Passing The Test

May 18th, 2023

Three-game physical exam.

Kyler Traskfield better be ready.

That’s the word from longtime NFL scribe Armando Salguero. The former Dolphins beat guy, who is now an NFL columnist for Outkick, decided to look over each team’s schedule to see what stretch will be the hardest test.

For the Bucs, it will be a physical test, Salguero believes. In late October, the Bucs have to play the physical Bills on the road followed by the always-tough Titans at home and then hit the road again to face a team they got bludgeoned by last year, the 49ers.

A trip to Buffalo on Oct. 26 and another road game at San Francisco on Nov. 19 sandwiching a home game against the Titans is going to be a test for whomever the Bucs quarterback is at that stage.

Good observation by Salguero. If the Bucs have a good offensive line, we will know by the time the Bucs return from San Francisco.

In a span of three weeks, the Bucs will face the likes of Von Miller, Ed Oliver, Greg Rousseau, Jeffrey Simmons, Harold Landry, Nick Bosa, Javon Hargrave and Arik Armstead.

Joe will say to the Bucs’ offensive line, ‘Good luck fellas.’ Make sure your insurance premiums are paid.

    Trask will be ready!
Gesssh why is the universe dumping on the guy ?
Maybe the time will come but we have absolutely no clue what he will play like.
Plenty of real proven lackluster players and coaches to drill into

I think the first four games are going to be the ones that set the tone for the season, not worrying about later games.

    I’m going to Buffalo!!!

Anyone else happy we are going into the season with no/low expectations? It will make watching all of the preseason games and early season games fun- we will be ‘dogs in all of them, and we can honestly watch the Trask/Mayfield experiment unfold.

No one is expecting playoffs, and I’m thinking the 6.5 win over/under line is right. Hoping for them to win is different than having high expectations are cheering for them not to lose.

I actually think this will be a fun, if frustrating from a win perspective, year to watch.

I think all Bucs Fans knows next year the Bucs will have a Top 5 pick in the NFL 2024 Draft……

Kyle Trask maybe the worst projected in Bucs QB competition history sitting right next to the Great Bruce Gradkowski and Josh Johnson…….both whom are career backups….but only this Buc’s pitiful Franchise would field such “waste-of-our-time” QBs.

These Glazers Boys love to pinch pennies at the QB position.

if we can go 8-8 through the first 16, we’ll be doing okay 🙂 🙂

Buc4evr … ‘I think the first four games are going to be the ones that set the tone for the season, not worrying about later games.’

Agree 100%. Of our 17 games this season, 11 teams had losing records last season (Saints, Panthers, Falcons, Colts, Texans, Titans, Bears & Packers) and 2 others (Jags & Lions) only had 9-8 records. The other 4 teams did very well (Eagles, 49ers, Vikings & Bills).

Two of those latter teams (Vikes & Eagles) we play in the first 4 games, along with Bears & Saints (at New Orleans). We might do as poorly as 1-3, but I’d love to see us break-even in those first 4 games.

  8. Dooley Says:

Umm, it’s really 4 weeks Joe.

    Week 8 @Buffalo
    Week 9 @Houston
    week 10 vs. Tennessee
    week 11@San Fran

We should know what we’ve got on the OL around the bye week and way before the midway point of the season. You and Salguero are excluding an entire game from our schedule lol that could very well be a “W” for us

  9. BoricuaBucfan Says:

*these Glazer boys really like to pinch Pennie’s at the QB position*

Bro what are you talking about, they are literally paying Tom Brady 25 mil this year and another 8 mil to Mayfield, that 33mil in cap alone dedicated to the QB position.

  10. BBQBUC Says:

This is all the more reason we need to see our 6’5″(+1/8″) quarterback behind center and not our 6’1″ (stretched) midget.

  11. Atlbuc28 Says:

@BoricuaBucfan. My thoughts exactly! Brady’s cap hit is actually 35 million this year, so The Glazer boys are spending 45+ million for the QB position. Some posters just want to hate. I will gladly trade 1 cap hell year for multiple Superbowl , division, playoff wins that the Glazers brought us.

  12. TOMMY MORDUE Says:

I AGREE THESE 1ST 4 GAMES ARE CRITICAL..& I DO HOPE KYLE TRASK WINS THE STARTING JOB..HE’S TALLER,VERY ACCURATE & HOPEFULLY HAS SAT BEHIND BRADY LONG ENOUGH TO LEARN WHAT IT TAKES TO WIN THE CLOSE GAMES..( & VALEDATES MY WANTING THE BUC’S TO DRAFT HIM IN 2021 )..FINALLY BEING GIVEN THE CHANCE TO COMPETE FOR THE STARTING JOB WE WILL SOON FIND OUT IF I WAS RIGHT ABOUT HIM..I STILL BELIEVE THE BUC’S SHOULD INQUIRE & MAKE A MOVE TO OBTAIN “AUSTIN ECKLER” FROM THE CHARGERS TO HELP BOLSTER THE RUNNING GAME..( THIS GUY HAS SPEED & POWER & IS CONSTANTLY MOVING HIS LEGS FORWARD & IS ALMOST UNSTOPPABLE INSIDE THE 5 YARD LINE..HIS TAPE DOESN’T LIE ) #30 DESERVES TO BE IN THE BUC’S BACKFIELD AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME.

  13. D-Rok Says:

We should all pitch in and buy Tommy a new keyboard – one without the capslock button stuck on.

  14. Buc4evr Says:

Tommy is not going to change, and I’m not going to read any of his posts with the Cap lock on. Simple.

    ^^^^^^^
By your “logic”, Dan McGwire (6′-8″ QB) would be in the NFL Hall of Fame…He’s not, and you don’t know what you’re talking about, do you?

  17. CrackWise Says:

@Buc4evr exactly, I breeze right past those all-cap post. Makes it easier and quicker to read through the comments. Some posters I typically skip as well BUT every once in a while, I catch myself reading their comments BUT not the all-cap post. I can easily move right past all caps. So ignorant, just like I am sure whatever is being said.

  18. CrackWise Says:

    Joe in M,

6-5 vs 6-8 is quite the difference and to your point. At least Dan got to start.

How about making a more modern-day comparison to Klye and his “nonathletic” self. I can think of at least one 6-5/6 QB that was nonathletic the Kyle compares to. Heck, he even played with him the last 2 years.

And you speak of LOGIC. GTFOOH!!!!

Clowns to the left of me, Clowns to the right, HERE I AM, stuck in the middle again!!!

  19. Joe in Michigan Says:

    CrackWise: Who is Klye? 🤡

  20. CrackWise Says:

I see you ignored the point and decided to attach the spelling. Classic default position of a true clown.

Little did you realize, I figured I would throw you a bone to chew on cause I didnt want to hurt your sad logicless feelings.

  21. CrackWise Says:

Never mind the fact that is spelled correctly in the next sentence. People that attack others for no reason are the problem with this world.

I attacked your point and your “logic”. Now I am forced to defend myself by pointing out your stupidity. Try playing with someone else if you want to play these games.

Now you know why the trolls don’t mess with me.

    Good day Sir/they/them/pregnant male person.

The Bucs are going to get their beehinds kicked

  26. BBQBUC Says:

    @Joe in Michigan

I didn’t say anything about Trask or Midget making the Hall of Fame. I said – given the toughness of the NFL in general and the toughness of our schedule in particular – I’d rather see our 6’5″(+1/8″) quarterback behind center than our 6’1″ (stretched) midget, who can’t see over the line and who will get knocked around like a ping pong ball. 😛

  27. Joe in Michigan Says:

BBQBUC: You’re saying Mayfield isn’t as tough as Trask because he’s shorter? You don’t really believe that, do you?

  28. LakelandSteve Says:

LMAO, I am going to say this one more time. If Trask is so good the Bucs wouldn’t have gone out and got Mayfield. Trask was so good the last two years that he wasn’t even the backup QB, he was third string and didn’t even dress for most of the games. So somehow he is going to miraculously beat out Mayfield and lead us to the promised land. Those who believe that are diliusional.

  29. garro Says:

Not just the O line folks.
