Was tepid about it pre-draft, but Wirfs seems to be taking it in stride and the level of athlete he is I’d bet on Wirfs being good in this transition before I bet against him. Also think Coaches Goodwin & Gilbert are good enough coaches to prepare Wirfs while he’s making the move to the left side.
My only concern is Wirfs’ ankles and I’m hoping when the pads come on we’ll get reports that he’s doubled up on the ankle braces to help protect him should he get rolled up on(again) or reaggravates either injury to either ankle now or anywhere down the line.
Not sure. He is the best “RT” and what will he get paid on the left. Whatever. Licht gave D. Smith monster contracts but he sucked. Wirfs, Mauch, Jensen on the left is some serious damage, but what are we going to do on the right? Levertt, Stinnie, Hainsey, and Goedeke will be more developed (hopefully) which is not terrible. These young guys are so versatile.

No cap money for a free agent left tackle, Only a reach in the 1st round of the draft. Donovan had to go. Nobody already on the roster they could trust besides Wirfs. It is a gamble! Plus who is replacing Wirfs on the right side? ….. Yeah it is a gamble.
