Tom Brady Questioned The Barefoot Walk

May 14th, 2023

Bucs tight end Ko Kieft.

It’s that time of year when Joe catches up on podcast listening, and Bucs tight end Ko Kieft’s recent chat was next on Joe’s list.

Kieft sat down with the It’s A Bit podcast and shared a few nuggets of interest.

Of course, the second-year player was hit with Tom Brady questions. Kieft still seems stunned, nearly a year after being drafted, that Brady was such a down-to-earth, regular guy. He said Brady was a very positive presence daily and he mostly led with positivity, though occasionally he would get on guys in practice.

Kieft also said Brady wasn’t shy about riding young teammates about their habits.

Kieft has an odd pregame ritual of walking the game field barefoot to bond with the turf — before getting lost in Metallica and Pantera in his ears. The barefoot thing was too much for Brady to resist.

“I actually got crap from Tom one time. Me and one of my teammates were doing that before the game and he’s like clowning us,” Kieft said. “He’s like, ‘Where’s you guys’s shoes at? What are you doing?’ Just trying to get grounded, you know, before the game.”

Joe kind of likes the barefoot custom, but does Kieft do that on turf?

Kieft added that he learned a ton from Kyle Rudolph, the veteran free agent who rode the Bucs’ bench last season, and he was pleased with his football speed on Bucs special teams after being dubbed slow for running a nearly 4.9-second time in the 40 yard dash at his Pro Day.

Kieft was not invited to the NFL Scouting Combine but was honored by the Bucs trading up to draft him the sixth round last year.

    Me too.

Too bad Bloweszo refused any engagement with Tom, any at all. But, as everyone knows, the sign of a great coach is to utterly ignore and have zero relationship with the Best of All Time. You can do it Toad. Five in a row! Five!!!

Get a script, you should have your first 15 hamster names picked out well in advance. Maybe you need 30. Or two. Nah. Just call Cover Zero and let them all run free.

  4. sasquatch Says:

Why are people so triggered about Brady articles? He was a central figure his three years with us. He’s also the GOAT. I don’t see people complaining about articles about Sapp and other former Bucs players. It’s fair for Joe to post articles about him. I would like an article about how James Wilder should be in the Bucs HOF. I’m paying an absurd amount of money for season tickets. I was around watching Wilder when tickets were dirt cheap. The Glazers rode the Brady money train, and they duped season ticket holders.

  9. Goatfarmer Says:

13, excellent point in that, those who are long time season ticket customers should have proportional weight in deciding ring of honor members.

The NFL let’s fans vote on the pro bowl. While that’s a joke, if the Glazers did that, at least it would be from the most informed and invested on the subject.

One $ spent = one point.

“Grounding” with bare feet for only 10 minutes has immediate and long term health benefits.

  11. Delusional Intelligence Says:

before getting lost in Metallica and Pantera

I already was a fan of Ko, but now I am going to need a Kieft jersey, especially if he is a CFH.

  12. Stu Padaso Says:

I need me a Kieft House of Pancakes tee shirt.

  13. Brady Bucs Says:

Couple of days ago I said Brady was bought and paid for by Kraft to come back to patriots. Next day it says Brady is in deep discussions to be involved with Raiders. I now believe Brady will be a part of Bucs in some way as long as they want him to be. Brady is my favorite player after all these years I thought i kinda new where he stood on things. I never thought he would retire again he did. Never thought he would go back to Pats so soon he did. I honestly thought Brady would could back to Bucs. Brady is on football parole so I thought the place he could play was in florida. Bucs signed Baker I knew that was the nail in the coffin. I feel weak that I still cant accept he retired. I know that Gisele ruined his final season and he retired the second time for her.

Deuxmoi new Brady rumor he is with Kim Kardashian. Thats why media cant quit Brady. He is always up to something and he generates clicks. He is polarizing

Goatfarmer we’re terribly sorry that Karen took the kids and dog but could you quit interjecting with constant negativity on a fun little puff piece? You’re somewhere between a Saint’s fan and colon cancer to this website.

Love these little day in the life’s during the offseason Joe, always appreciate the little nuggets.

  15. TDTB Says:

Would like to see Ko cross trained to be the second coming of Alstott. If he’s a good block TE, I suspect the transition to blocking fullback wouldn’t be that hard. Mix in a couple of fullback runs and it would be fun to watch.

  16. BigBucsFan Says:

TDTB…..I second that notion, try Ko as a hybrid te/fb

  17. Fred McNeil Says:

I’ll third that motion…Ko for fullback!
Joe, Brady gave us two phenomenal years and one pretty good one. As long as we’re “voting” I say print as many Brady pieces as you want. I enjoy them.
And Goatfarmer. I wish bowlzo was back to asking people if they want fries with that too, but we’re stuck with him for at least one more year unless he rights this pirate ship this year. I’d rather have the BUCS win and have him back next year than the BUCS lose this year.

  18. Goatfarmer Says:

Fred — I agree with you and have said many times, I would love to host a crow barbecue to celebrate a winning season from rednose. Still traumatized starting with his terminable performance in the Rams playoff game, his inept handling of the 2022 season, and the final embarrassment, the humiliating facial we took at home to the Cows in that “playoff” game, thanks to the red nosed hamster expert.

The chances of a helicopter accidentally dropping $1million in gold bullion on my property are higher than a winning season with rednose at the helm.

    But let’s hope for that.

  19. Fred McNeil Says:

Crow bbq??? Save me a drumstick.

  20. Goatfarmer Says:

    Sold, Fred!

I’m planning to use pine to smoke them, to hide the rancid taste and try to make everyone think of Christmas.

  21. steele Says:

Learned a ton from Kyle Rudolph? About things Rudolph used to do and was acquired to do, and did none of it. Basically Rudolph was an assistant.
