Luke Goedeke Took Care Of Cam Jordan

October 2nd, 2023

Saints DE Cam Jordan.

Mouthy Cam Jordan used to eat Bucs tackles for lunch. Then along came Tristan Wirfs. That put a stop to that.

Jordan still beat Wirfs more than anyone else did, but no longer was he a dominant force. So with the decision to move Wirfs to left tackle, that meant second-year man Luke Goedeke would have to handle Jordan when the Bucs played the slimy Saints. Ruh-roh.

Well, Goedeke did alright yesterday. He held Jordan to four tackles and one quarterback hit. That’s not very much.

As you can see from the video below, in one particular play, Goedeke manhandled Jordan. If Joe didn’t know any better, Joe would have thought it was Lane Johnson taking out Joe Tryon-Shoyinka last Monday night.

If Goedeke can keep this up, the Bucs won’t have any problems with the tackles.

I was watching this one closely. Good to see Luke is coming around.

  2. RagingBrisket Says:

Cam Jordan clearly didn’t have his ears pinned back on that play either. Poor example because Luke G seemed to have a good day. If there was a better snippet of Luke G stopping a true pass rush or blocking down in the run it would be more helpful.

Personally im not gonna bitch about any of these guys, they’re doing things I can’t. But, these small school guys just have to get NFL strong before you can fairly evaluate them. Mauck might be the steal of the draft, his pass pro looks good but he needs a little more strength to knock the block in the run game

  4. SteelStudBuc Says:

Maybe Cam was tired at that point

  5. unbelievable Says:

Otton got a nice chip and some hands on Jordan first then passed him off to Goedeke, who held up well there. Need to fight like that on every play. Nice to see our TE give some help too.

He definitely looks better at tackle than he did at guard. Not great at run blocking yet, but then again neither are any of our lineman except Wirfs.

  6. Proudbucsfan Says:

Best thing the Bucs did was move Goedeke back to his natural position RT he was terrible at guard. I remember reading that Wirfs said that Goedeke was stronger than him if I’m not mistaken.

  7. MadMax Says:

    Great job Luke….you’re doing it

  8. Rican Says:

Goekdeke played great! But let’s not act like Jordan is 34 years old now.

  9. Rican Says:

    Let’s not forget * ^ sorry typo

  10. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

Even his face looks like he’s an a-hole. Glad Luke took care of him.

  11. Pewter Power Says:

Big mouth!!! Cam Jordan talks to much to play sorry like he did. Barely heard his name, he’s a big reason I hate the saints

  12. BA’s Red Pen Says:

    F cam jordan

  13. Bucsfanman Says:

I’m glad to see this unit, and this team, start to gel. Not a clean game by any stretch and we need to improve the run-blocking. Still, division game, Saints, Slimy Saints…I’ll take it!

  14. adam from ny Says:

our 2 bookend tackles are both doing the do…

glad to see goedeke handling biz out there…

he’s def not the luke of last year

  15. Frank Pillow Says:

Cam Jordan should’ve been a Buccaneer. A (once) great player passes over by the former GM for reasons that no one here could ever legitimately agree with. #erbspalsy. That being said, credit to Luke for not becoming Cam’s next highway marker.

  16. Zoocomics Says:

The line was pretty solid yesterday. What’s crazy is that every time we gave Baker a clean pocket, which wasn’t often, it was a nice throw to a wide-open receiver. Sorry just, day-dreamer about how much better this team could be with a healthy Jensen under center.

  17. BUC CHEEKS Says:

    FUH-Q Cam Jordan

  18. adam from ny Says:

i don’t think hainsey is doing too bad…

yeah he gets no real push in the run…otherwise not bad…

but wow oh wow if we had a dominant, nasty, frothy center like jensen spewing madness and harassment in the middle of the line…

  19. Salary Cap Hell Says:

The problem with talking Sh!t (cam ) is that it motivates the other team . It was a well balanced win and great to see everyone mature and grow and gel together especially the rookies.

  20. David Says:

4 games in and it’s obvious he can play RT. It’s also very obvious tackles are not the problem. The entire interior of the line needs to be better.

  21. 1#bucsfan Says:

Lane Johnson has bin a stud for quite some time. No wonder he man handle JTS. He also kept Shaq in check to.

  22. orlbucfan Says:

Olines take some time to jell, even great ones like the one the Bucs had 3 years ago. Give this gang some time. It’s called patience. 3-1 shows that something good is happening.

  23. Canabuc Says:

Our issue with the line is they pass block much better than run block.
Since our tackles seem to be stronger than guard why don’t we run more outside like chiefs were doing rather than between the tackles where no holes open.

  24. teacherman777 Says:

Can Jordan has the voice of a 140 pound white boy.

    Who is “binary.”

  25. Nicholas Carlson Says:

“If Joe didn’t know any better, Joe would have thought it was Lane Johnson taking out Joe Tryon-Shoyinka last Monday night.”

Disagree only in that Jordan still managed to look like he was also an adult and the same general size as the tackle blocking him.

  26. firethecannons Says:

Joe that is amazing video of Goedeke basically dancing in front of Cam Jordan, he is staying sound the entire time, constantly moving his nimble feet to block the SOB. wow–never realized he wass capable of that. Amazing!

  27. stpetebucfan Says:

Thanks for that video Joe!!! Goeddeke has some quick feet and good reaction time for a big guy who has all of FOUR games at the position in the NFL.

  28. Esteban85 Says:

    Gorgeous play!
