49ers Wanted YaYa Diaby

November 24th, 2023

It’s smelling more and more like Bucs general manager Jason Licht found a steal in Round 3 of this year’s NFL Draft.

Yes, Joe knows YaYa Diaby, Tampa Bay’s rookie edge rusher out of Louisville, has been a very part-time player. And he has only three sacks, not exactly a big number — and on one he was completely unblocked.

However, Diaby looked the part of a dangerous pass rusher in preseason before a minor injury knocked him out. Diaby has recovered, learned and made strides since the real games started, and it’s obvious he has a big NFL ceiling. Perhaps the Bucs will step out of their failing routine and give Diaby the start Sunday in Indianapolis opposite Bucs sacks king Shaq Barrett?

Regardless, Diaby is talent getting noticed.

Bucs defensive line coach Kacy Rodgers said this week that multiple 49ers coaches told him San Francisco was ready to draft Diaby when the Bucs snagged him at No. 82 overall. San Francisco picked at No. 87. Interesting … 49ers GM John Lynch has done a hell of a job collecting defensive talent in his tenure there.

Joe is firmly on the Diaby bandwagon.

Perfect example of the main problem with the Bucs. That is they cannot admit past mistakes (see JTS) and move on with an alternative (see Ya Ya). All teams draft busts (see 49rs and T Lance). The good teams react appropriately (see 49rs dump T Lance). To replace JIS with Ya Ya would show the world we (Licht) can’t evaluate edge rushers.

Free Yaya! Free Watts! Bench JTS!

  3. SteveK Says:

John lynch is a national treasure:

    – threw 1st pitch in marlins history
    – moved from QB to S at Stanford, recruited by Bill Walsh
    – two rings of honor: Bucs and Broncos
    – HOF
    – outstanding GM
-knocked his own BIL out of a game on a tackle.

Who is a comparable? Maybe Ozzie Newsome?

Go John Lynch, what a damn good dude.

Let me know if I’m missing anything?

    Great chicken too!

  5. My Momma Says:

As a side note: Sam Wyche talked him out of playing baseball to play for the Bucs.

  6. SufferingSince76 Says:

Bucs gave up on Lynch way too soon. He said he’d take a cut in salary and they still let him go. Major blunder. Thanks, Bruce Allen and Jon Gruden.

  7. Todd Says:

    I have an excellent idea…

Bench YaYa tomorrow and give more snaps to JTS.

Because YaYa might not know the scheme.

    Or something.

  8. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

JTS knows the scheme better, allegedly, yet makes zero impactful plays – doesn’t that make him an even bigger bust? Yaya doesn’t know the scheme yet makes plays. Does t that mean that Bowles scheme is a bust?

    “Gronk-a-day” replaced by “Ya-Ya-a-day”

  10. Beeej Says:

HOW many draft picks did SF give up for Trey Lance?

  11. ElioT Says:

Congrats for doing your job Jason!!

    Gold star!!

  12. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Ya Ya does more part time than JTS does full time practice and game time. Shows how really not so smart this coaching stauff is by keeping him on the bench

  15. Deadwood South Dakota Says:

Terrible coaching it’s been great that you keep pointing that out to us joe but not to them at the press conferences .
Lynch should have been our GM ever as the glazers why that never happened?

  16. Pigsueybucsfan Says:

John lynch got macaffrey for a hot dog and a bag of chips from carolina, and you think our GM is bad, then traded last year’s and this year’s first round pick plus for a short QB, Love our GM

  17. Cobraboy Says:

    Diaby is now depressed.

He coulda been a 9er, and instead, he plays for a guy who won’t play him.

  18. sasquatch Says:

    I agree – FREE YaYa!

  19. HC Grover Says:

Bowzo has him warming the bench in favoe of Plan 9 from Outer Space

  20. orlbucfan Says:

Well, tough titties 49ers. John Lynch looked like total crap last week. He’s gained a bunch of weight and looks like he’s 60. He better get his boys in the Stupid Bowl this year.

  21. infomeplease Says:

The Bucs have him. Now maybe one of the Glazers should make a phone call to Bowles about getting him on the field!!!!!!!!!

  22. orlbucfan Says:

Hey Grover, you Plan 10? You sure aren’t a Bucs fan the way you constantly b1tch about them.

  23. Fred McNeil Says:

Stupidity and stubbornness are why Bowlzo won’t be back next year.

  24. Tony Says:

I’ve said this for the last couple of weeks, too! They need to give Yaya & Watts more playing time & sit Tryon next to Carlton & Dean. Or maybe they should be renamed FRAGILE or IHOP. Since they’re always injured & limping off the field.

  25. Delusional Intelligence Says:

This reader is just happy you aren’t referring to YaYa as “YaYa’s Flame Broiled Chicken Diaby” any more.

  26. Greg Says:

    Bowles is a bust

  27. 1#bucsfan Says:

Lynch is deff my fav player of that great defense era. Everytime we played backyard football I was him. He’s killing it in San Fran. I love Jason but I would take lynch in a heart beat. Also #freeyaya hey JOE get a billboard on dale mabrey that says #FREEYAYA so everyone knows lol

  28. David Says:

From now until the end of the year, his workload needs to steadily increase as JTS steadily goes buh-bye

  29. TOMMY MORDUE Says:

YES ! DEFINITELY FREE UP YA YA TO PLAY EVERY WEEK !..I HATE LOSING LAVANTE DAVID..BUT THIS GIVES US A CHANCE TO GET A GOOD LOOK AT SIRVOCIA DENNIS !..PLAYING BEHIND CALIJAH KANCEY AGAIN AFTER THEIR PITTSBURGH PANTHERS DAYS ! !LET’S F%#K!NG GO BUC’S ! ! !
