Report: Bucs Have New Full-Time Starter On Offense

November 8th, 2023

Promotion.

Joe wrote this Sunday night and will type it again.

Yes, Bucs misplaced slot receiver Rachaad White had an OK game running the ball. He had 73 yards on 20 carries for a 3.7 yards-a-carry average.

That’s just OK. Folks calling this “great” really need a cold shower. Calm down.

But the offense showed a pulse for a change Sunday in the galling loss to Houston. The offense was anything but smooth, but hey, the Bucs put up 37 points. So the offese wasn’t why the Bucs lost.

Perhaps in part because the Bucs looked like a competent offense, it appears a move has been made. Per J.C. Allen of SI.com, Aaron Stinnie, who filled in for Matt Feiler at left guard, will remain there as the Bucs’ starting left guard. Feiler injured his knee but remains on the active roster.

Joe shared general manager Jason Licht’s Sunday comments on Stinnie that implied he could become a full-time player.

After Stinnie first filled in for Feiler in Buffalo, you could tell the Bucs’ running game, worst in the NFL, seemed a notch improved.

After that game, Bucs coach Todd Bowles lauded Stinnie and his ability to run block.

Stinnie’s claim to fame before starting at Buffalo came in the 2020 playoffs when Stinnie took over for the injured Alex Cappa at right guard. Stinnie would go on to start the next three games, all wins, as the Bucs won the Super Bowl.

  1. Leopold Stotch Says:

Glad to see this, Joe. Happy for Stinnie and happy for the team as a whole. Also the coaching staff to not go with the status quo and sticking with the free agent signing.

  2. Fansince76 Says:

It is good that move was made!
The left side should now be very good with Wirfs and Stinnie.

  3. Lombardi Lenny Says:

What an absolute dumpster fire these coaches and players are.
This organization will continue to be a disgrace until Coach Constipated is FIRED

  4. rickym Says:

Stinnie is an upgrade at his position from Feiler. If not for injury, I’m sure the brilliant coaches at one buc place would still have Stinnie on the bench next to Nick Leverett. Just another example of what is wrong with this coaching staff. Stinnie should have been the starter at game one.

  5. K_bassuka Says:

Can’t run when your “best player QB” can’t connect on the long ball. Leaving countless of points off the board and allowing opposing defenses to load the box to stop the run.

  6. RagingBrisket Says:

Oline not being able to run block has torpedoed this season. Licht is responsible for that.

  7. Since76 Says:

Hmmm…. Coaching staff brought in a free agent and let him start. Coaches had a better player on the bench. I wonder if there is another player on offense who is better than the starter. One who played better than the starter in preseason. Hmmm. No these coaches don’t make mistakes.

  8. Lets bring the Hammer! Says:

Ok now let’s use Godwin in the game plan!

And Todd start talking to yourself. Tell the DC to let players do what they do best. And to please create a game plan accordingly. Smh

  9. William Walls Says:

I never understood why they brought Feiler in unless it was to bolster our o-line depth. Stinnie seemed the obvious choice to start, I thought. When the Bucs first made the off-season transaction, I thought, “Oh, I guess they know something about Feiler vs. Stinnie that I don’t.” Now, I don’t have a clue what they were thinking.

    ^^^^^

    Who’s Godwin? What’s a game plan?

  11. lambchop Says:

On the defensive front, if you have liabilities at safety and corner spots, I would avoid playing too much zone. This leaves too much decision making during a play on the players who are out there like a deer in headlights.

Does man make the situation better? Yes, except when you have a speedy deep threat like Tyreek. But, even better than man coverage would be some freaking pass rush. Did anyone on the DL make an impact at all?

Ryan Neal’s football IQ is in question. Dee Delaney shouldn’t even be out there unless he’s on ST. We are basically plugging holes with whatever is available. But, I guess this is the consequences of the Tom Brady years. Which I am ok with as long as we address this in the offseason.

This team is going to be one and done if it makes the playoffs. And Baker Mayfield is the least of the problems.

  12. dmatt Says:

Will someone please explain to me the reason these three players aren’t getting more playing time Cam Gil, Ya Ya or Markee Watts over JTS? In his third nfl season, what purpose does JTS serve? Or, what have he done for us lately. Every sack, tackle, or lucky int in his bread basket was given to him. He’s never made a spectacular play that gives him hope. I’ve been waiting three years to no avail. He is clueless n useless. Our coaches should be fired for using him to impersonate an nfl player.

  13. RagingBrisket Says:

Dmatt- Licht drafted him and made him a starter. Goes higher than the coaching. This roster overall is lousy except for a few starters.
    This is all on Licht.

Because once this HC puts someone into the starting lineup, it seems that only injury can change that decision. JTS is one example, Baker is another. Even though he played well on Sunday he should have been replaced a long time ago.

  15. Nprbuc Says:

Wow! The coaches may be wrong about some of their player evaluations? Imagine that. Vaughn is really a great RB that just needs more touches after 3 years? R White is a definite RB1? Mauch is definitely better than Leverette at this point? JTS is making his big leap this year? The stubbornness of this entire staff is breathtaking. They don’t have a clue as what they may or may not have riding the pine yet we are supposed to give their opinions much more credibility than they deserve. Opinions change when people are given the opportunity to show what they are or are not on the battlefield. If we lose on Sunday we should see Trask. Not that Mayfield is playing badly but maybe Trask could be even better? I don’t know but I am certainly not going to the bank with any of these coaching opinions. Bake played a good game last week. Does that mean that Trask couldn’t have made more of the throws that BM missed? We will never know with this crew.

  16. Dlavid Says:

This team is going nowhere as long as a Todd Bowles is the coach !

  17. SlyPirate Says:

    QUALITY OF PLAYERS
This roster has a ton of talent on both sides of the ball. I only see four positions in dire need of upgrade: Center (Hainsey), MLB (White), S (Neal), RB (White)

The rest of the team looks bad because of coaching. Great coaches maximize talent and hide weaknesses. Bad coaches minimize talent and create weaknesses. We have the later.

  18. Popcorn Mike Says:

This is what me and a great number of Bucs fans have been saying the last 4 games. Make some changes. Plug in a player here and there, bench a player if he’s not getting the job done. To me, it’s a bad omen when the front has to make a H C makes changes and sure sounds like Licht has step in for the Bucs

  19. WyomingJoe Says:

Two things: Whoever thinks that Baker Mayfield can’t throw an accurate long ball is blind. Go to YouTube my friends. Secondly, the Bucs will never be successful with the loser fans found on this site. You guys have been tanking on this team since training camp. Sickening…

  20. Couch Fan Says:

Mayfield’s personal cheerleader has shown up once again to tell us how bad of fans we are for wanting our team to try something different that might actually help us win

  21. Thundersack Says:

    @wyomingjoe

I have noticed that too for many years. It makes me wonder why they are here rooting for this team if all they do is take a dump on the team. One bad game and the sky is falling mentality. In this case, multiple bad games…

With that said, the expectations for the team this year were 6 wins at best this year as they are in salary cap purgatory. They are performing above expectations this year in terms of competitiveness!

  22. rrsrq Says:

Every time they try to shut him down, he has to replace somebody on the line, not only to we not lose results, in some cases it has been better

  23. Toad Bowels Says:

Might as well add Nick Leveritt as an extra lineman as he is a better blocker than Chris Godwin. The Bucs offense is not using Godwin as a receiver so take the opportunity to improve the run game and use Godwin as #3 WR (which in Bucs case is really #

  24. Erik Hesson - Fine Artist and Founder of UniqueModernArt.com Says:

Now, somebody replace Mauch til next season and we’re getting somewhere…

  25. Deadwood South Dakota Says:

Hey Joe u think u might ask them a tough question this year or just doing the jena lane questioning.. we all r bucs fans but we all don’t have acess like u do.. stop playing softball and start playing hard ball..

  26. Joe Says:

Hey Joe u think u might ask them a tough question this year or just doing the jena lane questioning..

Guess you haven’t listening to many press conferences, or don’t detect Joe’s loud stuttering voice.

  27. BAKERSBucs Says:

Lombardi Lonnie is u r side kick squiggy?I think so,couch fan feed u r face & shut u r pie hole.nprsays plz so put Trask in so he can get us the 40 points we needed instead of the 37 baker got us u sound freaking stupid just shut u r pie hole.atlbucsays u know diddly baker is the best friggin item on this team shut u r pie hole! Question Goodwin in game plan wasn’t he the 1 that had the hail Mary play but forgot to turn around that was the easiest play of the day & blew the win everyone knew it was a hail Mary even him!

  28. Couch Fan Says:

So angry that your lil man crush isnt beloved by everybody huh? LMAO. I’ll take your advice and feed my face but afterwards ill still be here educating the low IQ tards like you.

BTW I see you are so proud of the 37 pts against the awful texans and you act like that is all he’s been doing but yet I see you are ignoring the 11 against the Eagles, 6 against the Lions, 13 against Atl, and 18 against the Bills. He’s so talented whatever would we do without all those amazing points against good teams. I reaally dont know what we would do without all that production with the All Pro Baker LMAO

  29. bucsfaninOregon Says:

Wyoming and Thunder, here is why we are here and saying sh!t: We all are following the Bucs and here because we are fans AND realists. It bothers people like us when the guys in charge of the Bucs (Licht, Bowels, etc.) are so obviously clueless and some players are so obviously misplaced (JTS, etc.) that we wish to express our frustrations. We would much rather be posting about the race to see who will have the most INTs, instead we are wondering who can even play zone. We are NOT homers who see flowers growing out of the piles of dung left after most Buc games this year. That is why.

  30. Duane in Sanford Says:

While we pass out blame for the o line and the run game, lets not forget that we have had the same run game coordinator for at least the last 4 years. How does Goody not recognize what is going on? You replaced Feiler with Stinnie. Imagine if you considered swapping another center in. I think there is talent on this team, and am surprised that its not being used correctly. Man corners that play zone, a running back that is our best slot receiver-you cannot make this up. Only in the Bowles Zone.

  31. SBucs Says:

The GM lets two decent safeties walk to retain Russell Gage to sign Ryan Neal and Fieller. What does this say about Mr Doofus?

  32. RagingBrisket Says:

SBucs- yep. Licht is WAY too overrated by the fans and most of the media that follow this team. Arians gave him a lifeline and made Brady and a SB happen. Licht is not good. 10 years now, I’ve seen enough.

  33. confido75 Says:

I am having a really hard time understanding how the same players that won us a lombardi are all of a sudden bad players. The regression started with Bowles. The guy sucks as a HC. Good DC, bad HC. I know the Glazers won’t fire Bowles right now, but what would it hurt at this point. The root cause for the lack of success is fairly clear here.

  34. Thundersack Says:

    @bucsfaninOregon

Hey, that is fair. I’m not questioning anyone’s fandom, as that would be ludicrous. Just suggesting a bit of perspective at 30,000ft.

It looks like they are addressing one of those dung heaps with Leverret being named a starter for the rest of the season. The additional poop on their shoes from Neal and JTS will hopefully be addressed soon.

  35. EC Buc Says:

Stinnie was penciled in as the starter last year until he got hurt in camp. Glad to see him get the nod.

  36. orlbucfan Says:

Hey joes, you paying off a bunch of no-name aholes who post on here? I’ve been checking in since you guys started this blog. All the real fans with 🏈 IQs vanish. The reason Bucs lost last week was refs. You get a few bought off refs to throw a bunch of defensive holding flags, and guess what? Same sh1t as in Buffalo but not as blatant. I hope the coaches see it cos Dungy’s crew sure did. So did the 2020 Bucs who won the SB, and didn’t need the goat. Plus all the salary squeeze, etc. he brought with him. JTS sure catches a lot of crap on here from morons who are not Bucs fans.

  37. Capt.Tim Says:

    Pretty basic
Bucs suck, because they cant pass rusk, block, or tackle
    The D-line is horrific.
    The Oline is horrific
Coach Lombardi was right. Football is all about blocking and tackling.
Which brings us to the biggest problem this year.
    Coaching.

  38. AJ Says:

One thing they need to do is bench Trey Palmer and give Thompkins a shot in that slot role. Dude is literally a speed demon with great hands.

  39. BakerBucs Says:

Man crush that sounds like something a woman says I’m all heterosexual thxs u much bakers stats for the season r in the top 12 this season in this league I go by the # I try to find positive from all u r neg garbage trask it ain’t happening no matter how many times u say the same stupid thing u do every game stink on baker he is in top 5 on 3rd down stats the list is very good for our QB the season isn’t over yet even tho that’s all u haters said since his signing in off season.tjere is no way Trask gets u 37 points ever.
