size of dimes from the sun exposure… Mayfield is melanoma-proof – point being baker is one of the toughest sobs out there and your an idiot if you still don’t want him starting
    Go bucs!
