My only complaint is that sometimes he lets his personal preference for small school OLs overshadow guys from bigger schools. Let’s not forget his best OL is from Iowa ….

To say totally confident seems unreasonable. I could live with very confident. But my answer is always confident. Not sure you have to spruce it up with additional superlatives.

That has to be the most positive poll I have ever witnessed on this site. Agree or disagree polls and you might see 75% approval. This is overall 96% approval with the majority at least very confident. Impressive Mr Licht. My vote was totally confident. I love that we went firmly with speed in this draft. That’s the modern NFL.

  4. Dooley Says:

Voted confident, now it’s up to the players and coaching staff to get after it once team activities get going.

    C
I am disappointed that he never addressed the 2022 season when it came to an end and never made the expected rah rah for this season and just what the plan was going forward… you know leadership 101 stuff.
This reminds me of shipping off to Vietnam in the later days
Sump’n ain’t passing the smell test folks

  6. Bojim Says:

Maybe you peeled too many potatoes over there. Hence the smell.

    Does Licht need a hug?

2x NFCS Champs, Super Bowl the year before. He’s drafted more 1st round Pro Bowlers than every NFCS team combined. Only GM in history to returns all 22 starters after a SB win.

If you don’t like our GM, please show me a better one.

  8. Craig Says:

I kind of like the ideas that drove this draft class. Lots more speed to get to QBs and an OLB who really is one.

Gotta say that there is nothing better than an Oline guy who takes out his partial to have his picture taken. Sure sign of a hard nosed SOB, which we need/

Sly… must be the PTSD that you don’t remember how dire JL’s position was before he wrangled BA and then TB
…. 5 years of Jameis …. 5 years of nothing but painful memories, that was a long look at BAD BAD football!

  10. Usfbuc Says:

I think JL learned his lesson with Winston. Imo not taking the trade for the number 1 overall pick, VH3, and of course the drafting of kickers have been the only really bad calls by our front office.

The Winston pick wasn’t bad bc he picked Winston, it was bad bc we weren’t a QB away from having a team. Every team would have picked Winston or Mariota that year so I don’t blame him so much for the pick but just not seeing that we needed a team first.

    Few things at work here.

First, Licht was in no position at the time not to draft Jameis. Not only did the owners want a franchise quarterback, Licht didn’t have the job security to pass on Winston and have another horrific year or two with Stewart McClown or whatever trash quarterback was on the street panhandling for work.

Second is, in Jameis’ second season the Bucs lost a tiebreaker for a wild card. So it wasn’t like the Bucs were light years away.

Additionally, unless you know your team will be horrible, you may not be in position to grab a franchise quarterback the following year. The top two quarterbacks drafted in 2016 were Jared Goff and Carson Wentz.

Confidence appears higher vs pre-draft… at least as of 3:53pm EST

I had to give a confidence rating only. Would love to go higher, I think he has done some really good things i.e. Bruce Arians and Tom Brady, Marpet, and others. But then he saddled us with Todd Bowles, now for a second year. Zebras don’t change their stripes and Bowles still does not have what it takes to be a successful head coach in the NFL. His primary peer in head coaching success is going to end up being Lovie Smith, those dudes are cut from the same cloth. Draft week was fun, I throughly enjoyed it. It will be fun watching Mayfield and Trask battle it out. It will be fun seeing if our brand new, no experience OC is the next budding star coach in the NFL. I have great amounts of hope tempered by the reality of Bowles head coaching resume.

I missed the Poll but overall I agree with it.

TB was JL 1st GM job… He learned well on the fly…. Hell he got TB!2 & won a SB!!! Great GM… Gotta give credit where credit is due…

  16. optimisticbucsfan Says:

    Let’s see it mid-season at 3-6

    ONLY THREE WINNING SEASONS

    OUT OF NINE

Bet it ends up 3/10 winning seasons

I’m totally confident he’s inept and a horrible GM.
