Conspiracy Theorists Unite For Eagles-Bucs Monday Night Football Game

January 8th, 2024

No conspiracy with Monday Night Football.

For the second year in a row, the Bucs will host a Monday Night Football game to open the playoffs. In fact, once the game kicks off, no other team in NFL history will have hosted a playoff game held on Monday night more than the Bucs.

The Bucs’ first postseason Monday Night Football game for was last year, at The Licht House.

Just like last year, the Bucs will host an NFC East team. Boy, do TV networks love NFC East teams.

As soon as news came from Jeff Kerr of CBS (who covers the Eagles) and Adam Schefter of BSPN the Monday night game would be Eagles-Bucs, the conspiracy theorists came out of the woodwork.

You would have thought Bucs fans turned into Hollywood big-shot Rob Reiner, who currently has a series of podcasts out about the JFK assassination. He seems to have half the country working for the CIA as operatives. Paranoid, much?

The second the schedule was released folks thought BSPN/NFL strongman Roger set it up that Philly would get an extra day of rest so injured Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown might play.

Joe thinks that’s over the top. The NFL and BSPN crave NFC East teams. They bring many, many eyeballs to the TV screen/tablet/laptop/phone (?). That means big-time cash.

Joe Twittered yesterday stating the Bucs likely would get a primetime game because they were facing an NFC East team. Eyeballs drive the NFL bus. And the way Joe looks at it, if the NFL wants to get Hurts and Brown ready for the playoffs, well, Baker Mayfield and Lavonte David could use an extra day of rest, too.

For those who still believe this is the NFL’s version of the grassy knoll, it could have been worse for Bucs fans.

The Eagles and Bucs could have been locked by Goodell and his stooges behind a paywall at Peacock like the Chiefs game is on Saturday night.

    That is all iggles!

  2. MadMax Says:

And the guy i work beside is such an iggle fan…..i just keep it to myself

  3. Hodad Says:

They can suck my Peacock Joe. I’m so glad the Bucs weren’t put on Saturday night, I’m not caving to their hostage demands. I steal Amazon, if I didn’t, I wouldn’t get it just for Thursday night football. And I ain’t signing up for no Peacock even to watch the Bucs, I’d rather listen to Gene on the radio. Keep it up Rodger, soon no one will bother with this crap.

Another conspiracy which I kind of agree with is Philly lost to the Giants on purpose to play us in Tampa. How do we do under the bright lights of national coverage and at home? That right there is more than enough to tell you what the outcome will be, but pile on the fact our HC and OC are clueless on how to prepare the Bucs to be competitive, the weakest o line and an inconsistent qb with accuracy issues against good defensive play and that’s all you need to know what the outcome SHOULD be like.

  5. SufferingSince76 Says:

I dislike night games because I don’t like having to wait that long for the game. My angst is ridiculous.

  6. PanhandleBuc Says:

It’s the least compelling matchup, yet it’s saved for last?! I am not a conspiracy theorist, but it sure feels like and an extra day of rest to me…

  7. Leighroy Says:

I’m thrilled. I’ve got Nate Bargatze tickets Sunday night, so this is a dream scenario to not have a conflict.

  8. BucsFan01 Says:

Our guys get rest too… Go Bucs!

  9. Greg Says:

Morons…anyone who thinks that there is some conspiracy theory is a moron. Last time I checked, our QB was hobbling around like an 80 year old man. The game is when the game is. STFU and play. So many of the people on these boards are insecure babies.

  10. Cobraboy Says:

Bucs and Mayfield get an extra day, too. That knife has two edges.

  11. Jecir Says:

I thought the Rams played the first MNF playoff game in 21-22 season? The patter I see is that all 3 MNF playoffs games featured the 4-5 matchup from NFC. Coincidence or pattern?

  12. ModHairKen Says:

Philly lost on purpose to get a road playoff game? The NFL is pulling for the Eagles? Only Hurts gets an extra day to recover?

Step away from the keyboard, losers. What next, citing us Trask’s college stats again?

  13. johnnymoon Says:

I thought it would be Dall/GB or Buff/ Miami on MNF …It is odd .

  14. FLBirdsFan Says:

Dallas held the cards for who the Bucs would play since they won the tie breaker, nothing to do with Eagles/Giants loss. Bucs should be thankful the Cowgirls aren’t coming to Tampa.

  15. Razor Ramone Says:

Figured Dallas on Monday night for sure.

  16. Alanbucsfan Says:

Rob Reiner is most likely a CIA asset.
Beat the Eagles and root for Rams and Packers

  17. BucfaninMi Says:

I was positive we’d get Sunday at 1

  18. infomeplease Says:

I hope TP10 takes the extra day and works hard on the jugs machine!! He needs to step up!

  19. Joe Says:

Rob Reiner is most likely a CIA asset.

LOL! That JFK podcast of his is wild. It’s like an audio version of a season of 24. Everybody is linked up with the CIA.

  20. Joe Says:

I was positive we’d get Sunday at 1

That would have been a shocker.

  21. gofortheface30 Says:

If it was based on how exciting of a watch the Bucs are, combined with Philly’s pathetic freefall and their own offensive issues, then the game is more worthy of a Tuesday at 3pm time slot if it was even possible. Rams/Lions is infinitely the better game. Im no commie, but no one said capitalism is fair either. Marvel Movies make money had over fist, doesn’t mean they aren’t complete garbage trash movies. Doesnt matter if the product is awful if it makes money. Give people what they want, but you know – sometimes people simply dont know whats best.

  22. Jeff Says:

This makes no sense. The Monday game hurts the winner as they have less time to prepare and rest for the following week. Eagles and Bucs are both sucking it up big time and unlikely to represent the NFC in the SB. Also, the Yucs are one of the least popular franchises in the NFL. With no Tom Brady, this is actually a boring game for the fans. The NFL bumped the trash matchup to Monday as to not taint the compelling Sat/Sun lineup of games. If the Yucs were playing Dallas then I would agree this was for additional eyes on the TV. The Eagles are not the Cowboys.

  23. Joshua porter Says:

Let’s just hope that Devin white can show up and ball out cuz if he don’t bucs won’t win. He said we will see them again well d .white now u have the eagles make up for the sucking all season by balling out in playoffs . Go bucs

  24. BucBaker Says:

That Rob Reiner podcast is BRILLIANT.

  25. orlbucfan Says:

CIA has pulled plenty of dirty ops over the decades. Back to football. Not sure if I’ll listen to this one as it’s a late nighter which I hate. I can always check the accolades (I hope) or obituaries the next day. Go Bucs!!

  26. No Mercy Says:

Screw the narratives just go out and win on Monday night. Don’t let those nasty tush pushers make it to the next round. Nobody wants to watch that

  27. Zoocomics Says:

I agree with the article, our guys are going to need that extra day imo.

  28. unbelievable Says:

We need the rest just as much as they do. Baker couldn’t throw yesterday.

Only reason I’m bummed about the Monday night game is that we’ve been awful in prime time recently. Really sick of watching this team come out soft and flat, so maybe Bowles will finally figure out a way to motivate them.

  29. Buchead Says:

Um, whoever wins Monday has 1 day less to prepare for the next round, so…

  30. The Daily Coroner Says:

    That photo is NOT funny!

  31. SlyPirate Says:

    JOE: ARTICLE REQUEST

Please document Bowles success in meaningful games. I’ll get you started …
    2024: 1 win against +.500 team (Jacksonville – Not a playoff team)
    W3: Crushed by Philly MNF
W6: Crushed by Detroit Prime Time
W7: Loss to Atlanta for division lead
W17: Loss to Saints for NFCS
W18: Narrow win to worst team in the NFL

2023 Playoffs: Blown out by Cowboys. Game over at halftime (18-0)

I love my Bucs but everything points to an embarrassing loss on Monday. Bowles cannot win big games. 31-13 Eagles

  32. Fred Says:

    Bowles gone yet?

  33. Chris O Says:

MNF is a death sentence for us ugh lol

  34. Citrus County Says:

Please don’t get me going on this one.

  35. Bug Doc Says:

The ultimate conspiracy theory is Baker vs the Browns in the Super Bowl!
