Finally, Common Sense Use Of Rachaad White

October 30th, 2023

Helping those who need it.

It was reaching to the point where Joe thought a doctor prescribed Joe crazy pills and just didn’t tip Joe off.

The Bucs’ run game has not struggled this year. It has sucked! But finally, the Bucs don’t have the worst run game after Week 8. Instead, that belongs to the Raiders.

It’s not because the Bucs are running better; the Raiders are that awful (with Josh Jacobs, even!).

So in the dozens of times Rachaad White has run to nowhere, in part due to his awful vision, Bucs offensive coordinator wanted to pound White up the middle or to the right much more than the left.

What is a running back’s best friend in the run? A mauler on the offensive line. And Joe presents left tackle Tristan Wirfs. Joe has no idea why Canales didn’t run White behind Wirfs until White was so tired he couldn’t stand up straight.

For his 2023 standards, White had a great night Thursday. He ran for 39 yards on nine carries. However, his two biggest runs that counted came when he ran behind Wirfs.

Who woulda thunk?

Look below at the Thursday run charts of White from NextGen Stats. In this link is White’s run chart against the Dixie Chicks. Big difference, no?

If White was ever going to snap out of his career-long slump in the western hemisphere, the chances of him doing that following the lead of arguably the best left tackle in the game are significantly better than pounding White up the middle.

Glad someone had this epiphany at One Buc Palace.

Stinnie too over Fieler. 🤷🏿‍♂️ could it have also been #64 is better than #71 for RBs. Saw Stinnie get fired up too. Most emotion I saw from OL since Jensen.

Saw CLE use the backup center as the lead back a few plays yesterday vs SEA. Also saw SEA run an unbalanced line with two TE on the left side on more than one occasion. These are both “deliberate” ground control type offenses like Canales seems to want, might pay to mix in a little more creativity.

It is scary to think the OC does not realize to run more behind Wirfs who is a tackle god.

Did they though? One run don’t qualify them as having the epiphany…

Maybe Canales is right handed. Everyone’s been saying Whites a good 3rd down back.

He’s good catching the ball out of the backfield and Joe could argue should be the Bucs’ No. 4 receiver.

I think we also need to be running more screens & feature white more in the passing game overall that guy seems to be lethal in the passing game.

Odd that White would have “awful vision” running out of the backfield, with the path in front of him being strewn with bodies of his “blockers” thrown there by the defense, but clear vision when he catches a ball with no bodies strewn in his path? Makes you want to go Hmmm.

I’ve been howling about this like forever. Also, hey Earth to Canales: Otton can catch, and GodzillaCG14 is tired of just hanging around on the field, getting suntans. Joes, read an interesting review in the NYT Sports blog earlier. It’s was going on about all the teams having QB problems, but it pointed out that even the almighty 49ers are starting to stumble. Hmmph. Also saw where Panthers won. NFC South is up for grabs.

I’m pretty sure I remember the o-line coach saying the left side of the line was going to “Eff people up in the run game this year.”
I’m still waiting to see that.

Joe, you do realize that it wasn’t running behind just Wirfs that made the difference???

    It was STINNIE & WIRFS…
    That was the difference….

Stinnie have way more push than Fieler was doing….
They were actually moving dudes on Thursday..

We agree on something concerning the running game finally Joe!

Running behind guys who can’t run block has been a mystery dating back to Lenny.

    Go Bucs!
