Bucs 9, Panthers 0; Tampa Bay Wins NFC South!

The Bucs may not look like champions, but they absolutely are champions.
It’s official. At 9-8, Tampa Bay is the NFC South winner for the third consecutive year.
It was ugly today. Very ugly. Antoine Winfield Jr. saved the day with a raw hustle forced fumble at the 1 yard line following an embarrassing loaf by cornerback Jamel Dean. What a play it was by Winfield, so similar to his won’t-quit strip of Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder earlier this season.
Obviously, the Bucs defense was stout. A shutout is a shutout, even against a miserable two-win Panthers offense that was shut out last week. Hey, in late December, that same Panthers offense put up 30 points on Green Bay.
Hats off to Todd Bowles, YaYa Diaby, Lavonte David, Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, Winfield and friends for their showing.
On offense, well, Joe wants to puke. The Bucs are sure to talk about how Baker Mayfield was injured, but Joe would counter that he shouldn’t have been on the field, or that Dave Canales should have adjusted for Mayfield’s limitations. And the latter did happen a bit.
Regardless, it’s all history now. Bring on the Eagles (or the Cowboys) next weekend in the playoffs.

He should get credit for what he did, since during that losing streak, he FINALLY made some changes on defense and went away from the garbage zone and went back to a defense much closer to what they ran in 2020.

Iām glad we won the division for the 3rd time in a row. Weāve never done that before. The way the Bucs have played the past 2 weeks is unacceptable. If we play like that next week whatās the point of making the playoffs. The fans hollering about how we poor baker n the offense played today are just being realistic. if the score should’ve been 17-9 panthers then you’re certainly not saying the bucs should be 8-9 because there were games the bucs could’ve won just like the panthers could’ve won this o e. So if the score could’ve been 17-9 panthers, what could the season record be? 9-8? 10-7? 8-9? 7-10?

Step 1 accomplished!
Now let’s see of we can put it together now that it’s play-off time. This team’s biggest weakness has been inconsistent play- hopefully we can start cleaning that up immediately.
We were ‘expected’ by many to finish the season with 3 wins- but instead we improved from last season and won the division again. Overall, I’m feeling positive about the team going forward. A lot of work to be done, obviously, but things are trending up if we continue to improve. LETS F’N GO BUCS!

What’s with all the crazy people? We WON the division!!! Yet, I see ppl saying fire Bowles? They obviously aren’t Bucs fans. He’s kept this team together through tough times when other coaches mightve seen their players throw in the towel or check out- that’s a testament to the coach. This team has lost so many players in the last couple seasons and they’re still paying half of them- they had no money in cap space but they found a QB to get ME and CG the ball (both w/ 1k seasons) they did what they had to do to win the division. That’s a good job. You have to imagine next season the can put some $ into the O-line and where we need on defense and the future looks bright.

I find the Baker bros faith in him to be quite disturbing. Dude sucks. He should not have played today, and if the Panthers held onto those 3 picks, we would have lost and been out of the playoffs. I’m happy we won and that we are in (I don’t root to lose), but this performance by our starting QB is just one of a long line of crap performances. He missed Evans on long pass plays twice. Missed Palmer on one. Then, on one of his near picks, he had Palmer racing wide open deep on the left side of the field, but, nah, let’s throw into coverage short of the down line. Who needs a wide open TD anyway, of course, assuming he could even hit that pass with his ribs.
The only good thing about the win today was that it was over in 2 and a half hours. The NFL clearly wanted that game to end as soon as possible.

I think maccafan was saying, for a 2-15 team the panthers have a surprising good defense. I believe they were 2nd all season in fewest yards allowed, and had the best pass defense in the league. How you go 2-15 with that, I don’t know.

Our only saving grace is that the Eagles look even worse than us right now, so we might actually have a chance. Then again, the Bucs are the team that historically every other team always āgets rightā againstā¦ so who knows.
I would love to celebrate right now, but barely beating the worst team in the league just doesnāt feel like a triumphant victory. A lot will depend on whether LVD, White, and Mayfield are actually healthy in another week, and more importantly- whether Todd Bowles and Dave Canales get actually pull the heads out of the rear ends with a competent game plan.

That QBR went down today.
For reference, Jameis Winston had a better QBR in 4 of his 5 years here.

Very much so, it’s pretty impressive season to do what they did this year.
It’s just hard to be in a good mood when the QB has looked this bad two weeks in a row, with everything on the line. Everyone knows a huge slapdown is coming next week unless Baker can turn things around.
If you want to be on #TEAMPOSITIVE you can say his two Fitzmagic like games this year, vs the Packers and Jags, came out of nowhere after he had been playing like trash for weeks – so it’s possible, out of the blue, he comes out next week and is on fire.
I honestly hope he does that, because there’s no fans, no people, no city that is worse than Philadelphia, and I want them to throw a fit and riot and loot and burn their s-hole city to the ground after losing in the 1st round of the playoffs.
But to do that, Baker has to show-up and play well, no excuses.

How does anyone hate a qb so much who comes in his first year and wins a division? Trask is nothing too special, weāve seen countless top ten pick QBs absolutely fail. Why so much certainty that Trask who did not come with that level of expectation would do better, what more could we ask for than a division title with Baker at the helm? We went from having the greatest football player of all time as our qb, and after he retired we improved our record. Iām just confused with the mindset of some of these fans. Need to either completely block you guys out or just let the team make a change regardless of outcome because I canāt stand the moaning anymore.

The NFC South wasn’t the joke of the league in those years. He was facing Brees, Ryan and Newton – and as stated many times, do the math and you’ll see the Bucs played the hardest schedule between 2015-2019, and had the worst defense in football over the span of 2015-2019, and also had the worst kicking game from 2015-2019.
Those are all facts. Literally the only thing good the Bucs had during those Winston years as on the offense, where they broke all the team records for passing and scoring (and no, Winston didn’t break the team record for INTs, sorry to burst your bubble).
QBR doesn’t let you artificially inflate your stats by making 1 yard passes to your RB on 3rd and 12 where they run for 8 yards and help your completion percentage and yards per pass numbers. QBR doesn’t care if you throw a hail mary INT on the last play of a half. QBR doesn’t give you credit for garbage time stats the same way the old QB rating system worked.
All of that is to say Baker was, at best, a mediocre QB in a bad year for QBs.
With that said, none of it matters if Baker goes out next week and in the biggest game of his career, has a big day and gets the W. If he does that, then he’ll be back. If he goes out and lays yet another egg, none amount of excuse making and whining about him being hurt is going to make any team give him a big deal.
It’s all up to him now, and I’m hoping he does well, I want the Eagles to embarrass the POS Eagle fans, who I hate even more than the Baker Bois.

Mayfield had a bad game and he’s hurting. True. I doubt he’s hurting as bad as Trevor Lawrence, Russell Wilson, Justin Herbert, Geno Smith and others who will be home WATCHING the playoffs next week!
Get a grip and enjoy the ride. We get the Eagles Monday night and they just got whupped by the Giants today. Anything is possible.

The only reason we are going to the playoffs is because the NFC South is a trash division and the Saints who got hot at the end, fell on the third tiebreaker. They have been better than the Bucs the last two weeks. All the coaches for the NFC South teams should get fired.
We are going to get beat in the playoffs by the Eagles and their trash defense. That is how bad Canales and his offense is. We won’t beat a stumbling Eagles team. If we had played any other NFC team in the playoffs, it would be a 30 point beat down.
