Tom Moore Gets A New Contract

February 8th, 2023

Re-upped.

This is both funny and interesting.

Of course the Bucs’ offense stunk last year. So the Bucs got rid of all their offensive coaches except guys who work with the offensive line and their octogenarian offensive consultant.

Bucs coach Todd Bowles, per Peter Schrager of FOX Sports, is bringing back Tom Moore, 84, who is both Bucco Bruce Arians’ and Father Dungy’s long-time trusted offensive mind.

Joe doesn’t know of too many NFL teams who have a dude in his 80s working daily.

Maybe this year Vita Vea will finally talk Moore into getting an Instagram account (those who follow Vea on Instagram know what Joe is referring to here).

Could it be the Bucs trust Moore to work with young quarterbacks?

  1. SB Says:

    Kudos to you Tom Moore.
When I am 84 I will probably be in a wheelchair with my multitude of injuries in my life that are now creeping up on me at 60.
Keep at it. You are an inspiration!

  2. SB~LV Says:

    Bless his heart
Kinda like the old factory office cat

  3. Bucs4life Says:

    This franchise is a joke.

  4. Dooley Says:

    Triple-Triple OG

  5. Arians4President Says:

    Love that dude!

  6. VABucsMan Says:

Bucs4life I bet you’re a lot of fun at parties huh? Can’t ever be satisfied

  7. HC Grover Says:

    Good for him.

  8. Crickett Baker Says:

That’s great. I am looking forward to more critical signings…

  9. Curse of Gruden Says:

Looks like we are “all in” for 2023.

  10. Bucs4life Says:

VABucsMan we have No OC and No QB but you want me to be satisfied with us extending a 84 year old coach? Yea no thanks

  11. Kgh4life Says:

    Why?

  12. Stormy Says:

Anyone complaining …. this guy has forgotten more about offense than anyone they could hire. If they get a green OC (likely) this is one hell of a resource for that person to have available.

  13. Curse of Gruden Says:

What are the odds of Moore being alive at the start of the season?

  14. Bucs4life Says:

    Curse of Gruden +230

    SB

You try to shoot down that Chinese spy balloon over MT with your 45?

As far as Tom Moore, I suspect he was one of the 6 that sanctioned the drafting of Trask…..Licht, BA, BL, Brady, Christensen & Moore.

Either all of them were wrong or all of them were right…..we will see.

  16. Duane Says:

Good to have a resource like him around. Not sure why you would keep him around making game plans for an OC staff not in place, unless there is an inhouse one already in place. Is BA coming back? Is Goodwin getting a shot?

  17. Defense Rules Says:

Got a feeling that Tom Moore has forgotten more about football than most coaches … and fans … will ever learn. He lives, eats & breathes football based on everything I’ve ever read about him. Can’t even imagine the stories he must be able to share with younger coaches & players.

  18. Miller5252 Says:

Moore is the he new OC when no one else will take the job. Let’s hope he can handle it a 84.

  19. TexasBucsFan Says:

Waste of money? What exactly did he accomplish last year? Get real..

  21. CleanHouse Says:

Put this guy in the Hall of Fame, nobody like him- what a career

  22. Pewter Power Says:

    Good for him

  23. mark2001 Says:

84… doing what he loves and has lived for, for probably 60 years. In a warm weather climate where he only has to worry about staying hydrated and making sure he has his favorite AC repairman on the speed dial. Good idea to keep him to help Trask out over the snags, if that is possible.

  24. Hodad Says:

    Bold move into the future!

  25. Bucs56 Says:

Is this a football operation, retirement home or north jersey construction site with no show jobs. I have not heard mention of Moore in regards to the offense ever. . But he is back along with BA. Not my money.

  26. BucsfanFred Says:

I’m happy to him. He’s great for morale. The guys all love him.
Keep yer panties on maties. We’ll get an OC soon enough.

  27. Stormy Says:

Some of you are perpetually miserable. Anyone doubting this has no clue about this guy. Go do some damn research before you whine.

  28. DJB Says:

I have never once seen Tom Moore interacting with any player or coach on the sideline during games. Which seems kind of unusual to me. But he must be offering something since the Bucs have rehired him. Gotta hand it to the guy.

  29. BucaneroJim Says:

Do not think advanced age negates a sharp mind – and not to mention experience! I suspect, Tom Moore is way on top of current trends in the NFL and is a valuable asset.

My own father practiced law in Florida up until his death in his 80’s. Towards the end with his declining physical health, I had to drive him to a Federal Appeals court hearing – several younger attorneys there, came over to shake his hand. One such man, turned to me and said your dad taught me a valuable lesson in my early days starting out. I was pleaded a case against him, looked over and thought your dad was old and sleeping. I thought I was winning the trail, then your dad opened his eyes, rebutted and torn apart everything I presented… my dad won the trial easily. When we got back to the car, dad told me, as he got older he would fake being asleep and even let his mouth fall open – all the time listening intently for a way to attack to the other team. Tom Moore looks pretty sharp to me – office cat with claws.

  30. SB Says:

No TBBF. I was helpless because even my .300 Mag couldn’t reach it.
    I was mad.

  31. Goatfarmer Says:

Awesome. He would die without it.

Of course watching Blowes ruin what he built with BA might kill him anyway.

  32. Mike C Says:

Bucs 4 life, franchise has 2 super bowls, one of the best Defenses to EVER play, the best QB of ALL time took us to one of those championships…….yeah all jokes just like Detroit Cleveland Minnesota and Buffalo. 19 teams have not won a superbowl in the past 25 years…….. only joke around here is you.

  33. BA’s Red Pen Says:

Anyone complaining/clowning about Coach Moore probably has not reached puberty or is in their mid 20’s living with their mother and puts their name on the orange juice in her fridge. Y’all are a bunch of miserable losers.

  34. Joe Says:

puts their name on the orange juice in her fridge.

    LOL

  35. stpetebucfan Says:

@75 I’m thrilled for Moore. While age is more than just a number it’s not an absolute. If he can still hack it fine.

“What are the odds of Moore being alive at the start of the season?

By strict odds perhaps not as short as you younger dudes but don’t delude yourself. You are one bad driver away from death!

Personally I’ve survived a war zone, an airplane crash, a head on motorcycle crash, a malignant melanoma and a type II heart attack and yet I can still swim 12,000 yards a week. Bottom line is nobody knows when the final horn is going to sound. You young guys are deluding yourselves if you smugly believe you’re going to live longer than anybody…it’s all a freaking crap shoot and here’s a fact. YOU ONLY HAVE THIS MOMENT.

Listen to Van Halen’s “Right Now” for inspiration.

  36. The Anomaly Says:

    buwahahahahahaha

    Licht and Bowles are disasters

  37. ChiBuc Says:

Yep, the youth movement starts with more… talk about Bizarro world. Truly a progressive move.

  38. Buccos Says:

He is a legend in the NFL. The coach for the coaches

  39. ChiBuc Says:

BA’s red pen, just because you are closer to Moore than you are a boner, you don’t have to be so bitter about it. Funny, but a bitter closer.

I just like knowing there is at least 1 person with an nfl contract that I can probably beat in the 40.

  40. Winky Says:

    47 contracts?????????????!!!!!!!??!!???!!!!!
    – I like it.

    GO BUCS!!!

  41. Winny Testaverde Says:

He has become the Don Zimmer of football. Good guy to have around and likely the best offensive mind at One Buc currently.

  42. westernbuc Says:

Found the Vita Vea thing you’re referencing. Yes, please get this man on Instagram

  43. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

And, Tennessee just hired the Woman Coach we let go.
Seriously, I have nothing against Tom Moore, and being 68 years old myself, I am happy anytime one of us old timers can do well.
I would be willing to bet that Tom watched a whole lot of game film for our scouts, and can spot a REAL Football Players a mile away!

  44. Youngbucs Says:

The double standards are glaring!!!! Fire leftwich Fire leftwich ok. Was Tom Moore not part of the offensive failures? He gets extended give me a break the joes celebrate this. Hold everyone to the same account. If you disagree with me list the reasons he should be here I’ll wait. Brady did not play at a high level leftwich bites the bullet I’m not surprised.

  45. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

And yet…just last week the media told us he was forced into retirement.

  46. Snookman9 Says:

Its the right thing. This guy is a legend and can contribute
    To whatever oc we get

  47. Goatfarmer Says:

Moore’s naysayers are going to love it when he tells Blowes that under no circumstances can Kyle’s Trashk be anything other than a towel boy in the NFL.

  48. BoricuaBucfan Says:

Tom Moore was retained due to his knowledge , a body of work with developing QB’s. Resigning means we are looking to draft another QB in this years draft.
