New Faces On The Injury Report

September 21st, 2023

The first official Buccanereers injury report of this week, Eagles week, has been released and it shows a few fresh names.

Manbeast defensive tackle Vita Vea was limited in practice today with a pectoral injury. Safety Ryan Neal joined him on the limited list with a banged up knee and ribs. Joe already wrote about No. 1 cornerback Carlton Davis testing his toe today in a limited fashion.

Rookies Calijah Kancey (calf) and Sirvocea Dennis (hamstring) skipped practice with their ongoing injuries.

Kancey WTF is the problem? He’s been out for over a month. He’s a bum as far as I’m concerned.

  2. SufferingSince76 Says:

Get everyone on the TB12 Method now.

Is Vita Vea a bum? Seems to me he was out his first games as well.

    Patience, Brother.

  4. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

    Hey Buc you, Buc you!

  5. Buc4evr Says:

Vita always has injury issues – just glad it’s not his ankle or foot. Also, let’s hope Davis will be ready.
As far as Kancey, there is something seriously wrong with his injury. It can’t just be tightness in his calf. He tore something? Next thing we know he will be on IR…. And Hicks or Suh will show up on the rooster. Lol..

  6. Marine Buc Says:

I would hate to watch the Bucs try to stop the Eagles run game without Vea in the middle…

Could get ugly if the big guy can’t go. Greg Gains will not have the same impact.

  7. D-Rok Says:

And our worst fears, the injury bug, is starting to rear its ugly head.

  8. MadMax Says:

Oh boy, here we go again….primetime game too…seems we always lose those (non Brady era)

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Sure will be glad when our Rookies can play…..Kancey & SVD (Sir Vocea Dennis)

Let’s dub him SVD from now on.

  10. A Bucs Fan Says:

Eagles are more banged up… 12 players limited or DNP. Most starters or contributors.

Don’t be silly, other teams don’t have any problems with injuries, depth, weakness in roster, they are all perfect machines and the Bucs are but hapless fools who shouldn’t take the field. According to “Buc fans around here”.

  12. unbelievable Says:

Good thing no one is concerned with what BucU thinks…

Bucs are doing the right thing by letting The Kanceyman get healthy and come back when ready. The guy has an entire career ahead of him.

  13. Obvious Says:

The PROBLEM is how Bowles handles the public. How about is Kancey still alive? We can start there?. Of course Kancey needs to heal but it IS getting extremely strange…. I personally am Not interested in another “Jensen” episode of days of our lives..

How about an update on our First Round Pick? Of ANY KIND will be fine…

That would be from either Bowles or a coach that is employed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Nobody else need remark.. Isn’t it MANDATORY that injuries be revealed during the season?

Maybe when Mayfield gets hurt and is out , NO One around here will need to know when he maybe returning either I suppose…. THOUGHT SO!

It’s just STUPID asking humans not to be curious… Well unless your thought process doesn’t reach very far. I suppose THAT’S understandable

    WHERE IS KANCEY!?

  14. Obvious Says:

BTW, in No Way Shape or Form does it make Kancey a bum! That’s NOT fair!

I Still want to know what’s going on here. We were clearly LIED TO AGAIN??? Is THAT what we have here?

  15. Pewter Power Says:

What is going in this comment section lol. Every team is dealing with injuries and yes that means eagles. Tomlin said no excuses no explanations. Go out there and play ball. There’s a reason it’s a 53 man roster next man up.

Imagine beating the eagles!! At the very least giving them all they can handle and barely losing. We’re getting more than we expected from this team LFG Bucs, this will be an upset

  16. Mark A Swygert Says:

Dan really is a moron. Mayfield may not be a top ten QB, but anyone who watched the first 2 games this year can see he belongs in the league. You are just an irritating troll and what ryhmes with brasspole. The Bucs . in the past, just seem to come into these prime time games flat, or scared or both. I hope that all the games with Brady have worn out that tendency. The Eagles have the best lines in football on both sides of the ball, when healthy. Unfortunately, despite their bloated injury list, that is not where they are hurting. They had to put their nickel corner (Avante Maddox) on IR. Hopefully, this makes for a downgrade that we can take advantage of.

  17. unbelievable Says:

    @Obvious – it’s not a secret, he has a calf injury.

If you’re expecting Bowles to whip out the MRI results and go through them with you in detail, I dunno what to tell you lol.

  18. #99 the big fella Says:

Dan , you are a pathetic loser.. you need to really get a life

Kancey WTF is the problem? He’s been out for over a month. He’s a bum as far as I’m concerned.
    ^^^^^^
I’ve had a strained calf and was out for a month. That, and Kancey did play in the first game and probably re-aggravated it. Is it that hard to understand?

  20. Joe in Michigan Says:

“ People with grade II strains generally require 3 to 6 weeks to completely heal and return to full activity.”

  21. BA’s Red Pen Says:

It is starting to smell like Kancey won’t play until after the bye.

  22. Iamabuc Says:

Hey guys, ignore the fat guy typing from his Mom’s basement. Yes, the guy who’s been bullied all his life, the guy women laugh at, the guy that’s only craving for attention and doesn’t have anything else to do but to come here and talk smack about our team.
    Yes….you Dan.

  23. Dave Pear Says:

Too bad Gerdonkey isn’t listed with a bulvatic tendon strain. That guy is responsible for zero runs to the right.

  24. D-Rok Says:

Guys, please stop berating Dan. He has some wild takes, but rebut him with football facts and not attack his character, even tho he does the same calling the Bucs losers.

Be a better person. Romans 10:9.

  25. D Cone Says:

Swift will probably be getting the majority of the rushes and likes to attack the edges. He’s no joke. Did well with the Lions and doesn’t seem to have missed a beat. Evans had 170 receiving and Swift had 170 rushing week 2. Hurts won’t stay in the Backfield very long unless the plan is to have the edge rushers contain him in the pocket ala Fields and force him to beat you with his arm. Kelce and Vea would probably battle to a draw. Might be a good week to rest Vita.

  26. Michael Says:

    Bucu
It’s the teams fault for letting Kancy play .He should not have been out there until he was 100% .

  27. Brandonbucc Says:

Candy is a softy that’s afraid to take the field. All hype and will fail at the nfl level.

  28. Rod Munch Says:

Why do you guys fall for obvious trolling? I never understand how people don’t get when others are just saying things to get an reaction, while adding nothing to the conversation.

As for the Eagles, my friend who is a big Eagles fan was doing the bit where he’s all doom and gloom and saying the Eagles will lose this game because of all the injuries. I told him I know the Eagles will lose because they always lose in Tampa when they’re the better team. So that way it’s covered. If the Bucs win, we beat the better team, but if we lose, the Eagles win is diminished (in his eyes).

But, said all summer the Bucs win the Bears game and win this game, and at worst would be 2-1 to start the season, and the talk of the NFL. If they can be 3-0, they’ll really be the talk of the NFL.

  29. Obvious Says:

    @unbelievable

I didn’t ask what was wrong with Kancey. I suppose reading “content” isn’t important because Not Only did I NOT ASK what was wrong with Kancey, I also stated that if you’re not employed by the Bucs then Don’t waist mine and your time attempting a half arsed answer because the result will be how clever You “think you are” and then Of Course…. You Blow It!

What I’m looking for is a time line from guys whom OWES ANSWERS.. Not a not so smart arse….

If you don’t get that, then I Don’t Know What to Tell You…..

  30. garro Says:

For all concered and dedicated JBFers! Stop feeding the trolls please.

Neal really needs to be back quickly.

Turf toe sucks. League mandated grass fields please.

Was really hoping we would see Kancey Monday. He and Vea would be a tough one for Philly to handle.

  31. Defense Rules Says:

garro … ‘Was really hoping we would see Kancey Monday. He and Vea would be a tough one for Philly to handle.’

Eagles’ OLine look to be outstanding as run blockers, but just average as pass blockers IMO. Since they’ve been running on almost 55% of their plays, they’ve probably already figured out that’s where their strength is versus their opponents.

Looked at D’Andre Swift’s 28 runs (for 178 yds) in the Minnesota game (he only got 1 run in the Patriots game) and was amazed. Of his 28 rushes, 20 were over or between the 2 Guards; 4 runs were over the tackles & 4 runs were around the ends. IOW, it sure would be helpful if the Bucs had Vea, Gaines AND Gholston healthy for Monday night’s game. It’ll be interesting to see how some of our ‘lighter’ guys (Hall, Greene, Kancey if he plays) do against their OLine.

Also not sure it’d be a good idea to use Devin White as a ‘spy’ against Hurts like we did against Fields. If they decide to run up-the-gut again, I would think that we’ll need all hands on deck to plug the gaps & keep Swift from getting to the 2nd level.

  32. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

As long as the Bucs stack it up front, get after them eagles and don’t fall into that play off receiver’s 15 yard soft zone lawn chair break but don’t bend defense, we will be alright.
As for mayfield, I see remnants of farve in that there skill set!

  33. garro Says:

Agreed DR run stopping is paramount. We gotta force 3rd and longs. Make Hurts beat us with his arm. Then unleash Vea, Shaq and, dare I say it, JTS. Gotta hold the edges out there though.

    Go Bucs!

  34. BucU Says:

Bowles said Kancey did NOT re-injure his calf in the first game did he not? He said it tightened up and they removed him as a precaution remember?
Don’t attack me for being frustrated with the guy.
He’s been out for well over a month with this stupid injury with no end in sight. So I said he’s useless to the team until proven otherwise.

  35. Jokers Paradigm Says:

Some of these comments from Buc Haters feel like experiencing an ice-cream brain freeze.

  36. orlbucfan Says:

I don’t look at the injury report until game day. I’m no Bowles but if he’s gonna be calling Defensive spy plays, I would think about JTS along with White. White is on a mission, and JTS is fast. Plus, they’re both healthy. Rest Kancey and save him for the Aints.

  37. The D will implode Says:

    ….and so it begins

  38. TombsEN Says:

Vita strained his calf muscle his rookie year and was out for a month, he did not make his return until week 5. Like a poster said above, I do not expect to see Kancey until after the bye week.

  39. Jeff Says:

And here we go! Eagles will rush for 175 + yards. 150 from the RB’s.

  40. rrsrq Says:

Calf injury for Kancey, Joe Burrows has that injury too, they rushed him back out there, how is that going for the Bengals

  41. Bucsfanman Says:

Let me let some of you in on a little secret about injuries. EVERY team has them!

It’s less than ideal to defend Philly without the big man or CD24 but that is just what might have to happen.

As far as Kancey goes, I think we’ve seen enough calf injuries to know that it will take more than a week to heal. Believe me, EVERYBODY wants to see this kid play!
