Buccaneers Will Have Joint Practices With The Jets In New Jersey

March 28th, 2023

Lesser days for Todd Bowles.

What a circus it could be for part of Buccaneers’ 2023 training camp.

Todd Bowles sat down privately with Joe today at the swanky Biltmore resort in Phoenix to talk all things Bucs. Thanks, Coach!

Bowles revealed there that Tampa Bay will have two joint practices with the New York Jets at their New Jersey training facility in August.

“It’s very important for us,” Bowles said of the joint practices, adding that he expects to have two more joint practices with a preseason opponent this summer.

There will be just one preseason game in Tampa this season, and it’s unclear exactly which week that will be.

The other team the Bucs hope to practice with will not be Miami or Jacksonville, Bowles said. So look for the Bucs to make a second significant summer road trip.

Joe’s imagining the possiblity of a media circus surrounding Aaron Rodgers in his first joint practice wearing Jets colors, and possibly his first Jets action against an opponent.

The Jets are also prime candidates for Hard Knocks. It would be cool to see the Bucs on there again but not as the main focus

  2. Dooley Says:

    Mike Evans vs. Sauce Gardner

    Carlton Davis vs. Garrett Wilson

    Jamel Dean vs. Alan Lazard

Our front 7 vs. what I expect will be a rebuilt Jets OL

    Bowles vs. Saleh

Our refurbished OL vs. a pretty young(and good) NYJ front 7(Kwon Alexander may be back there too)

Team Glazers vs. that bozo Woody Johnson

I wonder if it’ll be up here in the tri-state, as a kid I used to attend the Jets summer camps at Hofstra in Long Island. Met Curtis Martin, Laveraneus Cole, and Mo Lewis back in 2001.

Oh I don’t like this that field is deadly…

  4. Rod Munch Says:

Boy, the Jets are going to be salty when the Bucs move at the last second and trade for Rodgers to get revenge for the Jets doing that to Tampa with Brett Favre. This should be fun.

  5. DBS Says:

Hopefully if players are lost for the season it’s in the preseason time. Get it out of the way so players can be picked up early.

  6. sasquatch Says:

Munch, I am sure you don’t really believe the Bucs are going to intercept the Rodgers trade.

  7. Redeemer Says:

The joint practices have become increasingly valuable, due to the cba. Only so long you can go with your own guys before it becomes useless. Usually they get ornery, cuz they’ve been practicing exclusively against teammates. I think most coaches love em. Still think the Packers will wait until post June 1 to deal Rodgers. The comp has probably already been worked out. Who knows, they may want to simply get rid of the a hole and pay the dead hit.

  8. Rod Munch Says:

sasquatch – no, not really. That would be too exciting of a move for a Todd Bowles coached team.

  9. sasquatch Says:

I think the Packers will want to work out the trade before the draft. There’s no chance anybody gets in the way. I think Rodgers is at the point where it’s Jets or nobody… so the Packers should get what they can get and move on. There will be no other suitors.

I’d have no issues doing nothing had the Bucs been a full rebuild mode, but they’re not doing that, and they’re borrowing heavy towards next years cap and trying to make people believe that a God awful QB like Baker Mayfield is somehow going to do what Tom Brady couldn’t. LOL!

I watched the tape of Mayfield for the last two seasons, he stinks, which is noted by his QBR, where he was literally the worst QB over that span, and last year the worst QB by a huge margin.

If you don’t have a QB, you don’t have anything, and the Bucs do not have a QB. To say you want to win, yet not give yourself a chance, while weakening your team in the future, it makes no sense.

The Bucs should be all in on trying to get Rodgers and extend the current window. But they also know that Arians isn’t coaching this team, instead you have Todd Bowles and his 19382th pick as the OC. It’s going to be a disaster, and to make it worse, it’s going to be a very boring team to watch. The season ticket waitlist will be a thing of the past, as will prime time games, as will being at the top of the Jersey sales chart. It’s back to the old-pre Brady Bucs where Gronk, after Brady told him he was signing here, said he forgot that Tampa even had a team.

But yeah, hold on tight to those lottery ticket draft picks, because VH3 and Mark Barron and OJ Howard were game changers.

Munch, the Pack was never going to trade Favre within the NFC

    Bruce (Springsteen) vs Bruce (Arians)

  13. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Oh, New Jersey…home of the racist police department.

  14. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Rod Munch, I agree with all you said.

On the bright side, most of these signings are one year deals.

  15. Woodenman Says:

Rod Munch you are an idiot.

  16. Goatfarmer Says:

On the bright side, Toad’s Bowels is still the Bucs head coich.
