With The 19th Pick In The 2023 NFL Draft …

January 17th, 2023

“No, Mr. Glazer, you can’t draft coaches.”

Cue the draft lunatics! Their season has begun!

With the Bucs’ brutal playoff loss to Dallas last night, Tampa Bay now officially sits with the 19th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft by virtue of them having the worst record among the losers on wild card weekend.

The last time the Bucs owned the 19th pick they selected O.J. Howard in 2017.

Edge rusher? Quarterback? Defensive tackle? Joe’s not ready to dive in.

    WHO CARES?

Another Lost Decade is upon us.

  2. Goatfarmer Says:

    Whoever it is will suck.

  3. Bangkok Bucs Fan Says:

Man we have sooooo many needs.
Given we were dead last in the NFL in rushing, gotta go either OL or a stud RB no? Lenny is molasses and not sure White has what it takes.

  4. Goatfarmer Says:

Next SB in 2045 at the earliest. I’d be 87 if I’m lucky enough to make it.

Thanks Tom. Good luck with your new shags.

We’re just going to drink and watch the team suck for decades again.

  5. Will Says:

We have a bunch of needs no doubt. I’d love to see us get some speed and someone with some wiggle in the RB room. A new LT, DE, CB and MLB I’m sorry Devin White is a total liability in coverage. Get creative with him have line up like Cowboys do with Parsons and just get after the QB or something. He’s looked over weight all season too be honest.

  6. Buc4evr Says:

Need to trade for Carr and draft an OL or DL. Edge rusher would be fine. Trask is not the answer and at this point neither is Brady.

  7. Bucanero Says:

Quarterback you have to pick one. They should move a few spots and trade either Evans or Godwin to get more capital. Brady said farewell in the presser.

  8. Coburn Says:

Might need to replace Donnie. Knew he was struggling this year, but blew me away that he’s most penalized since 2015 or soemthing like that

  9. Bosch Says:

Trade all draft picks await for 2024 draft picks. Which will include the first pick in the draft.

    Need to trade for Carr

    LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, nothing like trading for a guy who will get you to 6-11 at best.

No thanks, I’d rather have Mike Glennon back.

With the cap situation being what it is, they could do a post-June 1st cut if they really wanted to dump him. I wouldn’t do it just for that, BUT, ideally, since you’re going to have to pay Wirfs anyways, I’d move him to LT and just draft a new RT, or, if Trask is the QB, just put Luke at RT where he did fairly well vs the Falcons and was his natural position anyways.

  12. Bosch Says:

Just trade it for 2024 picks. Don’t try to get better in 2023. Ain’t happening.

  13. Bosch Says:

Doesn’t matter if Brady moves on. All he would do is lower the Bucs 2024 draft pick by a couple slots. Building for 2025 and beyond starts now

  14. steele Says:

Ho hum, bottom of the first round. Not where you find many franchise changing picks, especially when your braintrust is not great at drafting anyway.

  15. Todd Says:

Simple with pick 19 we draft D. Smith replacement

  16. HC Grover Says:

If Bowles is not fired I don’t care who they draft.

  17. Bucs Guy Says:

Use the draft to address O and handle D through re-signings and FA. First decision is get a new QB (trade or draft). My take is draft by use of this year and next year #1 picks. Do you fix the QB situation first or as much of the rest of the team as possible?

Agree with Munch in moving Wirfs to RT. Need a G, TE, RB and WR to replace Julio. Still will have LG problem as I don’t see Bucs bringing back Stinnie or Hainsey being the solution. Otton is the Brate replacement (#2 TE).

Unfortunately there are too many contracts the Bucs must keep in 2023. Licht may have his hands tied for one more year — unless you trade some key players. Licht will hVe to earn his money this off season.

  18. Bucs Guy Says:

    Wires to LT

  19. Allbuccedup Says:

    Can’t draft GMs either!

  20. SB~LV Says:

    19th this year
    9th in 2024
    8th in 2025
    Do you understand now?

  21. Kenny Says:

NOT the best feeling after the Bucs lose bad to the cowboys, but it wasn’t there year, they need some coaching changes FAST and if i was a betting man, I don’t think you will see TB12 in Tampa next season, I say take that 10yr FOX DEAL worth over 300 million plus and do that.

  22. FrankFooter Says:

    1- Offensive tackle
    2- Cornerback
    3- Offensive Guard
    4- Wide receiver
    5- Cornerback

  23. gotbbucs Says:

Could have been the 8th or 9th pick, but we won one too many regular season games and fell a week behind in the coaching search.

  24. Rob Hamada Says:

I’ve been chirping on this site about the draft. The Bucs need to draft a LT/DT and DB in the first two rounds. If they can drop out of the first round and pick up another 2nd and 3rd or 2nd and 4th, I’d do it. With two 2nd round picks and two 3rd round picks we can reload. The LT out of Maryland or Syracuse would be my top choice for LT. Move Donovan Smith to LG. Move Goedeke to RG to compete with Mason or trade Mason for draft pick. If Hicks and Jones don’t want to resign for under 3 million, then let them walk. One year 3-5 million deal for Lavonte or walk.

  25. Bucsfan75 Says:

So Leftwich is the scapegoat. Honestly the offensive ineptitude falls more on the shoulders of Jason Licht in my opinion. His delusional thinking that we would be fine rolling with Goedeke and Hainsey was downright disastrous. The running game was historically bad and Brady was clearly never comfortable behind this one. Why is this guy getting a free pass. This seasons outcome was mostly his failure to recognize the importance of signing a free agent veteran Guard and center when there certainly we’re capable and affordable options to be had.

  26. Joe Says:

    So Leftwich is the scapegoat.

    “SCAPEGOAT???”

He’s in charge of an offense that has had a historic drop off WITH Tom Brady! Not sure you understand the definition of “scapegoat.”

  27. Davenport Says:

The weakest/thinnest unit on this team is the OL. 19 will get you a solid guy to plug in. Not exciting but needed

  28. Power of Pewter Says:

Does anyone have confidence that Licht will do better with the 19th pick in 2023 than he did with the 19th pick in 2017? With just a handful of exceptions, most of Licht’s draft picks were unproductive at best, busts at worst. The ONLY way the Bucs can get younger and out of salary cap hell is by several strong drafts put together. Hard to envision Licht doing that.

  29. Hal Says:

Random thoughts. Can Leftwich. Can Donovan Smith. Wirts to LT and Goedeke to RT. Has anyone noticed that Joe Tryons only pass rush move seems to be a speed rush around the tackle which the tackle can easily waltz around the QB. Reminiscent of another number 1 pick bust several years ago named Gaines (last name I believe was Adams)

  30. 1sparkybuc Says:

    OT

  31. Tony Says:

With the 19th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft The Tampa Bay Bucs select:

    JAKE MOODY (Michigan)

  32. Tony Says:

Maybe we can draft a GM a coach or an OC there somehow?
