“We’re Going To Have A Great Time Up There”

January 18th, 2024

A theme is running through One Buc Palace and Antoine Winfield, Jr., who isn’t known for hype and hyperbole.

Sometimes teams take slogans or nicknames and run with them to the point that the one-liner has a real effect.

“The Race To 10” comes to mind from the Bucs’ 10-win season in 2010. “The Gravediggers” moniker for the Bucs’ secondary meant a lot to the unit back in the Super Bowl season of 2020.

There are many examples across sports from various perspectives. Bucco Bruce Arians captured some of that magic with his “No Risk It, No Biscuit.”

Listening to Bucs players this week, more than one has mentioned “The Revenge Tour,” as in ‘we were beaten this season by the Eagles, Lions and 49ers, and that’s the order of how we want to knock them off to reach the Super Bowl.’

All-Pro Bucs safety Antoine Winfield Jr. is known for a very level-headed presence with media and for never saying anything remotely controversial. But even Winfield jumped on the hype in a postgame interview with CBS following the blowout of the Eagles on Monday.

He was asked about heading to Detroit to try and slow the Lions’ high-octane offense.

“On The Revenge Tour,” Winfield replied with great energy. “These teams that’s ahead of us, they all beat us in the regular season, so we’re going to have a great time up there.”

Let the party begin!

You learn more in defeat than you do in victory, we saw that in 2020. Hopefully it’ll continue in 2023

Zion needs to play FS full time.

6-2. 4.35 speed. Great tackler. Shut down CB skills.

Zion and Antoine? Has a nice ring to it.

Neal needs to stay on the bench. He’s slow.

Merriweather also has a lot of potential. I can see it.

  10. Jack Clark Says:

That’s one of our biggest advantages we have in the playoffs this year. We lost to all the teams we have to play in the regular season and have experience playing against them so our team wants revenge and is more motivated to win while the other teams underestimate us.

  11. HC Grover Says:

Gotta get the jump on them. Out of the box.

Let’s not forget the funniest moniker…..”America’s Quarterback, Mr. Entertainment, Jameis Winston”

It won’t be easy!! But no one said it would be!!! LFG!!!

  14. Marine Buc Says:

How much is it going to take to re-sign Winfield this off-season?

He is our best defensive player.

    I’m thinking 4 yrs $72M with $45M guaranteed…

Sportrac has his value set at $18.4M per season. 5 yr deal worth $92.3M.

And some of you want to pay Baker Mayfield $45M per season?

    HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

  15. stpetebucfan Says:

Timing is everything. The Bucs seem to be putting it together at just the right time! But so do the Lions. Very similar…Goff started well…slumped..and finished well. The Lions are READY! But so are the Bucs!! Campbell is a very smart young coach. He KNOWS he’s catching the Bucs at the wrong time from the Lion’s perspective. He’ll have his team ready.

I’m hoping for a great game that doesn’t embarrass any players or team with Baker leading the Bucs on a last minute drive that gets the Bucs to the 50 with McLaughlin kicking an incredible game winning 60+ yard FG. No shame for anybody I feel for the Lions fans…I feel for them but I just can’t quite get there.

    Kick the game winner Chase!

  16. Marky Mark Says:

The revenge tour includes Buffalo or Houston in Vegas.

  17. adam from ny Says:

it truly is the revenge tour…

and if they beat the lions and jared grief…

then most likely it’s the niners next…

and i do see the bills getting past the chiets this year – the chiefs are just off this year with all the taylor swift shenannies

  18. adam from ny Says:

by the way the qb of lions has multiple choice options for his name:

    it’s either:

    jared goof
    jared gaffe
    or
    jared grief

    you choice………….we have options! 🙂

  19. Defense Rules Says:

Marine Buc … ‘And some of you want to pay Baker Mayfield $45M per season? HAHAHAHAHA!!!!’

No taunting Marine. They’ll figure out soon enough that it all comes down in the final analysis to PRIORITIES because we can’t afford the Freightliner, the Ferrari, the Corvette AND a Maybach all at the same time.

  20. Marine Buc Says:

    @ DR

    Sorry.

    I couldn’t help it…

  21. Sheen Says:

These guys’ seasons aren’t even done yet…their play NOW continues to negotiate their contract for next season and beyond.

    Here’s to a WIN WIN

  23. Jmarkbuc Says:

Gravediggers was and is a silly name.

Especially for our not so stellar secondary.

  24. SB Says:

    LLLLLLLLLLLLLFFFFFFFFGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!

  25. SB Says:

    @SteelStudBuc

    Confucious was a wise man.

  26. Ugotrobbed Says:

Let’s see it!! Don’t want to hear it! Let’s see it!!
    GO BUCS!!

  27. Tom M Sumner Says:

The Revenge tour….Beat the Lions, sf/gb, beef aloo.. bank it $

  28. Defense Rules Says:

Looking back at the Eagles’ game stats, Bucs had over a dozen ‘BIG PLAYS’ on offense & just as many on defense. (I look at a ‘big play’ on offense as any play that gains 10 yards or more).

Bucs had 2 rushes in the 1st half gaining over 10 yds, plus 6 passes that gained over 10 yds. Also had 1 run in the 2nd half over 10 yds, plus 5 passes over that. That’s 14 BIG PLAYS (3 rushes; 11 passes) right there, definitely more than we usually have in games. All but 1 of those big plays figured in our 6 scoring drives (3 TDs & 3 FGs). Impressive.

Something else that was cool is that Baker was 5-for-9 on deep passes, for 104 yds on those. That’s impressive too.

  29. garro Says:

    The Revenge Tour!

I like that a lot better than “the grave digger” thing.

BTW the row boat thing is way past old fellas. I’m sure the Swashbucklers have a choreographer who could come up with something for y’all. Just saying…

    Go Bucs!
